The golf course just got a little more retro. During the June 4 PlayStation State of Play, Bandai Namco dropped a surprise trailer for Everybody’s Golf Hot Shots, revealing that none other than Pac-Man will be teeing up as a playable character in the upcoming sports title.
Set to release on September 5, Everybody’s Golf Hot Shots is coming to PS5, Nintendo Switch, and PC—and it looks like it’s shaping up to be the most feature-packed entry yet. The trailer gave fans a colorful look at gameplay, including a hilarious moment where Pac-Man sinks a putt and lets out his iconic “wakka wakka” sound in celebration.
Pac-Man won’t be unlocked by default, though—you’ll need to unlock him through regular gameplay. However, if you’re grabbing the game on PS5, you can unlock Pac-Man early as a pre-order bonus. It’s still unclear whether this bonus will be available on other platforms, so PlayStation players might have a small head start.
🏌️♂️ More Than Just a Cameo
Beyond the Pac-Man hype, the trailer revealed some pretty exciting features:
- The most characters ever in a Hot Shots Golf game.
- 10 regions around the world featured as golf courses.
- Dynamic course conditions, including changing weather and time of day.
- A quirky, colorful roster full of personality—classic Hot Shots style.
This new entry is being developed by Hyde and published by Bandai Namco, marking a fresh chapter for the long-running golf series that first launched way back in 1997. With over two decades of swingin’ and puttin’, this rebooted take is giving fans both nostalgia and something new.

🕹️ The Verdict So Far?
With a loaded character roster, dynamic courses, and a playable Pac-Man on the greens, Everybody’s Golf Hot Shots is shaping up to be one of the most entertaining golf games in years. It’ll be fun to see how the game plays out once it’s in players’ hands, but if the trailer’s any indication, fans of arcade sports games and golf sim hybrids are in for a real treat.
September 5 can’t come fast enough! ⛳️
