Oblivion Remastered: What Skooma Does and Where To Find It

Curious about Skooma in Oblivion Remastered? Here’s what happens when you drink it, where to find bottles, and how to buy more without getting caught.
Oblivion Remastered: What Skooma Does and Where To Find It
In the world of The Elder Scrolls, Skooma is one of the most infamous substances out there. Refined from Moon Sugar, it’s known for its powerful effects—and for being completely illegal pretty much everywhere you go.
In Oblivion Remastered, Skooma gives you a huge temporary boost to your physical abilities but comes with some pretty serious drawbacks too. Plus, it plays a role in a few quests, like “The Lonely Wanderer“ in the Dark Brotherhood questline.
This guide breaks down exactly what drinking Skooma does to your character, and the best places to find it if you’re looking to stock up.

What Happens If You Drink Skooma?
Skooma’s effects in Oblivion Remastered are the same as they were back in the original 2006 game. It’s considered illegal—so if you’re caught by guards, they’ll confiscate it right out of your inventory, even if it wasn’t technically stolen.
Unlike Morrowind, where you could stack Skooma and launch yourself across the map, or Skyrim, where it mostly just restores stamina, Skooma in Oblivion Remastered hits a sweet spot in between:
Skooma Effects:
- Drain Agility (on self): -60 points
- Damage Intelligence (on self): -2 points
- Fortify Strength (on self): +60 points
- Fortify Speed (on self): +60 points
In simple terms:
You’ll become incredibly fast and hit way harder in melee combat, but you’ll be way worse at sneaking, ranged attacks, and casting magic.
👉 Despite the lore talking about Skooma’s addictive nature (looking at you, Faelian), you can’t actually become addicted to Skooma in Oblivion Remastered. So feel free to drink without worrying about long-term side effects.

Where To Find Skooma in Oblivion Remastered
There are two ways to get your hands on Skooma:
- Steal it or find it scattered throughout Cyrodiil.
- Buy it from shady vendors.
Because it’s illegal, it doesn’t matter whether the Skooma you’re carrying is marked as stolen or not. If guards catch you, they’ll take it. So if you see some sitting out and no one’s around, just grab it. No one’s gonna judge you (except maybe the guards later).
Skooma looks like:
A small purple potion bottle—shorter than the regular health and magicka potions.
5 Easy Skooma Locations Early in the Game
If you’re trying to find Skooma without doing a ton of digging around random dungeons, here are a few spots that are easy to reach:
Location | Details |
Lorkmir’s House (Imperial City, Elven Gardens District) | 2 bottles on the table. Found during Dark Brotherhood’s “The Lonely Wanderer” quest. |
The Skooma Den (Bravil) | Multiple bottles scattered around. You can also pickpocket the addicts hanging out there. |
Roland Jenseric’s Basement (Imperial City) | 2 bottles in the basement. Part of the “Order of the Virtuous Blood” quest. |
Robber’s Glen Cave (northwest of Bravil) | 3 bottles in a chest. You’ll be led here through the Fighter’s Guild questline. |
Southwest Imperial Watch Tower (Imperial City) | 2 bottles in the basement. You’ll visit this spot during the Thieves Guild special jobs. |
⚠️ Important: None of these locations respawn Skooma. Once you loot it, it’s gone for good unless you cheat or mod.
Where To Buy Skooma in Oblivion Remastered
If sneaking and stealing isn’t your thing, you can actually buy Skooma—if you know where to look.
Skooma Vendors:
Vendor | Location |
Nordinor | Alley next to Silverhome on the Water Inn (Bravil). Only appears after midnight. |
Shady Sam | Outside the Imperial City walls, near the Elven Gardens District. Look for him northeast of Chestnut Handy Stables. |
Just remember: even if you bought it fair and square, Skooma still counts as illegal contraband. If the guards search you, they’ll confiscate it along with anything else they deem suspicious.
Skooma in Oblivion Remastered is one of those little touches that adds a lot of flavor to the world. Whether you’re drinking it to speed-run fights or snagging it to complete a quest, it’s a fun and risky item to mess around with. Just be careful not to get caught—or at least have enough gold on hand for the fine when you do. 🍷😎
