Jianxin doesn’t get talked about nearly enough. She’s one of those standard banner 5-stars that most players either overlook or underestimate — but if you take the time to understand her kit, she brings a genuinely unique combination of crowd control, shielding, healing, and Liberation buffing that very few characters can match.
She’s not an S-tier powerhouse in 3.2, but she’s a reliable, easy-to-build utility unit that can make a real difference in the right team, especially for players still building their roster. Let’s get into everything you need to know.
Who Is Jianxin?
Jianxin is a 5-star Aero Gauntlet resonator and a Taoist monk who is the successor of Fengyiquan — a formidable martial art. She grew up in a Taoist community and has dedicated her life to mastering the art of harnessing environmental Chi to protect others and purify both body and mind. In story terms, you actually meet her early in the game helping locate a missing person in Jinzhou.
In combat, she’s a versatile Aero sub-DPS and support hybrid who can group enemies, generate shields, provide minor healing, and amplify the next character’s Resonance Liberation damage through her Outro Skill. She’s one of those jack-of-all-trades characters — she doesn’t do any one thing at an extreme level, but she does a lot of useful things consistently.
Her biggest strength and what makes her worth investing in even in 3.2 is her accessibility: she’s available on the standard banner, she works at S0 without needing Sequences to be useful, and she pairs well with a wide variety of DPS characters.

How Jianxin’s Kit Works
Chi — The Core Resource
Everything in Jianxin’s kit feeds into building Chi, her Forte Circuit resource. She can hold up to 120 Chi and generates it from:
- Normal Attack Fengyiquan hitting targets
- Resonance Skill (Calming Air) — both the tap and hold versions
- Chi Counter and Chi Parry landing on enemies
- Intro Skill (Essence of Tao) on hit
Once her Chi gauge is full, she can hold down Heavy Attack to perform Heavy Attack: Primordial Chi Spiral, entering the Zhoutian Progress state. This is her big personal damage window.
Zhoutian Progress — Shields and Damage
During Zhoutian Progress, Jianxin takes 50% reduced damage and continuously consumes Chi to hit nearby enemies. As the progress accumulates, she passes through different Zhoutian thresholds — Minor Zhoutian and Major Zhoutian — each granting a progressively stronger shield. The shields protect your entire team and scale with her build, making her genuinely useful as an off-tank in fights where survivability matters.
Resonance Skill — Parry and Counter
This is one of Jianxin’s most interesting mechanics. When you hold her Resonance Skill, she enters a Parry Stance — she takes zero damage from attacks during this window, even from bosses, and retaliates with a Chi Counter that deals Aero DMG and generates Chi. It’s a high-skill tool that rewards timing, but it also means she has an inherent survivability that most sub-DPS characters don’t have.
Resonance Liberation — Crowd Control
Her Liberation pulls enemies together into a wind field and deals continuous Aero DMG, then hits again when the field expires. It’s one of the best grouping tools in the game against lighter enemies. The key caveat: it’s less effective against heavy or boss-type enemies that can’t be pulled, so she shines more in mob content than in pure single-target boss fights.
Outro Skill — The Team Value
Her Outro buffs the next resonator’s Resonance Liberation DMG by 38%. This is the primary reason she’s in so many teams — if you’re running a DPS who deals a significant portion of their damage through Liberation, Jianxin’s Outro is a big, reliable amplifier.
Skill Priority
Support/Sub-DPS Build:
- Resonance Liberation — Top priority. More damage from the Liberation means better grouping and more Outro Skill value.
- Resonance Skill — Second. Contributes to Chi generation and personal damage.
- Basic Attack — Level this alongside Resonance Skill.
- Forte Circuit — Improves her shield strength and personal damage during Zhoutian.
- Intro Skill — Level last.
If running her as main DPS (higher Sequences): Flip the priority — put Forte Circuit first, then Liberation, then Basic Attack.
Best Weapons for Jianxin
Jianxin’s kit is fairly general and doesn’t lock into a specific DMG type, which means she benefits from a fairly wide range of Gauntlet weapons. That said, Energy Regen is arguably her most important weapon stat — her Liberation uptime directly determines how much grouping and Outro buffing she can do per fight.
5-Star Options
Abyss Surges — Best Overall Pick This is her best permanent weapon option. The Energy Regen stat dramatically eases her build requirements, the passive provides a solid ATK increase, and the additional DMG bonus to Basic Attacks and Skills is a welcome bonus. It makes her Liberation feel consistently available without needing to over-invest in Energy Regen through echoes and sub-stats.
Verity’s Handle Strong choice specifically for Liberation-focused Jianxin builds. Easy passive to activate and directly enhances her primary damage source. If you have it, it’s competitive with Abyss Surges.
Moongazer’s Sigil Another viable 5-star option. Increases ATK and Liberation damage when using abilities. Solid but slightly harder to fully maximize than the options above.
4-Star / F2P Options
Marcato Her best 4-star option, especially for pure support builds. It generates additional Concerto Energy on Resonance Skill use, which directly improves how quickly she can cycle rotations and get her Outro Skill firing. If you’re using her as a support rather than a damage dealer, Marcato is the smart pick.
Stonard A decent alternative when you’re still building her out. Offers some useful stats even if it’s not the most optimized choice.
Battle Pass Gauntlet (Gauntlets of Night) Provides Crit Rate and Liberation DMG bonus after skill use. The passive lines up with her kit well enough, though it’s outperformed by Abyss Surges in most practical scenarios.
Best Echo Sets for Jianxin
Moonlit Clouds (5-Piece) — Best Set Overall
This is Jianxin’s go-to echo set in almost every situation. The 2-piece bonus gives Energy Regen for faster Liberation cycling. The 5-piece effect grants an ATK buff to the next character after she triggers her Outro Skill — which is exactly what you want from a sub-DPS support who rotates in, uses Liberation, and rotates out.
Run Impermanence Heron as your main echo. It provides Energy Regen on activation, increases Jianxin’s Liberation uptime, and the passive boosts the next character’s damage after she uses Outro — stacking perfectly with the 5-piece Moonlit Clouds bonus.
Sierra Gale / Whistling Storm (Aero Sets) — Avoid
A common beginner mistake is running Sierra Gale on Jianxin because she’s Aero. Don’t do it. Jianxin is not a damage dealer — DMG Bonus stats are wasted on her. Moonlit Clouds’ team utility will always outperform a damage-boosting set on a support-focused character.
Echo Main Stats and Sub-Stats
Main Stats to Target:
- 4-Cost Echo: Crit Rate or Crit DMG
- 3-Cost Echoes: Aero DMG Bonus or Energy Regen (Energy Regen if you’re having trouble reaching comfortable Liberation uptime)
- 1-Cost Echoes: ATK%
Note on Energy Regen: Jianxin’s fatal flaw pointed out by the community since launch is that her Concerto Energy and Resonance Energy generation is relatively slow. Prioritizing Energy Regen through weapons and sub-stats is important — it directly determines whether her Liberation is available every rotation.
Sub-Stats Priority:
- Energy Regen (until you can comfortably cycle Liberation every rotation)
- Crit Rate / Crit DMG
- ATK%
- Resonance Liberation DMG Bonus
Best Team Compositions
Jianxin’s Outro Skill specifically buffs Resonance Liberation DMG, so she’s most valuable in teams where the main DPS deals a significant portion of their damage through Liberation. Keep that in mind as the filter when picking her teammates.
Team 1: Xiangli Yao + Jianxin + Verina
Xiangli Yao is one of the better Liberation-focused DPS units, and Jianxin’s Outro hands him a 38% Liberation DMG buff right before his big damage window. Verina fills the third slot with universal healing, ATK buffs, and team-wide sustain. A clean, comfortable team that covers all the bases.
Team 2: Iuno + Jianxin + Rover (Aero)
Iuno is a newer Aero character who majorly scales off Resonance Liberation — making her one of Jianxin’s best pairings in the current version. Rover (Aero) handles healing and support duties while providing Aero DMG buffs. Jianxin’s crowd control and Liberation buffing give Iuno significantly more damage value than she’d have with a generic support.
Team 3: Calcharo + Jianxin + Yangyang or Verina
An older but well-tested setup. Calcharo’s signature attack — Heavy Attack: Death Messenger — counts as Resonance Liberation damage, meaning Jianxin’s Outro Skill amplifies it directly. Yangyang in the third slot provides additional Resonance Energy regeneration through her Outro, helping both Jianxin and Calcharo cycle their abilities faster. If you started the game with Calcharo and Jianxin from the standard banner, this is a natural team to run.
Team 4: Havoc Rover + Jianxin + Verina (Early Game)
For newer players, this is one of the most accessible team setups available. Havoc Rover’s Liberation deals massive damage, and Jianxin’s Intro Skill significantly boosts it. Combined with Verina’s healing and ATK buffs, this team can clear dungeon content and early endgame stages with ease — and it costs nothing extra to build since both Rover and Verina are free characters.
Rotation Guide
Jianxin’s rotation isn’t complicated, but the sequencing matters for maximizing her utility:
- Enter on Intro Skill (Essence of Tao) — generates Chi and deals Aero DMG
- Use Resonance Liberation immediately — groups enemies and begins the CC window; also important for Outro buffing timing
- Use Resonance Skill (Calming Air, hold version) — enters Parry Stance, generates Chi, counters any incoming attack for bonus Chi if timed well
- Run two full Basic Attack combos — builds Chi efficiently
- Once Chi is full, hold Heavy Attack (Primordial Chi Spiral) — enters Zhoutian Progress, deals damage, and generates shields
- Use Echo Skill
- Swap out to your main DPS — Outro Skill fires, buffing their Liberation DMG by 38%
The most important thing is timing the swap out correctly. Your main DPS should be ready to use their Liberation the moment Jianxin’s Outro activates. Don’t waste that 38% buff window by swapping to a character who isn’t ready to burst.
Sequence Nodes — Worth Pursuing?
Jianxin is complete at S0 for support purposes. You don’t need to invest Lunites into her Sequences to get solid value out of her in any of the team compositions above.
S2 is considered a meaningful breakthrough — it notably improves her overall effectiveness and begins to open up DPS-oriented builds if you want to experiment with that.
S6 is where she could theoretically function as a main DPS, but reaching S6 on a standard 5-star is an extremely long-term investment that most players shouldn’t prioritize over pulling limited characters.
The summary: use her at S0, enjoy the utility, and spend your Lunites on limited characters instead.
Ascension and Level-Up Materials
Jianxin’s key materials are:
- LF Howler Core and upgrades (enemy drops from Howlers — find them through the Echo Hunting directory in your Guidebook)
- Roaring Rock Fist — boss drop from the Feilian Beringal, located under the Giant Banyan in Dim Forest
- Lantern Berry — scattered throughout Tiger’s Maw Mine in abundance
Her Forte materials also require Cadence Seed variants from Forgery Challenges and Unending Destruction from weekly bosses. Max her to Level 90 for the full stat payoff — her shield strength and Liberation damage both scale meaningfully with higher levels.
Is Jianxin Worth Building in 3.2?
Honestly — yes, especially if you already have her from the standard banner. She won’t carry the hardest endgame content the way S-tier carries like Jinhsi or Carlotta can, but she fills a genuine niche that cheaper characters struggle to replicate. The combination of crowd control, shielding, minor healing, and a 38% Liberation buff is a real package — it’s just less flashy than what the headline S-tier characters offer.
For new and mid-game players especially, she’s excellent. She pairs naturally with Rover, she’s free to obtain, she’s easy to build, and she makes the early-game experience measurably smoother. If you have a Liberation-focused main DPS and no dedicated buffer for them, Jianxin is worth dusting off and leveling up.
