Pokémon TCG Pocket is adding win streak bonuses and removing mid-season rank drops for Ultra Ball and Master Ball players. Here’s what it means for competitive ranking.
Pokémon TCG Pocket Eases Ranked Grind With Win Streak Bonuses and Rank Protection
If you’ve been stuck grinding your way through Ultra Ball and Master Ball in Pokémon TCG Pocket, there’s some good news on the horizon.
The game is finally making changes to the ranked system that could help take some of the sting out of climbing the competitive ladder.
Starting after the current Extradimensional Crisis season ends (likely late June), Pokémon TCG Pocket will introduce consecutive win bonuses to the two highest tiers: Ultra Ball and Master Ball.
Until now, only the lower ranks—Beginner, Poké Ball, and Great Ball—got this kind of bonus. While the devs haven’t dropped all the details just yet, if this mirrors the lower-tier system, top-ranked players could potentially earn up to 12 bonus points per match on a five-game win streak.
That’s a big deal, especially considering that some estimates say it can take over 300 wins to go from Ultra to Master Ball.
This win streak system aims to reward skilled players who might not have the time to grind endless matches but still want to compete at a high level.
And that’s not all—there’s another important tweak coming in June: no more mid-season rank drops for Ultra Ball and Master Ball. So if you hit Master Ball, you’re safe there until the season ends.
That means no more heartbreaking slumps that send you tumbling back down the ladder just because of a few off days.
To recap, here’s what’s changing:
- Win streak bonus added to Ultra Ball and Master Ball ranks
- Mid-season rank drops removed for Ultra and Master
- End-of-season rank resets will still happen as usual
For those keeping score, climbing ranks has two big perks:
- Unique emblems you can flex on your profile, showing off your highest rank.
- Pack Hourglasses, with Master Ball players earning the max reward of 100 at the end of the season.
All in all, these changes seem like a solid step toward making the ranked experience more rewarding and less grindy.
If you’ve got the skill but not the time to play match after match, this update might finally give you a fair shot at climbing the ranks. Still, it’s early days, so we’ll have to see how it all plays out once the changes go live.
Let’s hope the next season brings a more balanced and competitive ladder for everyone.
