Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced treasure map locations are scattered across the Caribbean, and finding all of them is one of the best ways to earn reales, outfits, and rare design plans early in the game. This guide covers every treasure map region, how the coordinates work, what each dig site looks like, and what rewards you can expect from each chest.

How Treasure Maps Work in Black Flag Resynced
Every treasure map you pick up gets added to your Codex. Open it to see a set of coordinates along with a small sketch of the area. The sketch usually shows a landmark like a rock formation, a tree, or a ruined building near the dig spot. You can only dig once the map is unlocked in your inventory, so grab it before sailing off to the buried chest.
There are two kinds of treasure clues in the game. Regular Treasure Maps are found on bodies, in camps, warehouses, and inside smuggler dens. Map Fragments are broken pieces that need to be pieced together and restored through the Treasure Dealer shop in Great Inagua before they become usable. Each map carries two names: it is labeled after where you found it in your inventory, but once it moves into your Codex it gets renamed after the island where the buried chest actually sits. This is why the map you pick up in one city can lead you all the way across the Caribbean to dig somewhere else entirely.
It is worth sailing past every marked island early on just to unlock fast travel points. Many treasure chests sit right next to a dock or viewpoint, so having fast travel unlocked in advance saves a lot of sailing time later.
Northern Caribbean Treasure Map Locations
The northern islands hold some of the earliest treasure maps you will come across, including two inside Havana itself.
Havana Map 1
You will find this map within Havana’s walls. Head toward the spot where Kenway comments on a “poor fellow,” or where nearby NPCs are pointing and whispering down into a moat. Climb down and search the skeleton in a suit of armor near the short bridge at water level to pick up the map. This particular map is unusual because it shows both an aerial view of the treasure’s surroundings and a close-up sketch of the exact dig spot. Follow the coordinates south, out of the city, to the beach south of Havana. Look down as you approach the marked area until a dig prompt appears, then hold the dig button to unearth the chest. This is one of the simplest treasure maps in the game and a good one to solve first if you’re still learning how the coordinate system works.
Havana Map 2
This second Havana map is obtained by looting the warehouse in the northwestern part of the city. It leads to a chest at Anotto Bay, and this solve is far tougher than the first Havana map. When you arrive at the Anotto Bay shoreline, look for a destroyed diving bell sitting in the water and dive beneath it to find an underwater tunnel entrance. Follow the tunnel deep into the cave system until you reach a room full of pirate enemies and large explosive barrels. The chest is buried directly in front of the middle barrel, right by the exit that leads back outside. Clear the room carefully before digging, since fighting next to explosive barrels can get you killed fast. This chest rewards The Queen Anne’s Figurehead Design Plan and 3,000 reales.
Great Inagua Map
This map is found on the ledges near the docks of Great Inagua. It leads to a buried chest on Nassau, hidden past the manor near a large rock formation next to a tree. Digging it up rewards the Elite Sails Design Plan along with 3,000 reales.
Mariguana Island Map
This map is tucked inside a nook hidden by vines around a large rock formation near the center of Mariguana Island. It leads to a chest on Andreas Island, buried on a tiny landmass marked by three coconut trees. This one rewards the Harpoon Strength Ultimate Plan and 3,000 reales, making it well worth the detour for anyone upgrading the Jackdaw.
Nassau Map
Found via the Nassau Warehouse, this map leads to a buried chest on Isla Providencia. The dig site sits a short distance south of the southernmost viewpoint, in the sand beneath three palm trees along the shoreline. This chest rewards the Governor’s Outfit, one of the more distinctive cosmetic unlocks in the northern region. Note that Isla Providencia only becomes accessible once you reach a certain point in the main story, so you may need to come back for this one later.
Southern Caribbean Treasure Map Locations
The southern islands hold roughly a dozen more maps, and you will spend a good chunk of time island-hopping to collect them all. Several of these solves involve underwater tunnels, so keep your air supply in mind before diving in.
Corozal Map
Sitting right beside a cooking pot just outside a small camp, this map leads to a buried chest at Ambergris Key. Dive underwater and swim through the tunnels until you surface inside a small chest room with a dead-end tunnel branching off it. That dead end is where the dig site sits. This chest rewards the Pirate Captain Outfit and 2,000 reales.
Ambergris Key Map
Best picked up right after finishing the Corozal chest, since the two locations sit close together. This map is found in the upper section of a central dais and leads to a chest in Misteriosa. Fast travel to the Misteriosa viewpoint, but instead of jumping down immediately, turn around to spot a water fountain behind the Mayan temple. The dig site is a mound to the right of that fountain. This one rewards the Heavy Shot Ultimate Plan and 3,000 reales.
Santanillas Map
Climb up through the trees to reach a hilltop where you will find a skeleton holding this map. It leads to a chest in San Juan. Dive through the underwater tunnel, and as soon as you surface inside the smuggler’s cave, check beside the wheelbarrow ramp for the dig prompt. This chest rewards the Fire Barrel Strength Ultimate Plan and 3,000 reales.
Pinos Isle Map
Found in the northern ruins of Pinos Isle, guarded by a small group of enemies near the skeleton holding the map. It leads to a chest on the northeast shore of Cayman Sound, buried between two palm trees.
Tortuga Map
This map sits on the beach in the northern part of the Tortuga settlement, close to a boat you can use to fast travel back to the Jackdaw. It leads to a chest at Matanzas, buried behind a waterfall just past the Mayan Stelae in the southeast corner of the island. This chest rewards the Mortar Storage Ultimate Plan and 3,000 reales.
Petite Caverne Map
The skeleton holding this map is tied to a post at the back of an encampment, hidden behind several wooden crates and barrels. It leads to a chest in Tulum, buried near a couple of coconut trees in the sandy shoal south of the stronghold. This chest rewards the Fire Barrel Storage Ultimate Plan and 3,000 reales.
Map Fragments and the Treasure Dealer
Not every clue comes as a complete map. Preserved Map Fragments are torn pieces you steal from warehouses in settlements like Havana, Cat Island, and Matanzas. Once you have collected four fragments, take them to the Treasure Dealer shop in Great Inagua and pay 150 tobacco and 500 reales to restore the full map. This particular restoration points you to a chest buried on Sacrifice Island, hidden in the northern part of the island beneath the shade of two connected rock formations. It rewards the legendary Shade and Shadow Robes outfit along with the Wooden Eyeball trinket, whose unique perk causes pistol quickshots to instantly kill brute enemies. There is also a separate Tattered Map fragment type that you earn by destroying enemy ships until your Wanted Level climbs to higher thresholds, so naval combat is worth doing purely for the collectible payoff.
Underwater Shipwreck Treasure Chests
Separate from the main treasure maps, Black Flag Resynced also has seven Underwater Shipwrecks holding dozens of extra chests, 61 regular and 7 secret in total. These only unlock after finishing the “Diving for Medicines” mission, which also gives you the Diving Bell needed to reach them. Once unlocked, every shipwreck gets marked on your map automatically. Look for ship masts sticking out of the water, interact with them to use the Diving Bell, then swim through the wreck and open every chest you find. Chests get highlighted with a white dot when you hold the zoom button and nearby. Each one gives around 1,000 reales, making shipwreck diving one of the fastest ways to earn money early on. Watch for sharks patrolling near the wrecks; dodge sideways the moment you see a white glint appear on their mouth to avoid taking damage.
Blackbeard’s Treasure: A New Quest in Resynced
Blackbeard’s Treasure did not exist in the original Black Flag. It triggers after Chapter 8, once Edward Thatch dies exactly as he did in the original game. What changes is what happens right after: Kenway receives a special treasure map left behind by Blackbeard. Unlike every other map in the game, this one has no coordinates at all. Instead, it gives a single hand-drawn clue, a rough sketch of two landmasses with red X marks and arrows. Open the map in your Codex under the Maps section of the Database tab to study it closely. The word “Kingston” is written on the right side of the sketch, and the X sits above and to the left of it, which points you toward Anotto Bay, a smuggler location north of Kingston. When you arrive at Anotto Bay, three pirate ships will be waiting for you. Sink them first before attempting anything else, since fighting ships while trying to dive at the same time is a recipe for disaster.
Tips for Finding Every Treasure Chest
- Grab every map you see, even if you cannot solve it right away
- Fast travel to nearby points before hunting for underwater tunnels
- Check the Treasure Dealer shop in Great Inagua often for Map Fragments
- Save Smuggler’s Den chests for your first visit, since they are harder to reach later
- Bring extra ammo before diving into cave systems guarded by enemies
- Farm Wanted Level naval battles if you need Tattered Map pieces
- Sink any ships guarding a treasure site before attempting to dive or dig
