Two Sides of the Coin Quest Walkthrough and Rewards

Two Sides of the Coin Quest

Learn how to complete the Two Sides of the Coin quest in Oblivion Remastered, choose between Arnora and Jorundr, and claim your hidden treasure reward.

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered is packed with quests hidden in every city, and some of them offer tough choices that change the outcome — and your rewards.

One of those quests is Two Sides of the Coin, which gives you the chance to decide who to trust and how the story will play out.

If you’re ready to dive into some small-town betrayal and treasure hunting, here’s a full step-by-step walkthrough of the quest, including what you get depending on which side you choose.

How to Start the Two Sides of the Coin Quest

To kick off the quest:

  • Head to the city of Bruma.
  • Start chatting with guards and townsfolk — keep asking about Rumors.
  • Eventually, someone will spill the tea about a woman named Arnora.

Once you hear her name, the quest will pop into your journal. Time to get involved.

Meet Arnora

After hearing the rumor, head south of Bruma to find Arnora’s house.
Talk to her and she’ll tell you a sob story about how her ex-boyfriend Jorundr killed a guard and stashed some stolen gold. She wants you to help her get the location of the treasure.

Your first job is to get Jorundr to talk.

Find Jorundr in the Castle Dungeons

Follow your quest marker to Bruma Castle:

  • Enter the Great Hall.
  • Take the first right into the Barracks.
  • Then turn left into the Basement to reach the Jail.

You’ll see a guard posted outside Jorundr’s cell.
You can try talking to Jorundr through the bars, but he won’t trust you.

Here’s the trick:

  • Steal the quill or ink off the guard’s desk.
  • Let the guard catch you, and choose to go to jail.
  • You’ll end up inside Jorundr’s cell, and now he’ll trust you.

Important Tip:
Before getting arrested, stash any stolen items somewhere safe, like inside a Guild chest — otherwise, the guards will confiscate them permanently.

Choose Who to Help: Arnora or Jorundr

Once you’re cellmates, Jorundr drops a bombshell — Arnora actually set him up and killed the guard herself.
He’ll ask you to kill Arnora and bring back her jeweled necklace as proof.

After the conversation:

  • Sleep in the jail bed to finish your sentence.
  • Head back to Arnora’s house to confront her.

When you talk to her, Arnora offers a counter-plan:
Instead of actually killing her, take her necklace, show it to Jorundr, and split the treasure afterward.

Now you have a choice to make.

Should You Help Arnora or Jorundr?

Siding with Jorundr

  • Attack Arnora immediately — she’ll become hostile once she realizes your choice.
  • After defeating her, loot her body to find:
    • Amulet
    • Chest Key (for a chest hidden behind her bed).
  • Grab the real necklace from the chest.
  • Return to the Castle Jail.
  • Lockpick the outer jail door (no need to get arrested again).
  • Talk to Jorundr through the bars and show him the necklace.
  • He’ll reveal the location of the stolen gold — it’s hidden just outside Bruma’s northern gate.

Follow the quest marker, find the hidden chest, and claim your reward.

Siding with Arnora

  • Accept her plan and take the chest key.
  • Unlock the chest behind her bed and grab the Amulet.
  • Bring it back to Jorundr in jail.
  • Jorundr believes she’s dead and tells you where the gold is hidden.

But it’s not all smooth sailing:
When you reach the hidden chest, Tyrelius Logellus will ambush you.
He overheard everything and killed Arnora himself — now he wants to kill you and take the treasure.

  • Defeat Tyrelius.
  • Loot the chest.
  • Head back to Arnora’s house and discover her tragic fate.

Two Sides of the Coin Quest Rewards

Regardless of whose side you pick, once you loot the hidden chest you’ll get:

  • Brass Pearl Ring
  • 2x Brass Rings
  • Flawed Pearl
  • Flawed Topaz
  • 40 Gold
  • Heavy Armor Repair (Skill Book)
  • Purloined Shadows (Skill Book)

Not a bad haul for a little bit of betrayal and backstabbing, right?

Two Sides of the Coin is one of the better “gray morality” quests in Oblivion Remastered, letting you pick between two pretty shady characters.
Whether you side with the betrayed or the betrayer, you’ll walk away richer — and maybe just a little more suspicious of everyone you meet in Bruma. 🪙🏰
