Jiyan Overview
Jiyan is the leader of the Midnight Rangers and one of the original 5-star DPS characters added to Wuthering Waves at launch. He wields a Broadblade and commands the Aero element. His entire kit is built around one thing — entering Qingloong Mode via his Resonance Liberation and unleashing empowered Heavy Attacks that deal massive AoE Aero damage.
Before his Liberation, Jiyan builds Resolve stacks (up to 60) through Basic Attacks and his Intro Skill. When he hits 30 stacks, his Resonance Skill deals 20% more damage. His Resonance Liberation gets an extra damage instance when he enters Qingloong Mode with stacks loaded. During Qingloong Mode, his Basic Attacks convert into powerful Heavy Attacks that group enemies and shred them.
Outside of Qingloong Mode, his damage is modest. Everything in his build is designed to shorten the setup time and extend the damage window.
Jiyan Best Weapons in Wuthering Waves 3.4
1. Verdant Summit (Best in Slot)
Verdant Summit is Jiyan’s signature 5-star Broadblade and the best weapon for him by a clear margin. It has a Crit DMG secondary stat and its passive directly boosts Heavy Attack DMG Bonus — the exact damage type that powers his entire Qingloong Mode rotation. If you own this weapon, equip it and never look back.
2. Ages of Harvest (Strong 5-Star Alternative)
Ages of Harvest is a solid 5-star alternative from the standard banner. It provides ATK and DMG bonuses that translate well into Jiyan’s kit. It is not as specialized as Verdant Summit but the raw stats still perform well, especially if you do not have access to his signature weapon.
3. Lustrous Razor (Best F2P Option)
Lustrous Razor is a 4-star Broadblade that you can obtain from the standard weapon banner and is the strongest free-to-play option for Jiyan. It has Energy Regen as a secondary stat, which directly helps him hit that important 130% Energy Regen threshold. The passive also boosts ATK, making it a reliable all-around weapon for Jiyan players on a budget.
4. Autumntrace (Good F2P Alternative)
Autumntrace is another strong 4-star Broadblade option. It builds ATK% stacks over time, which increases his damage output during longer fights and endgame content like Tower of Adversity. At higher refinement levels, it becomes very competitive as a free-to-play pick.
Jiyan Best Echoes in Wuthering Waves 3.4
Best Echo Set: Sierra Gale (5-Piece)
The full 5-piece Sierra Gale set is Jiyan’s best-in-slot Echo setup. The 2-piece bonus gives a flat 10% Aero DMG boost. The 5-piece effect activates after using his Intro Skill, providing an additional Aero DMG boost that lines up perfectly with his rotation entry point. Since Jiyan almost always enters the field via Intro Skill in a proper team, this bonus is essentially always active during his damage window.
Alternative: Sierra Gale (2-Piece) + Lingering Tunes (2-Piece)
If you are still farming and do not have a strong full Sierra Gale set, mixing 2 pieces of Sierra Gale with 2 pieces of Lingering Tunes is a practical placeholder. Lingering Tunes gives up to 30% ATK and boosts Outro Skill DMG by 35%. It lacks the Aero DMG synergy of a full Sierra Gale set, but the ATK boost keeps his numbers respectable while you continue farming the ideal set.
Best Main Echo: Nightmare: Feilian Beringal
Nightmare: Feilian Beringal is Jiyan’s best main echo. When activated, it deals AoE Aero damage and provides a significant boost to his Heavy Attack DMG — the core of his Qingloong Mode output. Always slot this as your 4-cost main echo. The standard Feilian Beringal echo works as a budget option if you have not farmed the Nightmare variant yet, though the Nightmare version is noticeably stronger.

Main Stats
- Cost 4 (Nightmare: Feilian Beringal): Heavy Attack DMG Bonus or Crit DMG — Heavy ATK DMG Bonus is generally preferred if your Crit is already well-balanced
- Cost 3 (x2): Aero DMG Bonus on both
- Cost 1 (x2): ATK% on both
Substat Priority
- Crit Rate and Crit DMG (aim for roughly 1:2 ratio)
- Heavy Attack DMG Bonus
- ATK%
- Energy Regeneration — hit at least 130% total before investing in anything else
Energy Regen is critical for Jiyan. Falling below 130% Energy Regen means his Liberation uptime drops and the entire rotation falls apart. Always reach that threshold first, then focus on Crit and Heavy ATK DMG.
Jiyan Skill Priority
Level up his skills in this order:
- Resonance Liberation — Qingloong Mode is his entire identity; upgrade this first always
- Forte Circuit — governs Resolve stack generation and the power of his enhanced attacks
- Resonance Skill — used during Qingloong Mode for extra damage and Resolve; important but third priority
- Outro Skill — provides buffs to teammates on swap-out; useful at higher investment levels
- Basic Attack — this is nearly unused in his actual combat rotation; leave it at level 1
Jiyan Best Teams in Wuthering Waves 3.4
Best Team: Jiyan + Iuno + Shorekeeper
This is Jiyan’s top team in patch 3.4. Iuno is the premier Heavy Attack DMG buffer in the game right now, providing roughly 50% Heavy Attack DMG amplification through her Outro Skill — a perfect fit for Jiyan’s Qingloong Mode. She also deals strong sub-DPS damage on her own and provides passive healing, which frees up the third slot. Shorekeeper fills that third slot as the best general support in the game, delivering team-wide Crit Rate, Crit DMG, ATK buffs, and sustained healing. Together, this trio is as close to optimal as Jiyan can get in 3.4.
Strong Alternative: Jiyan + Mortefi + Shorekeeper
Before Iuno was released, this was Jiyan’s go-to team — and it still performs very well in 3.4. Mortefi provides coordinated attacks that trigger during Jiyan’s Heavy Attack window and his Outro Skill gives a meaningful Heavy Attack DMG boost. Shorekeeper keeps the team healthy and stacks on top with Crit and ATK buffs. This team is slightly below Iuno+Shorekeeper but still a very solid setup for all endgame content.
Mono Aero Team: Jiyan + Iuno + Ciaccona
If you want a full Aero team, Ciaccona is an excellent third-slot pick alongside Iuno. She builds Aero Erosion stacks on enemies, applies strong Aero DMG buffs, and her buffs do not expire on swap — meaning Jiyan can enter mid-rotation and still benefit from them. This is a great option for players who prefer the Mono Aero playstyle and have Ciaccona built.
Budget Team: Jiyan + Mortefi + Verina
For players who do not have premium supports, Mortefi and Verina are both accessible and effective. Verina is still one of the best healers in the game — she provides team-wide ATK% buffs and a 15% DMG amplification through her kit. Mortefi handles the Heavy ATK DMG buffing side. This team clears all content reliably and is a great home base while farming for premium units.
Other Viable Supports
- Aero Rover — useful in Mono Aero compositions; provides Aero-based buffs and sub-DPS damage at zero pulling cost
- Yangyang — free 4-star Aero support with an energy-generating Outro Skill; a surprisingly handy pick for Jiyan if you are short on options
- Phrolova — newer dual DPS option that also brings some Heavy DMG buffing to the table; fits well in Jiyan teams needing a damage-dealing second slot
Jiyan Rotation Guide
Here is the standard rotation to get the most out of Jiyan in patch 3.4:
- Open with Shorekeeper — run her full combo and cast Stellarealm to activate team-wide buffs and healing
- Swap to Iuno — use her Liberation immediately to fill her Forte, enter New Moon state, chain Basic Attacks and Enhanced Resonance Skills to build Sentience stacks, then trigger her Concerto and swap out via Outro
- Her Outro hands Jiyan the ~50% Heavy Attack DMG amplification buff
- Swap to Jiyan via Intro Skill — this triggers Sierra Gale 5-piece bonus and builds Resolve stacks
- Use Jiyan’s Echo, then fire his Resonance Liberation to enter Qingloong Mode
- During Qingloong Mode: do the first Heavy Attack, wait for the teal dragon visual cue, immediately use Resonance Skill to max the DPS spike, then continue Heavy Attacks
- Use Resonance Skill again on cooldown to keep the rotation tight
- Exit via Outro Skill when Qingloong Mode ends and repeat from Shorekeeper
The key rule with Jiyan is: never waste Resolve stacks outside his Liberation window. Save them so his Liberation gets the bonus damage instance on cast.
Jiyan Sequences (Constellations) – Are They Worth It?
Jiyan performs well at Sequence 0 in patch 3.4. His base kit is complete and does not require duplicates to function. That said, his sequences do add real damage:
- S1 — adds extra Heavy Attack instances during Qingloong Mode; a nice DPS boost but not mandatory
- S3 — one of his stronger nodes, improving his burst damage ceiling noticeably
- S6 — significant power spike but extremely expensive to reach; only for dedicated Jiyan mains
In short, S0 Jiyan is fully viable for all 3.4 content. Do not pull duplicates unless you have resources to spare.
Is Jiyan Worth Building in Patch 3.4?
Yes — Jiyan is absolutely still worth building in 3.4. He is one of the cleanest main DPS characters in the game. His rotation is logical and easy to understand, his damage is reliable, and he brings both single-target and AoE coverage thanks to Qingloong Mode’s crowd-control effect. With Iuno now available, his team got a meaningful power boost that keeps him competitive even compared to newer DPS resonators.
He is especially worth the investment if you need a strong Aero-focused DPS or want a character that rewards good rotation habits without being overly complicated.
