Overview

Lingyang is a 5-Star permanent Glacio Gauntlet DPS from the Liondance Troupe in Jinzhou. His entire kit revolves around the Striding Lion state — an aerial combat mode that dramatically enhances all his attacks. Lingyang is a classic Hyper Carry Main DPS who demands significant on-field time during his burst window and requires a fully buffed Outro handoff from supports before he performs his core combo. The defining feature of his kit is the Lion’s Spirit Forte Gauge (max 100), which is built via his Resonance Skill (Furious Punches), Intro Skill, and Liberation. Once full, a Heavy Attack triggers Glorious Plunge — launching Lingyang airborne and entering Striding Lion, replacing all Basic Attacks with Feral Gyrate and all Resonance Skills with Mountain Roamer, both dealing significantly enhanced Glacio DMG.

Lingyang’s Resonance Liberation (Strive: Lion’s Vigor) is central to his rotation in two key ways: it adds a massive +50% Glacio DMG Bonus for 14 seconds, and it reduces Lion’s Spirit consumption speed by 50% — extending the Striding Lion state from ~5 seconds to up to 10 seconds. This doubled duration is his highest single-rotation damage window and why you should always enter Striding Lion via Liberation rather than Heavy Attack alone. His Inherent Skill 2 (Diligent Practice) creates a crucial combo loop: within 3 seconds of each Feral Gyrate (Basic Attack in Striding Lion), the next Mountain Roamer (Skill) deals a bonus 150% hit — making the optimal aerial loop a strict alternating Feral Gyrate P1 → Mountain Roamer → Feral Gyrate P2 → Mountain Roamer chain rather than button-mashing.

As of February 2026, Lingyang is placed in B Tier. He is a permanently available 5-star character whose damage output trails the top-tier limited DPS characters. His unique aerial playstyle makes him fun and genuinely capable of clearing endgame content, but his higher skill floor (aerial dodging, strict alternating combo timing, aerial hitboxes on bosses) combined with being outperformed by A and S tier DPS characters in equivalent teams places him below his peers on pure meta rankings. His best teammate is Sanhua, who provides +38% Basic ATK DMG Deepen via Outro — the most synergistic buff possible for Lingyang’s Striding Lion basic attack loop.

🦁 Striding Lion System — Lion’s Spirit, Forte State & Liberation Synergy

◆ Lion’s Spirit Forte Gauge (0–100)
  • Charged by: Furious Punches (Resonance Skill) +20, Intro Skill Lion Awakens +40, Resonance Liberation +60
  • Fastest path to 100 Spirit: Intro Skill (+40) → Liberation (+60) = instant 100 Spirit, bypassing the need for any Basic Attack grinding in the pre-burst rotation
  • Spirit depletes during Striding Lion. With Liberation active, depletion speed is halved — extending airborne duration to ~10s vs. ~5s without
  • When Spirit drops below 10, Basic Attack auto-executes Stormy Kicks → Tail Strike, restoring Concerto Energy and ending the Striding Lion window gracefully
◆ Striding Lion Aerial State
  • Replaces Basic Attacks with Feral Gyrate (P1 + P2) and Resonance Skill with Mountain Roamer
  • Inherent Skill 2 (Diligent Practice): Within 3s of Feral Gyrate, the next Mountain Roamer deals +150% bonus Glacio hit — must alternate strictly, never chain two same-type attacks
  • Lingyang is airborne — immune to many ground-based AoE attacks from bosses, but harder to dodge projectiles. Great against melee-only bosses
  • The +50% Glacio DMG Bonus from Liberation applies during the entire Striding Lion window — do NOT wait before activating the airborne state after Liberation
◆ Strive: Lion’s Vigor (Liberation)
  • +50% Glacio DMG Bonus for 14 seconds — Lingyang’s best single buff, making this the highest-priority skill in the entire kit
  • Restores 60 Lion’s Spirit on cast — combined with Intro’s +40, fills Forte gauge instantly in a single swap-in sequence
  • Halves Lion’s Spirit consumption in Striding Lion — doubles the aerial DPS window duration from 5s to ~10s (9 total alternating attacks under ideal conditions)
  • Energy cost: 125 Resonance Energy — manageable with S2’s Intro +10 Energy bonus and Cosmic Ripples’ ER substat/passive
◆ Outro Skill — Frosty Marks (S4 Upgrade)
  • Releases an AoE shockwave dealing Glacio DMG (587.94% ATK multiplier) at S4+ — Lingyang himself becomes a capable Sub-DPS after his burst window ends
  • S4 effect: Outro also grants all team members +20% Glacio DMG Bonus for 30s — meaningful team-wide buff that can persist into the next DPS rotation
  • Without S4, Outro only deals damage — no team buff. For team compositions using Lingyang as a buff provider, S4 is the most important sequence investment
  • Concerto Energy is restored throughout Striding Lion (each Lion’s Spirit consumed = Concerto Energy gained) — Outro fires reliably at the end of every aerial burst window

Strengths & Weaknesses

✓ Strengths

  • Unique aerial playstyle — Striding Lion airborne combat is one of the most visually distinct and mechanically unique DPS states in all of Wuthering Waves; no other character has a comparable combat mode
  • +50% Glacio DMG Bonus from Liberation is one of the highest self-buff percentages in the game — effectively built into his kit at S0 with zero external conditions required
  • Burst rotation is straightforward: Intro → Liberation → Heavy Attack → alternate Feral Gyrate/Mountain Roamer loop — easy to execute at a basic level; damage ramp is consistent every rotation
  • Aerial immunity to many ground-based boss attacks — can avoid certain ground-slam patterns and AoE sweeps that ground-based DPS must dodge, providing a practical combat advantage in specific encounters
  • Permanent banner availability — unlike most S/A-tier DPS characters requiring limited pulls, Lingyang can always be obtained from the Standard Convene, making him reliable for new players who missed limited event banners

✗ Weaknesses

  • Below-average 5-star DPS output — Lingyang trails other Main DPS characters of similar rarity/investment significantly. Prydwen’s calculations show him behind Jiyan, Encore, Calcharo, and most A-tier DPS in optimal team conditions
  • High aerial skill floor — the strict alternating Feral Gyrate/Mountain Roamer loop is punishing if broken; accidental double-attacks of the same type skip the Diligent Practice bonus. Aerial positioning and boss hitboxes require significant practice to master
  • Extreme on-field time dependency — swapping out mid-Striding Lion causes meaningful damage loss. In double-DPS team compositions requiring quickswap, Lingyang is poorly suited and falls further behind in DPS rankings
  • Niche Glacio element — few strong Glacio supports exist (Baizhi at S6 and Zhezhi at S-Tier are the main partners). Without an appropriate Glacio DMG Deepen Outro, his damage distribution across too many small hits results in lower burst ceiling
  • Anti-stagger and aerial hitbox issues — many boss attacks at higher difficulty levels can knock Lingyang out of Striding Lion, completely resetting his burst window and losing the Liberation duration. Airborne combat is harder to cancel for damage avoidance

Skill Leveling Priority

Priority Skill Reason
★★★★★ 1st Forte Circuit — Lv.10 Forte Circuit governs all Striding Lion enhanced attacks — Feral Gyrate, Mountain Roamer, Glorious Plunge, Stormy Kicks, and Tail Strike. The bulk of Lingyang’s total DPS comes from these enhanced states (Basic Attack 30% + Resonance Skill 30% in Striding Lion according to Wutheringlab). Always max first — every level meaningfully increases multipliers on the skills that deal the most damage
★★★★ 2nd Resonance Liberation — Lv.8–10 Liberation’s direct Glacio DMG scales with level, and more importantly it enables the extended Striding Lion window and provides the +50% Glacio DMG Bonus. Higher skill level = higher DMG on the opening Liberation strike. Second most important for damage output per Prydwen and Game8 priority rankings
★★★ 3rd Intro Skill — Lv.6–8 Lion Awakens provides +40 Lion’s Spirit on entry (essential for the instant 100 Spirit combo with Liberation), and its DMG scales with level. With the Inherent Skill 1 bonus (+50% Intro DMG), this is a meaningful damage hit every rotation. Upgrade alongside Liberation
★★★ 3rd Normal Attack — Lv.6–8 Used heavily during the pre-burst phase when building Forte via the BA3→Furious Punches loop (when Liberation is not yet available). Normal Attack level also increases Feral Roars (Special BA5) multiplier. Upgrade alongside Intro Skill as co-third priority per Game8’s recommendation
★★ Last Resonance Skill — Lv.4–6 Furious Punches and Ancient Arts deal modest Glacio DMG outside Striding Lion. Used mainly for Lion’s Spirit generation. While Furious Punches is used frequently, its level primarily affects pre-burst Spirit building rather than burst damage. Lowest upgrade priority — cap at Lv.6 until all others are maxed

Cosmic Ripples 5★ Limited Crit Rate 36% Best in Slot (106.2%). Passive provides stacking ER (helps Liberation uptime) + Basic Attack DMG Bonus on Skill hit and Resonance Skill DMG Bonus on Basic Attack hit — directly mirroring the Diligent Practice alternating loop. Self-sustaining buff cycle that scales perfectly with Lingyang’s optimal aerial rotation. 36% Crit Rate substat also dramatically eases stat budgeting
Abyss Surges 5★ Limited Crit DMG 48.6% 105.3% — Exceptional Crit DMG substat (48.6%). Searing Feather stacks grant ATK% on Resonance Skill hits (up to 5 stacks + bonus at max), aligning well with Mountain Roamer spam during Striding Lion. A strong alternative when Cosmic Ripples is not available
Hollow Mirage 5★ Standard Crit Rate 24.3% 104.2% — +ATK% stacks on hit (up to 2×) + additional ATK + DEF after Liberation use — aligns well with post-Liberation Striding Lion burst window. Available from the standard banner, making it accessible without limited pulls. Preferred over Static Mist for Lingyang due to the Liberation proc bonus
Originite: Type IV 5★ Standard Crit Rate 24.3% 103.0% — Crit Rate substat at 24.3% and +ATK on cast — versatile standard Gauntlet option. Performance is very close to Hollow Mirage. A functional choice from the standard banner when other options aren’t available
Stonard 4★ Crit Rate 20.2% Best 4-star at 88.9%. Crit Rate substat + passive grants +Liberation DMG Bonus on Resonance Skill use (up to +54% at R5 for 15s) — directly amplifies Lingyang’s Liberation strike multiplier. Best 4-star Gauntlet option by a meaningful margin
Gauntlets#21D / Tragicomedy 4★ ATK 30.3% 86.5% / 82.8% F2P — ATK-substat Gauntlets with passives providing +ATK stacks (from Liberation use or Resonance Skill use). Serviceable budget options while farming for Stonard or saving for Cosmic Ripples. Always prefer Stonard over these when available

Best Echo Sets

★ Best in Slot — Hypercarry

Lingering Tunes (5-PC)

2-PC: +10% ATK — unconditional base damage boost applied to all of Lingyang’s hits regardless of state

5-PC: While on-field, ATK increases by +5% every 1.5s (stacks up to 4× = +20% ATK additional after 6s on-field) + Outro Skill DMG +60%. Lingyang’s Striding Lion window lasts 10s+ with Liberation — he will always reach full 4 stacks before his first Stormy Kicks ender

Recommended Main Echo: Lampylumen Myriad — provides +12% Resonance Skill DMG Bonus to Lingyang when Echo Skill lands (used just before entering Striding Lion after Liberation). Its Echo Skill also deals Glacio DMG that benefits from Lingyang’s +50% Glacio buff from Liberation

Alt — Consistent Option

Freezing Frost (5-PC)

2-PC: +10% Glacio DMG — unconditional elemental damage boost that applies to every single hit in Lingyang’s kit

5-PC: Basic Attack or Heavy Attack use → +10% Glacio DMG Bonus per proc, stacking up to 3× for a total of +30% additional Glacio DMG after 3 hits (lasts 15s) — Lingyang reaches 3 stacks within his first 3 Feral Gyrate hits in Striding Lion

Recommended Main Echo: Lampylumen Myriad (same as Lingering Tunes). Freezing Frost is Lingyang’s second-best set at 98.9% per Prydwen. Preferred for quickswap compositions since Lingering Tunes’ 5-PC requires on-field ramp time that quickswap can’t achieve

Early / F2P Bridge Mix

Freezing Frost (2-PC) + Lingering Tunes (2-PC)

Combined: +10% Glacio DMG + +10% ATK — a strong stat foundation without needing the demanding 5-piece set build. Recommended for early/mid-game players who don’t yet have fully tuned 5-piece sets

Note: Both Lingyang and Sanhua (his best teammate) use Freezing Frost, making echo farming more efficient — you can gear both characters from the same domain

★ Best Team — Sanhua Hypercarry

Lingyang + Sanhua + Verina / Baizhi

Main DPS
Lingyang
Lingering Tunes
Sub-DPS / Buffer
Sanhua
Moonlit Clouds
Healer
Verina / Baizhi
Rejuvenating Glow

Lingyang’s best team composition. Sanhua’s Outro provides +38% Basic ATK DMG Deepen directly to Lingyang — the single most impactful buff for his Striding Lion Feral Gyrate loop. The standard rotation is Verina Outro → Sanhua Outro → Lingyang Intro → Liberation → Striding Lion burst combo, ensuring Lingyang enters his burst window with both ATK buffs and the +15% All DMG Deepen from Verina. Baizhi’s +15% ATK (single-target) is the F2P substitution when Verina isn’t available.

Premium Glacio Team

Lingyang + Zhezhi + Shorekeeper

Main DPS
Lingyang
Lingering Tunes
Sub-DPS / Glacio Buffer
Zhezhi
Glacio Deepen Outro
Support / Healer
Shorekeeper
Stellar Symphony

Zhezhi (S-Tier) provides off-field Glacio attacks and a Glacio DMG Deepen Outro that significantly boosts Lingyang’s entire airborne combo. Shorekeeper provides team-wide Crit Rate/DMG buffs and sustain. This is Lingyang’s highest-ceiling premium composition — but requires two limited-banner characters. The Glacio Resonance bonus (Glacial Enhancement) also provides passive defense penetration when the team has 3 Glacio characters.

F2P Budget Team

Lingyang + Sanhua + Baizhi

Main DPS
Lingyang
Lingering Tunes
Sub-DPS / Buffer
Sanhua
Moonlit Clouds / Freezing Frost
Healer
Baizhi
Rejuvenating Glow

The fully free F2P composition — both Sanhua and Baizhi are either free or standard 4-star easily obtainable characters. Sanhua’s +38% Basic ATK DMG Deepen Outro remains the core buff, while Baizhi provides healing, Euphonia ATK buff (+15% ATK), and at S6 a bonus +12% Glacio DMG Bonus — making Baizhi at S6 a notable Glacio team synergy pick.

Optimal Burst Rotation

Burst Combo (Liberation Available)
[Verina/Baizhi Outro] → [Sanhua Outro] → Intro (Lingyang in, +40 Lion’s Spirit) → Lampylumen Myriad Echo → Liberation (+60 Spirit = 100 Full) → Heavy Attack: Glorious Plunge (enter Striding Lion) → Feral Gyrate P1 → Mountain Roamer → Feral Gyrate P2 → Mountain Roamer → Feral Gyrate P1 → Mountain Roamer → Feral Gyrate P2 → Mountain Roamer → Feral Gyrate P1 → Stormy Kicks → Tail Strike → Outro
Pre-Burst Phase (Liberation NOT Available)
BA1 → BA2 → BA3 → Furious Punches → BA4 → Furious Punches → BA5/Feral Roars → Furious Punches → Repeat until Heavy Attack: Glorious Plunge available → Striding Lion Combo (without Liberation bonus — use this path only if Liberation CD is unavailable)

💡 Key Tips: Never enter Striding Lion via Heavy Attack alone if Liberation is available — Liberation provides 50% reduced Spirit consumption, doubling your aerial window. Echo (Lampylumen Myriad) should be cast after Liberation to benefit from its +50% Glacio DMG Bonus on the Echo’s hits. During aerial Striding Lion, STRICTLY alternate Feral Gyrate → Mountain Roamer — chaining two Feral Gyrates in a row wastes the Diligent Practice +150% bonus hit. Target: 9 independent alternating attacks under ideal Liberation-buffed window. Rotation time: ~12.7s per Prydwen calculations.

Resonance Chain (Sequences)

Chain Effect Value & Notes
S1 Enhanced Anti-Interruption during Liberation / Lion’s Vigor state Does NOT increase damage — purely a survivability / QoL upgrade. Reduces knockback during Striding Lion aerial combo, helping maintain aerial position and preventing premature state end. Most impactful for high-difficulty content where boss attacks can interrupt the airborne burst
S2 ★ Intro Skill restores +10 Resonance Energy (once every 20s) Meaningful energy QoL — helps close the Liberation recharge gap between rotations, reducing reliance on ER-substat echo rolls. Even without ER builds, S2 ensures Lingyang reliably recharges Liberation for the next rotation via Intro + teammate Outro chain. Good value sequence
S3 ★ During Liberation: +20% Basic ATK DMG Bonus, +10% Resonance Skill DMG Bonus Direct damage buffs that apply during the entire Striding Lion window (which is activated via Liberation). +20% Basic ATK DMG Bonus amplifies every Feral Gyrate P1/P2 and Stormy Kicks hit; +10% Resonance Skill DMG Bonus amplifies every Mountain Roamer. One of Lingyang’s better damage sequences — meaningful improvement across all hits in the aerial loop
S4 ★★ Outro Skill (Frosty Marks): all team members gain +20% Glacio DMG Bonus for 30s Best team utility sequence. Transforms Lingyang’s Outro from a damage-only strike into a team-wide Glacio DMG buffer (+20% for 30s). In a Glacio-heavy team (e.g., Lingyang + Zhezhi + Baizhi S6), this creates an overlapping Glacio DMG Bonus chain. Also unlocks Lingyang as a Sub-DPS buffer in a second team for two-team content
S5 Liberation additionally deals Glacio DMG = 200% ATK on cast Adds a bonus Glacio hit (200% ATK) to the Liberation cast — modest flat damage increase. Benefits from the +50% Glacio DMG Bonus since it’s cast during Liberation’s own buff window. Lowest direct damage return of the later sequences
S6 ★★ In Striding Lion: within 3s after each Mountain Roamer, next Basic ATK gains +100% Basic ATK DMG Bonus Highest damage sequence. Essentially doubles the Basic ATK DMG Bonus on Feral Gyrate P1 following every Mountain Roamer in the alternating loop — the exact pattern Lingyang repeats 4–5 times per burst window. This is a significant ~15–20% total DPS increase according to Wutheringlab calculations. If investing in sequences, S6 is the goal
