Wondering whether to reveal King Arthur to Caradoc in Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon? Here’s what happens with both choices and how they impact your journey.
Should You Tell Caradoc About King Arthur in Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon?
One of the very first big decisions you face in Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon is during your chat with Caradoc, who grills you on how you survived the Red Death — a brutal, incurable plague that no one’s ever recovered from. There’s no way around this choice either; to keep playing, you have to give him an answer he’ll accept.
So what do you say? Do you tell him you found a fragment of King Arthur, or play dumb and act like you have no clue what happened? This moment totally channels Elder Scrolls vibes, giving you different ways to handle the situation. Let’s break down what each path does.

Option 1: Tell Caradoc About King Arthur
If you admit that King Arthur saved you — or more accurately, that a fragment of him now lives inside you — things get dramatic fast.
Caradoc immediately draws his sword, knocks you down, and straight-up stabs you in the stomach. Don’t worry, it’s a scripted event — you can’t fight him or stop it.
But here’s the kicker: Caradoc isn’t trying to kill you — he’s trying to destroy the piece of Arthur fused with you.
He then explains that his life’s mission is to track down and destroy every remaining part of King Arthur because Arthur can come back to life over and over.
Each time he does, it worsens the Wyrdness — the creepy corruption creeping over the world. If Arthur keeps reviving, everything could be doomed.
Once Caradoc believes he’s wiped out Arthur’s spirit, he lets you rest at a bonfire. Surprise! Arthur pops up anyway, alive and well (in ghost form), totally unaware of what Caradoc’s going on about. He just tells you to keep searching for the truth.
Option 2: Keep King Arthur a Secret
Deciding to keep quiet about Arthur changes the vibe a bit. Caradoc still tells you his purpose — hunting down and eliminating all fragments of King Arthur so he never revives again. But since you didn’t mention anything, he doesn’t attack you.
You get to rest at the bonfire, and Arthur appears again, this time thanking you for keeping his secret. He still seems confused about Caradoc’s warnings and encourages you to uncover the truth on your journey.
So… Which Option Should You Pick?
Ultimately, both choices lead to the same place: King Arthur survives inside you, and his offer of power still stands.
The only difference is whether Caradoc thinks he’s succeeded in his mission or not. If you tell the truth, he believes he’s won. If you lie, he remains in the dark.
Also, if you choose “I’ll stay” during your convo with Caradoc, you can explore the starting island a bit more — but eventually, you’ll have to move on to progress.
No wrong answer here — it’s all about how you want to roleplay your character. Do you trust Arthur or fear what he might become? That’s a choice only you can make.
