How I Solved Wordle 1534 in 4 Tries
Let me walk you through my thought process today. Sometimes sharing the journey helps other players pick up new strategies!
Try #1: LEAVE
I started with LEAVE, which is one of my go-to opening words because it uses common vowels and consonants. This gave me a solid foundation:
- Got the “E” in the right spot (position 2)
- Found another “E” but in the wrong position
- No luck with L, A, or V
Try #2: DELAY
Since I knew there were two E’s and one was in position 2, I tried DELAY to test out more common letters:
- Confirmed the “E” in position 2
- Found that “A” is in the word but not in position 4
- The L, D, and Y weren’t part of today’s answer
Try #3: FETAL
Now I was getting somewhere! With “E” locked in position 2 and knowing “A” belonged somewhere else, FETAL seemed like a logical next step:
- Perfect! Got “E” in position 2, “T” in position 3, “A” in position 4, and “L” in position 5
- Just needed to figure out the first letter
Try #4: PETAL
With _ETAL as my pattern, I thought about what letter could start this word. “P” jumped out immediately – PETAL is such a common, everyday word. Bingo!
Why PETAL Makes Perfect Sense
PETAL is actually a great Wordle word because:
- It uses common letters that appear frequently in English
- It’s a word everyone knows from childhood
- The vowel placement (E in position 2, A in position 4) follows typical English patterns
- It’s neither too easy nor impossibly hard
