Evil Dead: The Game is being pulled from digital storefronts, but Saber Interactive assures fans that servers will remain active for existing players.
Saber Interactive just dropped some disappointing—though not entirely unexpected—news about Evil Dead: The Game. Originally released in 2022, the asymmetrical survival horror title is being delisted from major digital storefronts. While the update stung, fans of the bloody co-op experience had already been bracing for bad news.
Developed by Saber and published by Boss Team Games, Evil Dead: The Game brought together iconic characters from the classic horror franchise for gory multiplayer matches mixing co-op and PvP. With a roster full of familiar faces, it quickly earned a spot in horror fans’ hearts.
The Evil Dead universe, created by Spider-Man director Sam Raimi, has spanned five films and the cult-favorite TV series Ash vs Evil Dead, all sharing a twisted blend of gore, isolation, and Southern Gothic horror. The game followed suit, landing alongside titles like Texas Chain Saw Massacre and Telltale’s The Walking Dead in the Southern horror game pantheon.
In a new blog post on Steam, Saber confirmed that the game is being removed from digital storefronts, including Epic Games, Steam, and PlayStation. At the time of writing, it still appears on the Xbox Store, but it’s unclear how long that will last. Thankfully, Saber assured players that servers will remain online—so anyone who already owns the game can keep playing.
Fans first noticed the game’s quiet disappearance from online stores days ago and started raising red flags on social media. The fear was that Evil Dead: The Game might be shut down without warning, so Saber’s confirmation that servers are sticking around came as a small relief. Still, the mood among fans is pretty somber. Many praised the game as one of the best in the asymmetrical horror genre, and its slow fade from the spotlight has been tough to watch.

It’s not alone in being pulled this year—Xbox has also delisted several indie games like Outer Terror, Daggerhood, and Gravity Duck. But for Evil Dead fans, the loss feels more personal, especially considering the game’s cult following and iconic source material.
On the bright side, the Evil Dead name isn’t vanishing completely from games. The retro-style platformer RetroRealms: Ash vs Evil Dead is still kicking, and Ash Williams continues to chainsaw his way through Dead by Daylight. Over in Hollywood, the franchise is very much alive. Evil Dead Rise (2023) was a major hit, and a new installment, Evil Dead Burn, is already set for 2026. As for Bruce Campbell? He hasn’t ruled out a return—but he’s got a few conditions before revving up the chainsaw again.
