After Battlefield 2042 completely skipped the single-player experience, many fans wondered if EA would bring back campaigns for good. Well, Battlefield 6 delivers with a focused 9-mission campaign that, while short, packs plenty of intense moments and collectible hunting for completionists.
Whether you’re looking for a break from multiplayer chaos or want to warm up before jumping into ranked matches, here’s everything you need to know about BF6’s campaign.
Short Answer: 4-6 hours for most players.
The campaign length depends on several factors:
• Casual playthrough: 4-5 hours on Normal difficulty
• Completionist run: 6-8 hours (collecting all Dog Tags)
• Higher difficulties: Add 1-2 extra hours due to tougher combat
Honestly, it’s on the shorter side compared to other AAA shooters, but the pacing feels tight. There’s no filler content or drawn-out sequences — just pure Battlefield action from start to finish.
Dog Tag Collectibles: Each mission hides 2-4 Dog Tags that unlock weapon skins and other cosmetics. These little metal tags are tucked into corners, behind cover, or in hard-to-reach spots with zero visual indicators. Expect to spend extra time scanning every room if you’re going for 100% completion.
Difficulty Settings: Higher difficulties don’t just boost enemy health — they change AI behavior significantly. Enemies become more aggressive, use better tactics, and force you to play more cautiously. What might take 30 minutes on Easy could stretch to 45+ minutes on Hard.

The campaign follows BF’s recent tradition of multiple characters and storylines across different theaters of war. Each mission averages 30-45 minutes, though some epic set pieces can run longer.
Mission 1: Always Faithful
The opening mission sets the tone with classic Battlefield combined-arms warfare. You’ll get familiar with the controls and basic mechanics while experiencing some impressive destruction sequences.
Mission 2: The Rock
A more tactical, close-quarters mission that focuses on infantry combat. Great for practicing the movement system you’ll use in multiplayer.
Mission 3: Operation Gladius
This mission introduces vehicle combat more heavily. Perfect preparation for understanding tank mechanics before jumping into vehicle-heavy game modes.
Mission 4: Night Raid
As the name suggests, this is a stealth-focused nighttime operation. The lighting effects are genuinely impressive, and it teaches patience — something valuable for Recon class gameplay.
Mission 5: No Sleep
A high-intensity mission that barely gives you breathing room. Excellent for practicing quick target acquisition and combat rolls under pressure.
Mission 6: Moving Mountains
Features some of the campaign’s best destruction sequences and large-scale battles. You’ll see why Battlefield’s engine still impresses after all these years.
Mission 7: Nile Guard
Set in a desert environment, this mission emphasizes long-range combat and positioning — perfect practice for sniping in multiplayer.
Mission 8: Operation Emberstrike
The penultimate mission ramps up the action with multiple objectives and tough enemy encounters. This is where higher difficulties really show their teeth.
Mission 9: Always Forward
The finale brings together all the mechanics you’ve learned. Expect epic moments, emotional beats, and a satisfying conclusion to the storylines.
• Search thoroughly: Unlike other games, there are no audio cues or glints to help you
• Check elevated positions: Many tags are placed on rooftops, upper floors, or behind climbable objects
• Explore before advancing: The linear design means you can’t backtrack once you hit certain checkpoints
• Use your binoculars: Sometimes zooming in helps spot tags in dark corners
Normal Difficulty: Perfect for story enjoyment and learning mechanics
Hard/Expert: Only attempt after getting comfortable with core combat tips and settings
The campaign serves as excellent training for online play:
• Practice different class roles and weapons
• Learn destruction mechanics and environmental awareness
• Get comfortable with vehicle handling
• Master the Field Spec system in a low-pressure environment
While short, Battlefield 6’s campaign delivers solid entertainment and serves as great preparation for multiplayer. The production values are high, the action stays engaging, and completionists will enjoy hunting down every Dog Tag.
Play the campaign if you:
• Want to learn BF6 mechanics in a structured way
• Enjoy military action storylines
• Like collecting cosmetic unlocks
• Need a break from competitive multiplayer
Skip if you:
• Only care about online multiplayer
• Expect 15+ hour story campaigns
• Prefer open-world exploration over linear missions
