Share your love

Wild Zone 10 is where Pokémon Legends: Z-A starts throwing some genuinely challenging encounters at you. Between a pool full of aggressive Carvanha that jump out of the water to attack, interconnected rooftops with multiple Arbok spawns, and a Level 50 Alpha Arbok that can demolish unprepared teams, this zone demands respect.

I made the mistake of casually strolling through the Carvanha pool on my first visit. That went poorly. Very poorly. Let me help you avoid my mistakes with this complete breakdown of all seven regular Pokémon and three Alpha spawns in Wild Zone 10.

When Does Wild Zone 10 Unlock?

Wild Zone 10 becomes accessible after completing Main Mission 09: Chase that Mysterious Pokémon and obtaining your Mega Ring. This is the standard unlock requirement for most mid-game Wild Zones, including Wild Zone 9.

If you’re stuck on that Rogue Mega Absol fight, check our Rogue Mega battles guide for strategies.

Wild Zone 10 Overview: What You’re Hunting

Total Pokémon in Wild Zone 10: 7 regular species + 3 Alpha Pokémon

Pokemons

The complete list:

  • Slowpoke (entrance area, non-aggressive)
  • Bellsprout (entrance area, non-aggressive)
  • Carvanha (water pool, highly aggressive)
  • Staryu (upper grassy area)
  • Tynamo (hidden water area near exit)
  • Watchog (rooftop spawns)
  • Arbok (rooftop spawns, multiple locations)
  • Alpha Sharpedo (Level 42, in pool with Carvanha)
  • Alpha Watchog (Level 41, guards ladder area)
  • Alpha Arbok (Level 50, central rooftop – Strongest in zone)

Layout complexity: Wild Zone 10 features vertical exploration with grassy entrance areas, a dangerous water pool, stairs leading to upper levels, and fully interconnected rooftops. Navigation is more complex than circular zones like Wild Zone 7.

Bonus reward: Night Slash TM hidden near Alpha Arbok!

Slowpoke Location (Day/Night)

Slowpoke is the welcoming committee for Wild Zone 10—friendly, slow, and immediately visible when you enter.

Slowpoke Location (Day/Night) in Pokemon Legends: ZA

Where to find them:

  • Right at the entrance on the grassy area
  • Two Slowpoke spawn here
  • Available day and night
  • Non-hostile (won’t attack unless provoked)

Catching tips:

  • Easy catches—Slowpoke is famously dopey and slow
  • Great for practicing throwing techniques
  • Take your time—they won’t run or attack

Evolution paths:

  • Slowpoke → Slowbro (Level 37, natural evolution)
  • Slowpoke → Slowking (trade while holding King’s Rock)

Both evolutions are Water/Psychic-types with solid bulk and Special Attack. Slowking is particularly good for competitive teams. Check our trade evolution guide for details on getting King’s Rock and completing the trade.

Bellsprout Location (Day/Night)

Bellsprout shares the entrance grassy area with Slowpoke but positions itself differently.

Bellsprout Location (Day/Night) in Pokemon Legends: ZA

Where to find them:

  • Same grassy entrance area as Slowpoke
  • Hugging the sides of walls (not in the center)
  • Multiple Bellsprout spawn
  • Available day and night
  • Non-aggressive

Quick evolution opportunity:

Here’s something cool: Bellsprout has one of the fastest complete evolution chains in the zone.

Evolution chain:

  • Bellsprout → Weepinbell (Level 21)
  • Weepinbell → Victreebel (Leaf Stone)

If you catch a Bellsprout at level 21 or higher AND you have a Leaf Stone already, you can fully evolve it immediately. Leaf Stones are available at the Stone Emporium on Vernal Avenue—stock up if you haven’t already.

Victreebel is a Grass/Poison-type with high Attack, making it useful for physical movesets. It’s also featured in our Rogue Mega Victreebel guide as one of the challenging boss fights.

Carvanha Location (Day/Night) – DANGEROUS!

This is where Wild Zone 10 goes from peaceful to chaotic. The Carvanha pool is legitimately dangerous if you’re unprepared.

Carvanha Location (Day/Night) – DANGEROUS! in Pokemon Legends: ZA

Where to find them:

  • Large water pool past the grassy entrance area
  • Highly aggressive (will jump out of water to attack you)
  • Multiple Carvanha spawn simultaneously
  • Available day and night

Critical survival tips:

Don’t walk around the pool edges casually. Carvanha will leap out of the water and gang up on you. I learned this the hard way when three of them attacked simultaneously and wiped half my team.

Best strategy:

  1. Bring an Electric-type Pokémon to your active party
  2. Use long-range Electric moves like Thunderbolt
  3. Attack from a distance—don’t get close to the water’s edge
  4. Electric moves are 4x super-effective (Water/Dark typing)
  5. Take them out systematically before attempting to catch one

Type advantages:

  • Electric: 4x super-effective (best option)
  • Grass: 2x super-effective
  • Fighting: 2x super-effective
  • Bug: 2x super-effective
  • Fairy: 2x super-effective

Evolution: Carvanha evolves into Sharpedo at level 30. Sharpedo has Mega Evolution potential with high Speed and Attack stats, making it excellent for offensive builds. Check our Mega Evolution Tier List for Mega Sharpedo’s ranking.

Tynamo Location (Day/Night) – Hidden Spot

Tynamo is one of the easiest Pokémon to miss in Wild Zone 10 because its spawn location is tucked away near the zone exit.

Tynamo in Wild Zone 10 in Pokemon Legends: ZA

Where to find them:

  • Head to the left side of the Carvanha pool
  • Look for stairs leading deeper into Wild Zone 10
  • Follow the sidewalk until you see stairs going up on the left
  • IGNORE those stairs (important!)
  • Continue following the narrow stone path
  • Keep going until you reach the exit
  • Tynamo swims in the pool water directly in front of the exit

This is a genuinely hidden spawn that many players miss on their first run through the zone. The temptation to go up those first stairs is strong, but resist it until you’ve found Tynamo.

Evolution chain and Mega potential:

Tynamo has one of the more interesting evolution paths in the game:

  • Tynamo → Eelektrik (Level 39)
  • Eelektrik → Eelektross (Thunder Stone)

Big news: Mega Eelektross is one of the new Mega Evolutions added specifically in Pokémon Legends: Z-A!

How to get Eelektrossite:

  • Purchase at the Quasartico Mega Shard Exchange
  • Becomes available after completing Main Mission 15
  • Worth the investment if you need a strong Electric-type

Eelektross has no weaknesses in its base form (thanks to Levitate negating Ground-type moves in regular games), making it incredibly versatile. Mega Eelektross takes this even further.

Staryu Location (Day/Night)

Staryu spawns in the upper section of Wild Zone 10, requiring some navigation to reach.

Staryu Location (Day/Night) in Pokemon Legends: ZA

Where to find them:

  • Go back toward the stairs that lead to upper levels (the ones you ignored for Tynamo)
  • Climb the stairs
  • Staryu spawns on the grassy terrain at the top
  • You’ll encounter them immediately upon reaching the upper level
  • Available day and night

Evolution and Mega potential:

Evolution: Staryu → Starmie (Water Stone)

Exclusive reward: Starminite (Mega Stone for Starmie) is obtained as a reward for completing Main Mission 34. This is a late-game reward, so you’ll need to progress significantly through the story to get it.

Starmie is a Water/Psychic-type with excellent Speed and Special Attack, making it a top-tier choice for special attacking teams. Mega Starmie presumably enhances these strengths even further.

Watchog Location (Day/Night)

Watchog Location (Day/Night) in Pokemon Legends: ZA

Watchog marks the beginning of the rooftop exploration section of Wild Zone 10.

Where to find them:

  • Near the area where you found Staryu (upper grassy section)
  • Look for a ladder leading to the rooftops
  • Climb the ladder
  • Multiple Watchog spawn near the chimneys on the left side
  • Available day and night

Catching notes:

  • Normal-type, so Fighting moves work well
  • Not particularly aggressive compared to Carvanha
  • Relatively easy catches once you’re on the rooftops

Watchog doesn’t have any special evolution—it’s the final form of Patrat. It’s mostly a Pokédex filler Pokémon rather than a competitive powerhouse, but you need it for zone completion.

Arbok Location (Day/Night)

Arbok has multiple spawn points across the interconnected rooftops, making it easier to find than single-spawn Pokémon.

Arbok Location (Day/Night)

Where to find them:

  • Multiple Arbok roam the rooftops in Wild Zone 10
  • Concentrated near purple goo deposits (sludge puddles)
  • All rooftops are connected—you can explore freely without climbing down
  • Available day and night

Navigation tip: Because all rooftops in Wild Zone 10 are interconnected, you can systematically explore the entire rooftop network without repeatedly climbing ladders. Just don’t fall off the edges, or you’ll need to climb back up.

Type advantages:

  • Psychic: 2x super-effective (best option)
  • Ground: 2x super-effective
  • Watch out for Poison-type moves if you’re using Grass or Fairy Pokémon

Arbok is the final evolution of Ekans (evolves at level 22), so you’re catching it in its fully evolved form. It’s a pure Poison-type with decent Attack and Speed.

Related to purple goo: Those purple sludge deposits where Arbok spawns? They’re related to clearing obstacles. Check our purple sludge clearing guide for details on how to remove them using Water or Psychic-type moves.

Alpha Sharpedo Location (Day/Night)

Alpha Sharpedo is the first of three Alpha Pokémon in Wild Zone 10 and shares the dangerous Carvanha pool.

Alpha Sharpedo Location (Day/Night)

Where to find it:

  • Swimming in the same pool as the regular Carvanha
  • Near the stairs that lead up a level
  • Level 42 (significantly higher than regular Carvanha)
  • Available day and night

Battle strategy:

Alpha Sharpedo is Water/Dark-type, giving it several weaknesses to exploit:

Best counters:

  • Electric-type moves: 4x super-effective (absolutely destroys Sharpedo)
  • Grass-type moves: 2x super-effective
  • Fighting-type moves: 2x super-effective
  • Bug-type moves: 2x super-effective
  • Fairy-type moves: 2x super-effective

Recommended approach:

  1. Clear out regular Carvanha first (they’ll interfere with the Alpha battle)
  2. Bring an Electric-type with Thunderbolt or similar moves
  3. Stock up on healing items—Alpha Sharpedo hits hard with Crunch and Aqua Jet
  4. Use status conditions like paralysis to slow it down
  5. Ultra Balls recommended for catching

Why catch Alpha Sharpedo:

  • Drops Seeds of Mastery for Plus Move upgrades
  • Higher stats than regular Sharpedo
  • Mega Evolution potential (Mega Sharpedo is fast and deadly)
  • Excellent for physical attacking teams

Alpha Watchog Location (Day/Night)

Alpha Watchog is the weakest of the three Alphas in this zone, making it a good warmup fight.

Alpha Watchog Location (Day/Night)

Where to find it:

  • Guards the ladder area where you climb to the rooftops
  • Near the upper grassy section where regular Watchog spawn
  • Level 41 (lower than Alpha Sharpedo and Alpha Arbok)
  • Available day and night

Battle strategy:

Alpha Watchog is a Normal-type, giving it one major weakness:

Best counter:

  • Fighting-type moves: 2x super-effective and easily accessible
  • Most teams have at least one Fighting move by this point

Why it’s “relatively weak”:

  • Normal-types have limited offensive coverage
  • Only weak to one type (Fighting)
  • Lower level compared to Alpha Arbok
  • Doesn’t have particularly threatening moves

This is a good Alpha to practice on if you’re new to Alpha battles. It’s not a pushover, but it’s manageable with basic type matchups.

Alpha Arbok Location (Day/Night) – BOSS FIGHT

Alpha Arbok is the true challenge of Wild Zone 10. At Level 50, it’s the highest-level Pokémon in the entire zone and can wreck unprepared teams.

Alpha Arbok Location (Day/Night) – BOSS FIGHT

Where to find it:

  • Located on the central rooftop
  • Next to purple goo with golden light coming out of it (distinctive visual marker)
  • Level 50 (8 levels higher than Alpha Sharpedo!)
  • Available day and night

Battle strategy:

Alpha Arbok is a pure Poison-type with high Attack and decent Speed. It hits hard and fast.

Best counters:

  • Psychic-type moves: 2x super-effective (best special option)
  • Ground-type moves: 2x super-effective (best physical option)

Preparation checklist:

  1. Bring a Level 45+ Pokémon minimum (Level 50+ recommended)
  2. Stock up on healing items (Hyper Potions, Full Restores)
  3. Bring Antidotes or status healing items (Arbok uses Poison moves)
  4. Consider using Protect strategy to stall and heal
  5. Ultra Balls or Dusk Balls for catching

Moveset threats:

  • Poison Fang (high poison chance)
  • Crunch (strong Dark-type move)
  • Gunk Shot (extremely powerful Poison move)
  • Coil (boosts Attack, Defense, and Accuracy—dangerous setup move)

Pro tip: If Alpha Arbok uses Coil, either hit it with a super-effective move immediately or switch to a defensive Pokémon. Don’t let it stack multiple Coils or it becomes nearly unstoppable.

Why catch Alpha Arbok:

  • Drops Seeds of Mastery
  • Highest-level catchable Pokémon in Wild Zone 10
  • Excellent for physical attacking teams
  • Useful for later game content

Hidden Reward: Night Slash TM

There’s a bonus TM hidden in Wild Zone 10 that many players miss!

Location: Right next to where Alpha Arbok spawns on the central rooftop

How to obtain it:

  1. Defeat or catch Alpha Arbok first (or carefully avoid it)
  2. Look for the purple goo sludge next to the Alpha spawn point
  3. Use a Water-type or Psychic-type attack to wash away the sludge
  4. Collect the Night Slash TM (Technical Machine)

Night Slash details:

  • Dark-type physical move
  • 70 base power
  • High critical-hit ratio (excellent for physical attackers)
  • Useful for coverage against Psychic and Ghost types

This is worth grabbing even if you don’t plan to use it immediately. TMs are valuable resources, and Night Slash is a solid move for many physical attackers.

100% Completion Checklist

To fully complete Wild Zone 10, make sure you’ve caught or registered:

✓ Slowpoke (entrance grassy area)
✓ Bellsprout (entrance, along walls)
✓ Carvanha (aggressive water pool)
✓ Staryu (upper grassy area)
✓ Tynamo (hidden near exit—don’t miss this!)

  • Alpha Sharpedo (Level 42, in pool)
  • Alpha Watchog (Level 41, guards ladder)
  • Alpha Arbok (Level 50, central rooftop)

Remember: Alpha Pokémon are NOT required for 100% completion, but they’re excellent for team-building and Seeds of Mastery farming.

Tips for Efficient Wild Zone 10 Exploration

Team composition recommendations:

  • Electric-type: Mandatory for Carvanha/Sharpedo (Thunderbolt or similar)
  • Fighting-type: For Watchog and Alpha Watchog
  • Psychic or Ground-type: For Arbok and Alpha Arbok
  • Status move user: For difficult Alpha battles

Exploration route:

  1. Clear entrance area (Slowpoke, Bellsprout) first
  2. Handle Carvanha pool from a distance with Electric moves
  3. Follow stone path to find Tynamo (don’t forget this!)
  4. Climb stairs to upper area for Staryu
  5. Climb ladder to rooftops for Watchog and Arbok
  6. Challenge Alpha Pokémon once you’re prepared

Resource management:

  • Stock 20+ Ultra Balls minimum
  • Bring 10+ Hyper Potions or Full Restores
  • Pack Antidotes for Poison-type encounters
  • Consider Dusk Balls for rooftop catches (work well in shadowy areas)

Alpha battle order:

  1. Alpha Watchog (easiest, Level 41)
  2. Alpha Sharpedo (moderate, Level 42, but 4x weak to Electric)
  3. Alpha Arbok (hardest, Level 50)

Evolution Priority Guide

If you’re building a competitive team from Wild Zone 10 catches:

Highest priority:

  • Tynamo line (Mega Eelektross is exclusive to Z-A)
  • Staryu (Mega Starmie available late-game)
  • Carvanha (Mega Sharpedo is fast and powerful)

Medium priority:

  • Slowpoke (both evolutions are solid)
  • Bellsprout (Victreebel has high Attack)

Low priority:

  • Watchog (no evolution, mostly for Pokédex)
  • Arbok (already fully evolved, no Mega form)

Check our special evolutions guide for detailed evolution requirements.

Mission Help:

My Experience With Wild Zone 10

Wild Zone 10 kicked my butt the first time through. I underestimated the Carvanha pool and got swarmed, then barely survived only to stumble into Alpha Arbok unprepared. Level 50 hits different when your team is Level 38-42.

The interconnected rooftops are actually really cool from a design perspective. It creates a sense of exploration without being confusing like some multi-level zones. Finding Tynamo near the exit felt rewarding because it’s genuinely hidden—not just “technically missable” but actually tucked away.

Alpha Arbok remains one of my favorite Alpha battles in the game because it feels genuinely threatening. It’s not just a stat-stick—it has good moves, setup potential with Coil, and punishes mistakes hard.

Also, don’t sleep on Mega Eelektross. It’s one of the new Megas exclusive to Z-A, and having a powerful Electric-type with no weaknesses (in its base form) is incredibly useful for late-game content.

Final Thoughts

Wild Zone 10 is a significant difficulty spike compared to earlier zones. The Carvanha pool alone requires strategy and preparation, and Alpha Arbok is a genuine boss-tier encounter at Level 50. But the rewards are worth it—Tynamo’s Mega Evolution line, Staryu’s late-game Mega potential, and Sharpedo’s offensive power all pay dividends.

My advice: tackle this zone methodically. Clear the entrance area, handle the Carvanha pool from range with Electric moves, don’t forget Tynamo near the exit, and save Alpha Arbok for last when you’re fully prepared with healing items and proper type matchups.

And grab that Night Slash TM while you’re fighting Alpha Arbok—it’s a quality move for physical attackers.

For official game information, visit the Pokémon Legends website or grab the game from Nintendo’s store.

Now gear up, bring that Electric-type, and conquer Wild Zone 10!
