PS Plus Free Games June 2026 – Grounded, Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2, and Warhammer 40K Darktide Confirmed
Sony went ahead and dropped the PS Plus Essential lineup for June 2026 a little early, and honestly, it’s a solid month. Three games are landing on June 2, and if you’ve been waiting for a reason to finally dive into Grounded or finally give Darktide a proper shot, this is your moment. All three titles are available to all PS Plus subscribers regardless of tier, and they’ll stick around until July 6 before the next rotation kicks in.
The announcement came alongside the start of Sony’s annual Days of Play 2026 sales event, which kicked off May 27 — bringing discounts, bonus content, and now these free game reveals all at once. PlayStation typically drops the next month’s lineup on the last Wednesday before the first Tuesday. June 2 being the drop date meant the official reveal was due May 27, but Sony jumped the gun by a day. No complaints there.
Here’s what’s coming and what you need to know about each game before June 2 hits.

PS Plus June 2026 Free Games List
- Grounded: Fully Yoked Edition (PS5 / PS4)
- Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2 (PS5 / PS4)
- Warhammer 40,000: Darktide (PS5 only)
All three drop on June 2 and are claimable through July 6, 2026. It’s also worth noting this is a co-op heavy month — every single game in the lineup has strong multiplayer chops, which makes it feel like Sony is deliberately setting things up for a summer gaming sessions type of vibe.
Grounded: Fully Yoked Edition — The Headliner
Let’s not beat around the bush — Grounded: Fully Yoked Edition is the biggest get here, and it’s kind of wild to see an Xbox-published, Obsidian-developed title showing up on PS Plus. If you missed it during its Xbox Game Pass days or hadn’t gotten around to the PS5 version yet, this is genuinely one of the best opportunities to play it for free.
The premise sounds simple but the execution is excellent: you play as a teenager who’s been shrunk down to the size of an ant, stranded in a suburban backyard that suddenly feels like a massive, hostile wilderness. Spiders are basically boss encounters. Ants are patrol enemies. You build bases, craft weapons and armor out of bug parts, and try to unravel the mystery of why Dr. Wendell Tully was miniaturizing kids in his backyard in the first place.
What separates Grounded from the crowded survival crafting pack is how well Obsidian committed to the bit. The sound design alone — spiders hissing, insects squawking from just out of frame — does a lot to build tension in a way most games in this genre never bother with. The world is dense and well-designed, and the story (while not the main draw) keeps things moving with enough mystery to stay interesting.
The Fully Yoked Edition is the complete package. It includes every update released since launch: new bosses, new areas, a New Game Plus mode, and enough quality-of-life improvements that even players who bounced off an earlier version of the game should consider giving it another try. The NG+ mode is a little uneven in difficulty balancing — some reviewers noted it throws wildly overtuned enemies into familiar spaces — but as an add-on to an already meaty experience, it’s a net positive.
The real magic is in co-op. Up to four players can share a world, splitting base-building duties and covering each other during the gnarlier bug encounters. If you’ve got three friends who have never played it, this is legitimately one of the better co-op game nights you can have right now. And now that Grounded 2 is in early access, jumping into the first game has extra context value.
What Platform Does Grounded Run On?
Grounded: Fully Yoked Edition is available on both PS5 and PS4, so you’re covered regardless of which console you’re on. The PS5 version runs noticeably better with faster load times and improved visual performance, but the PS4 version is a solid fallback if needed.
Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2 — Better Than You’d Expect
Look, the first All-Star Brawl had a rough launch. It was clearly chasing the Super Smash Bros. formula without quite nailing what makes that formula tick — and the community was pretty vocal about it. But All-Star Brawl 2 is legitimately a different story. GameFreak didn’t develop this one, and the jump in quality from the original to the sequel is significant.
The roster is stacked with familiar faces — SpongeBob SquarePants, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Jimmy Neutron, Squidward, and more. Each character has a distinct moveset with real depth to it, and the addition of Supers (think ultra-powerful finishing moves you charge over the course of a match) adds a layer of hype that the first game was completely missing.
There’s also a full roguelike single-player campaign mode, which is an unexpected feature for a platform fighter and one that gives the game serious replay value even when you’re playing solo. If you’ve got no one to fight locally or online, the campaign alone is worth putting a few hours into.
This is the kind of game that makes perfect sense as a PS Plus freebie. It’s not a “you need to own this” purchase for most people, but it’s absolutely the kind of thing that becomes a staple of couch gaming sessions when it doesn’t cost you anything extra. Throw it on when friends come over and you’ll genuinely have a good time.
Warhammer 40,000: Darktide — PS5 Only, But Worth It
Darktide is the one PS4 owners are going to be frustrated about — it’s a PS5 exclusive in this lineup. But if you’re on the current gen, this is one of the better co-op shooters you can play right now, and it’s been significantly improved since it first launched on PC and Xbox.
The concept should sound familiar if you’ve ever played Vermintide: four players, squad-based combat, hordes of enemies, and a constant feeling that you’re barely holding things together. Darktide swaps fantasy for grimdark science fiction — you’re a squad of “Rejects” fighting through the Hive City of Tertium to push back the corrupted forces of Chaos threatening to consume it. The atmosphere is suffocating in the best way. Dark corridors, relentless enemy waves, a pounding dark techno soundtrack — it’s genuinely intense.
Developer Fatshark had a rough launch period with this one. At release, players weren’t happy with the class system, the progression felt shallow, and performance on PC was inconsistent. But by 2026, that’s a different story. The game now features four well-differentiated classes — the Ogryn (heavy bruiser), Psyker (warp-powered support/damage dealer), Zealot (aggressive melee), and Veteran (long-range precision) — each with fully fleshed-out skill trees and distinct playstyles. Two additional paid classes have also been added post-launch.
The endgame has expanded considerably with the Havoc mode — a high-difficulty challenge mode with weekly assignments and cosmetic rewards — and the more recent Mortis Trials roguelike mode, which gives the game a whole new loop to chase after you’ve burned through the base mission content. The Party Finder system also makes it easy to find groups that match your playstyle, whether you’re casual or going for high-difficulty Maelstrom runs.
If you’ve been even mildly curious about Darktide but didn’t want to spend money on it before knowing whether it had improved, this PS Plus drop is the perfect test drive. Server populations are about to spike when the June rotation hits — prime time to jump in and find co-op partners.
Don’t Forget — May Games Are Almost Gone
Before you get too locked in on June, make sure you’ve already claimed this month’s games if you haven’t. Wuchang: Fallen Feathers and Nine Sols (both absolutely worth grabbing if you’re into challenging action games) are only available until June 2, when the new rotation starts. Miss that window and they’re gone from your library queue.
The exception is EA Sports FC 26, which got an extended run and will remain claimable through June 16. This extension lines up with the game’s new World’s Game update dropping on June 4, so there’s fresh content to play around with even if you’ve already had it in your rotation this month. PlayStation Plus subscribers also have access to the EA Sports FC 26 PlayStation Plus Icons Pack as a bonus add-on, so grab that too while it’s available.
If you’re a PS Plus Extra subscriber, Sony also revealed that Destiny 2: Legacy Edition — which bundles in The Final Shape expansion — is coming to Extra in June. That’s a significant get for Destiny players who’ve been sitting on the fence about the expansion.
PS Plus Extra Games for June 2026 — What to Expect
The Extra and Premium tier additions for June haven’t been fully announced yet. Based on PlayStation’s usual schedule, the full Extra and Premium game reveal should land around June 10, with those titles hitting the service on June 16. Sony’s State of Play is also returning on June 2 — same day the Essential games go live — which could come with further announcements about what’s heading to the service for the rest of the summer.
Given how strong the Essential lineup is this month, expectations for Extra and Premium are understandably elevated. If Sony keeps this momentum going into the June 10 reveal, June 2026 could end up being one of the stronger months PS Plus has had in a while. For reference, May’s lineup also had standout value with Wuchang and Nine Sols — two genuinely difficult and rewarding games. Back-to-back solid months would be a good look for a service that just raised its prices.

And if you’re following the longer-term industry picture, the Sims Medieval getting delisted from EA App is a reminder of how these things go eventually. On the more exciting side, the LEGO Cities Skylines leak has the strategy crowd buzzing, and if you like deep-dive historical gaming lore, the breakdown of Arkane Studios and the Thief 4 / Dishonored origin story is a genuinely great read.
