Wild Zone 13 in Pokemon Legends Z-A might be compact, but don’t let its size fool you—this area packs a serious punch with some of the most formidable Bug-type Pokemon you’ll encounter. If you’re hunting for powerhouse additions to your team or just trying to complete your Pokedex, this zone is essential territory.

What makes Wild Zone 13 particularly interesting is its dense concentration of Pokemon in such a small space. You won’t be wandering around aimlessly here—the moment you step into this shaded forest area, you’ll be surrounded by aggressive Bug-types ready to challenge you. The zone becomes accessible after completing Main Mission 14, so make sure you’ve progressed that far in the story before heading over.

When Does Wild Zone 13 Unlock?

You’ll gain access to Wild Zone 13 once you’ve cleared Main Mission 14. If you’re still early in the game, bookmark this guide and come back when you’ve reached this milestone. For reference on other Wild Zones, check out our complete Wild Zones guide.

All Pokemon in Wild Zone 13: Complete Spawn List

Regular Pokemon:

  • Pinsir
  • Heracross
  • Vivillon
  • Scyther
  • Phantump
  • Weepinbell

Alpha Pokemon:

  • Alpha Trevenant
  • Alpha Weepinbell

The time-of-day mechanic plays a crucial role here, so you’ll need to visit both during daylight and at night to catch everything. If you need help switching between day and night, our time-change guide has you covered.

Detailed Pokemon Locations in Wild Zone 13

Pinsir – The Aggressive Stag Beetle

Spawn Time: Day & Night

Pinsir - The Aggressive Stag Beetle

Pinsir is impossible to miss—multiple specimens patrol the shaded tree area right at the zone’s entrance. Fair warning: these Bug-types are hostile and will attack on sight, so approach with caution or be ready for battle.

Pro Tip: If you want to Mega Evolve your Pinsir later, you can purchase Pinsirite from the Quasartico Mega Shard Exchange for 240 Mega Shards after Main Mission 15. Check our Mega Evolution tier list to see if Mega Pinsir fits your competitive strategy.

Heracross – The Single Horn Pokemon

Spawn Time: Day & Night

Heracross - The Single Horn Pokemon

Just beyond the Pinsir territory, you’ll spot Heracross flying near the western gate. This Fighting/Bug-type is another excellent addition to any team, especially with its Mega Evolution potential.

The Heracronite is also available at the Quasartico Mega Shard Exchange using the same currency system as Pinsirite.

Scyther – The Mantis Pokemon (Night Only)

Spawn Time: Night

Scyther - The Mantis Pokemon (Night Only)

Scyther appears exclusively at night on the left side of Wild Zone 13, near where the Pinsir congregate during the day. This is one of the more sought-after Pokemon in the zone.

Evolution Note: Scyther can evolve into Scizor when traded while holding a Metal Coat, but there’s a catch—you won’t have access to Metal Coat until the post-game. Plan accordingly if you’re building a team around Scizor’s Steel/Bug typing.

Vivillon – The Scale Pokemon (Day Only)

Spawn Time: Day

Vivillon - The Scale Pokemon (Day Only)

Look for Vivillon fluttering among the berry bushes along the northern edge during daylight hours. They prefer sunny spots, so they’re quite visible in the direct sunlight.

Catching Strategy for Bug/Flying Types: Net Balls work exceptionally well on Pinsir, Heracross, Vivillon, and Scyther. You can purchase them at the Poke Ball Boutique for 1,000 Pokedollars each—a worthwhile investment for this zone.

Phantump – The Stump Pokemon (Night Only)

Spawn Time: Night

Phantump - The Stump Pokemon (Night Only)

Phantump appears near the bushes beside the large building structure, but only after dark. This Ghost/Grass-type is relatively docile compared to its neighbors.

Use Dusk Balls at night to significantly boost your capture chances. Phantump evolves into Trevenant through trading, which ties nicely into our next entry…

Weepinbell – The Flycatcher Pokemon (Day Only)

Spawn Time: Day

Weepinbell - The Flycatcher Pokemon (Day Only)

Weepinbell hangs out near the Pinsir swarm during daytime. To evolve it into Victreebel, you’ll need a Leaf Stone—a fairly straightforward evolution compared to some others in the game.

Bonus: Victreebelite is actually given to you for free as a reward for defeating the Rogue Victreebel during Main Mission 13. If you missed that encounter, check our Rogue Pokemon guide for details.

Alpha Pokemon Encounters in Wild Zone 13

Alpha Pokemon are guaranteed spawns with higher levels and enhanced stats. They’re aggressive and powerful, so come prepared with healing items and strong Pokemon.

Alpha Trevenant – The Elder Tree (Night Only)

Spawn Time: Night
Level: 47

Alpha Trevenant - The Elder Tree (Night Only)

This Ghost/Grass-type Alpha lurks among the regular Phantump population at night. Alpha Trevenant is particularly dangerous because it has multiple area-of-effect (AoE) attacks that can damage your trainer directly if you’re caught in the splash zone.

Battle Tips:

  • Keep your distance when possible
  • Use Fire or Flying-type moves for super-effective damage
  • Watch for its AoE attack patterns and dodge accordingly
  • Bring plenty of healing items

Alpha Weepinbell – The Overgrown Flycatcher (Day Only)

Spawn Time: Day
Level: 46

Alpha Weepinbell

Alpha Weepinbell appears among its regular counterparts during daylight. While slightly lower-leveled than Alpha Trevenant, it’s still a formidable opponent with Grass/Poison typing.

Secret Reward: Near the Alpha Weepinbell spawn, destroy the vines with the yellow glow to obtain the X-Scissor TM—a valuable Bug-type move that many of your Wild Zone 13 catches can learn. Our guide on removing vines and thorns explains the mechanics if you’re stuck.

Optimizing Your Wild Zone 13 Exploration

Here are some additional strategies to make your time in Wild Zone 13 more productive:

Before You Go:

  • Stock up on Net Balls and Dusk Balls
  • Bring Pokemon with Fire, Flying, or Rock-type moves
  • Pack plenty of healing items for Alpha encounters
  • Have an escape item ready in case things get overwhelming

Catching Efficiency:

  • Use fast travel to switch between day and night efficiently
  • Save before engaging Alpha Pokemon
  • Consider the strength ranking of these Pokemon—our strongest Pokemon tier list can help you prioritize which ones to train

Team Building Considerations:

Several Pokemon from Wild Zone 13 can become core team members. Heracross and Mega Pinsir both offer excellent Bug-type coverage, while Scizor (if you’re patient enough to wait for post-game) becomes one of the strongest Steel-types available. Check out our special evolutions guide for more evolution mechanics.

Wrapping Up Wild Zone 13

Despite being one of the smaller Wild Zones in Pokemon Legends Z-A, Zone 13 offers quality over quantity. The concentration of powerful Bug-types and guaranteed Alpha spawns makes it worth multiple visits, especially as you level up your team and prepare for endgame content.

The time-gated Pokemon spawns mean you’ll need to return at different times, but that’s part of the fun—each visit offers something different. Plus, with the X-Scissor TM hidden here, there’s extra incentive to thoroughly explore every corner.
