Where To Go In Ancient Civilization Zone In Beast of Reincarnation

Ancient Civilization Zone in Beast of Reincarnation — every campsite, sword, armor, boss, and secret to find in this second zone of the game.

The Ancient Civilization Zone in Beast of Reincarnation is the second major area of the game. It is set in the ancient Kanto Region and covers Chapter 2, called Creeping Tendrils. This zone is bigger and more complex than the first area. It has locked bulkhead doors, an underground section, a surface section, two boss fights, and a handful of important pickups that you can easily miss.

This guide covers every campsite, both sword pickups, the armor you can find here, the lore painting, the new character you meet, and how to get through the main story without getting lost.

  • There are 9 campsites to discover in this zone.
  • You fight Lacerta here — twice.
  • You meet Mikoto for the first time here and unlock the respec feature.
  • Two swords are found in this zone: the Mechblade (Heavy) and the Thunderwave Sword.
  • There is one Lore Painting hidden in this area.
  • A Strongbox with armor is hidden in the eastern mountainside.
  • This zone has both an outside area and an underground area, which can be confusing to navigate.

Ancient Civilization Zone Overview

Unlike the Ogouchi Buffer Zone, which is free roam from the start, the Ancient Civilization Zone requires you to unlock areas before you can advance. Most of the progress is gated behind opening three Bulkhead doors. Each one requires you to find a control panel or power source first.

The zone is split between an underground section and a surface area. You start underground, work through tunnel ruins and a flooded reservoir, then eventually emerge back outside near the boss lair. It is easy to lose your sense of direction here, especially around the reservoir section where the path branches briefly.

You can get the game on PlayStation Store, Xbox, or Steam.

All 9 Campsites In The Ancient Civilization Zone

Campsites are your save and rest points. Finding all of them counts toward the Happy Camper bronze trophy. They unlock in order as you follow the main quest, so you will not miss them as long as you explore each area before moving on.

1. Ruins Path

This is the first campsite you hit after entering the zone. It sits between the first and second Bulkhead door, on the same level as an Elite Enemy that drops the Skill Amber: Binding Fang. There is also a control panel nearby used to open the first two bulkhead doors. Rest here before dealing with that elite.

2. Raging River

The Raging River campsite is in the Underground Ruins to the north of the area. This is where Emma has to figure out how to open the third Bulkhead door. This is one of the more confusing areas of the zone, as progress requires multiple steps across different rooms. Rest here and take stock of what you have left to do.

3. Abandoned Cliff Village: Entrance

From the Raging River campsite, travel west along the river to find this campsite at the end. It is right by the entrance of the Abandoned Cliff Village, which is inside a cave.

4. Tunnel Ruins: Interior

From the Raging River campsite, cross the river to the north and open the door there. Then follow the staircase to the top to find the Tunnel Ruins: Interior campsite.

5. Shopping Mall

Defeat the big golem at the Tunnel Ruins: Interior campsite, then make your way to the next room, where the Shopping Mall campsite is. Do not rush past this area — there are items nearby worth picking up.

6. Platform Entrance

From the Shopping Mall campsite, head downstairs to the room with the water pool and the tree on a small island. Stay to your left and you will reach this campsite.

7. Reservoir: Interior

After activating both generators in the main quest, the path to the Reservoir opens. Cross the big Reservoir hall to find this campsite at the end. The Mechblade (Heavy) sword and the zone’s Lore Painting are both found near this area.

8. Ruins Slope: Approach

After using a lightning stone on the reservoir controls, Emma opens the third Bulkhead and exits through a winding staircase to the top, where this campsite is. You are now back on the surface and close to the final boss fight of the chapter.

9. Nushi’s Lair Entrance

This campsite is right at the Nushi’s Lair Entrance. There is also a merchant here. This is the last campsite before the second Lacerta fight. Stock up, upgrade what you can, and make sure you are ready before heading through the gate.

Swords To Find In The Ancient Civilization Zone

Two swords can be picked up in this zone. Both are tied to story events, so neither requires any detours.

Mechblade (Heavy)

This sword is found south of the Reservoir: Interior campsite, through the room where Lacerta is first fought. It is on the other side of the hole in the ground that Emma and her companions comment on during the story — directly in front of the Lore Painting. You walk past it while following the main quest waypoint after the first Lacerta encounter. Do not miss it.

Thunderwave Sword

The Thunderwave Sword is earned through the main story. As you move through the Ancient Civilization Zone, you will eventually meet Mikoto for the first time. Your objective becomes saving him from an Elite Enemy. Once you defeat it, the Thunderwave Sword is added to your inventory. Its Tempest effect calls down lightning on nearby foes with each slash, making it a strong weapon for the rest of this chapter and beyond.

Armor To Find In The Ancient Civilization Zone

Garb of Tranquility

The Garb of Tranquility armor is hidden inside a strongbox on the eastern side of the zone’s map. The strongbox is located through a large pipe in the mountainside. Its most notable stat is that its enemy awareness rating is essentially nonexistent — enemies will not detect you unless you actively approach them. It is worth hunting down if you want to scout areas more quietly.

The Lore Painting In The Ancient Civilization Zone

There is one Lore Painting hidden in this zone. Finding it counts toward the Behold, the Truth bronze trophy, which requires discovering all nine lore paintings across the entire game.

The painting is found south of the Reservoir: Interior campsite, through the room where Lacerta is fought for the first time. It is on the other side of the hole in the ground that the characters comment on during the story. It sits in the same stretch of corridor as the Mechblade (Heavy) sword — pick up both at the same time so you do not have to backtrack.

How The Main Story Flows Through Ancient Civilization Zone

The chapter is called Creeping Tendrils and introduces the Kanto Region. Here is how the story progresses from entry to exit.

Opening the Bulkhead Doors

Progress through the zone is gated by three Bulkhead doors. The first two are opened by a control panel near the Ruins Path campsite. The third requires more steps — you need to find a Lightning Stone and use it on the Reservoir controls to get through.

First Lacerta Fight

As you progress through the zone you will reach a facility where the objective is to open a sealed gate by turning on the power. After turning on the power and opening the gate, following the main waypoint forward leads you directly to Lacerta’s boss arena.

Lacerta’s moveset is more complex than the game’s first boss, Rangifer, but once you understand the patterns it is not that hard. The key tell is that Lacerta often dives into the water before attacking. Use ranged weapons when it creates distance and move in for melee combos after successful parries. After taking enough damage, Lacerta retreats rather than dying — you are not done yet.

Finding the Lightning Stone and Meeting Mikoto

After the first Lacerta encounter, your next objective is to locate a Lightning Stone to power up the facility. The main quest waypoint leads you to a cutscene where you meet Mikoto, a strange boy with a mysterious power. Defeat the Elite Enemy threatening him to earn the Thunderwave Sword.

After speaking to Mikoto, you also unlock the ability to respec Emma and Koo’s attribute points using the Communicator in the Cleanse Walker. This is also how you pop the Degeneration bronze trophy — just save your game, reset an attribute once, then reload if you want to keep your build.

Activating the Reservoir Controls

Return to the Reservoir and find the Control Room nearby. Pull the lever and then head outside to collect the Lightning Stones required. After activating the Water Tank Control Panel, a sealed doorway opens. Head through it, climb the circular staircase, and ride the elevator to the upper area. This brings you out onto the surface near the Ruins Slope: Approach campsite.

Second and Final Lacerta Fight

From the Ruins Slope campsite, follow the objective marker to Nushi’s Lair. Open the massive gate using the nearby lever and continue toward the lake. Here you face Lacerta again. The first phase is similar to the earlier fight, though the creature is noticeably more aggressive. After defeating it, Lacerta fully restores its health and enters a tougher second phase immediately.

The same approach works here — use ranged weapons when the boss creates distance, parry close attacks, and wait for openings after bite and tail swipe moves. Stay patient and work it down. Once the second phase ends, a cutscene plays that reveals more about Violet’s backstory. Emma then wakes inside the Cleanse Walker, ending Chapter 2.

What To Prioritize Before Leaving The Ancient Civilization Zone

Once you leave this zone, you can return freely. Nothing is permanently missable in Beast of Reincarnation — the game lets you free-roam all areas even after finishing the story. That said, it is far more efficient to handle these things while you are already here.

  • Find all 9 campsites — each one discovered is progress toward the Happy Camper trophy.
  • Pick up the Mechblade (Heavy) near the Reservoir: Interior campsite after the first Lacerta fight.
  • Grab the Lore Painting in the same corridor as the Mechblade (Heavy).
  • Find the Garb of Tranquility armor via the large pipe in the eastern mountainside.
  • Use the Degeneration trophy trick — after meeting Mikoto, save your game, reset either Emma or Koo’s attributes once to pop the bronze trophy, then reload your save to undo the change if you want your points back.
  • Speak with every Keeper Golem you spot — there are close to 30 scattered across the entire game over two playthroughs, and this zone has several. Start building that count now.
