The Blood of Dawnwalker: Silver Selling Guide

Silver Selling Guide in The Blood of Dawnwalker
    • TL;DR
    • Silver is contraband in Vale Sangora — regular merchants will not buy it.
    • The only buyer is the Silver Trader, located in Altenmarkt district, Svartrau City.
    • He will not deal with you on your first visit — you need to join the Manumits first.
    • Joining requires raising your Infamy to Notorious by disrupting Brencis’ Court.
    • The Into the Den prologue quest also leads you to a tip pointing straight to this trader.
    • The Silver Trader also sells legendary weapons, amulets, and rings — worth checking his stock.
    • Level up Bewitching Influence (Witchcraft tree) to boost all sell prices by +15%.

The Blood of Dawnwalker silver selling guide covers exactly what most players hit a wall on early — you pick up silver items everywhere, then discover that no regular vendor will touch them. Silver is banned in Vale Sangora because it is dangerous to the Vrakhiri vampire lords who rule the region. Selling it is illegal, which means you need to find someone willing to break the law alongside you. If you are new to the game and still finding your footing, our release date, platforms, and editions guide is a good starting point before diving into economy mechanics.

Silver items are some of the most valuable loot in the game. Bowls, crosses, chalices, jewelry, dining utensils, and raw silver ore all fall into this category. They stack up fast, especially if you explore thoroughly. The payoff for selling them is solid Denarii — the game’s main currency — which you need for weapon upgrades, armor, consumables, and merchant stock. Getting access to the silver market early makes a real difference to how well-funded your early and mid-game run is.

Why You Cannot Sell Silver to Normal Merchants

Silver is treated as contraband in The Blood of Dawnwalker. The Vrakhiri — the vampire lords controlling the region — have banned its trade because silver is one of the few materials that can genuinely hurt them. Anyone caught dealing in it faces execution. Regular merchants across the map know this and will not take it off your hands, no matter how much you try.

This means all the silver items filling your inventory sit useless until you find the right contact. That contact is the Silver Trader, and getting to him requires a bit of groundwork first.

Where to Find the Silver Trader

The Silver Trader is located in Svartrau City, which sits in the middle of the world map. More specifically, he is tucked away in Altenmarkt, one of the districts inside the city walls to the west of the Cathedral Complex.

From the southwestern part of the fortified settlement, follow the path toward Neustadt. Just past a pair of guards, look for a building. Head through the door and you will find the vendor inside. He shows up on the in-game map with his own marker once you are in the area, so he is not particularly hidden once you know which district to look in.

The tricky part is not finding him — it is getting him to actually talk to you.

Why the Silver Trader Will Not Deal With You at First

The first time you walk in and ask what kind of merchant he is, he plays dumb. He tells you that if you do not already know, you are not the right customer. Coen walks off. The trader is not lying — he genuinely will not admit to buying silver from a stranger who has not proven they run in the right circles.

This is not a bug or a missed dialogue option. It is a progression gate tied to the game’s faction system. You need to earn his trust through a specific path before he opens up.

How to Unlock the Silver Trader

Step 1: Raise Your Infamy to Notorious

Unlocking the Silver Trader is tied to joining the Manumits, a resistance faction working against Brencis and the vampire court. To get an invitation from them, you first need to raise your Infamy level to Notorious or higher.

Infamy goes up as you cause trouble for the vampire court across Vale Sangora. The main ways to build it include:

    • Clearing enemy camps controlled by the court
    • Destroying blood barrels scattered around the region
    • Raiding blood cellars
    • Generally disrupting Brencis’ operations wherever you find them

This is not a passive process — you need to actively go out and cause damage to the court’s presence in the world. The more you do, the faster your Infamy climbs. Keep an eye on the Infamy tracker until you hit Notorious.

Step 2: Join the Manumits via Where Loyalty Lies

The Where Loyalty Lies quest is one of the first you pick up during the opening hours when Sara takes you to meet Crake, the Manumits’ leader, at their rendezvous point. Crake will not let you join outright — he needs proof you can handle yourself first. That is where the Notorious Infamy requirement comes in.

Once your Infamy reaches Notorious, you receive an invitation to meet with the crew and officially join the Manumits. That is the unlock. Head back to the Silver Trader after joining, and on your next visit he will drop the act entirely. From that point forward, you can sell illegal silver to him freely whenever you like.

The Into the Den Quest Shortcut

There is also a separate path worth knowing about. The Into the Den quest — completable during the prologue or after — involves tracking down a hideout. Completing it lets you loot a hole in the area to find a Letter With a Tip. This letter leads you directly to the Silver Trader’s location in Svartrau City, giving you his location before you would otherwise stumble across it naturally.

PC Gamer’s guide also notes that completing Into the Den before leaving Laslea Glen is worth doing, since the bear fight is short and the intel is genuinely useful for pointing you south toward the trader early. You still need to unlock him through the Manumits to actually sell, but knowing where he is saves time. For the full walkthrough of that early quest chain, our Live Bait quest walkthrough covers the prologue area in detail.

    What the Silver Trader Sells

The Silver Trader is not just a buyer — he also has his own inventory worth checking every time you visit. On top of buying your illegal silver, his stock includes:

    • Weapons
    • Armour
    • Accessories
    • Consumables

In GameSpot’s playthrough, the trader had three legendary items available for purchase:

    • Legendary weapon: The Kingslayer
    • Legendary amulet: Fear of the Wilds
    • Legendary ring: Slicer’s Ring

Stock may vary depending on where you are in the story, but the fact that he carries legendary gear makes him one of the more valuable merchants in the game — not just a one-way sell point. Make a habit of checking his inventory each time you visit, especially after major story milestones.

How to Get More Denarii From Silver Sales

    Level Up Bewitching Influence

There is a Witchcraft tree perk called Bewitching Influence that increases all selling prices. At level 2, it gives you a +15% boost to everything you sell, including silver items. This applies across all merchants, not just the Silver Trader, so it is a broadly useful investment if you plan to sell gear and loot regularly throughout the game.

Since Witchcraft perks are only active during the day, make sure you visit the Silver Trader in human form during daylight hours to benefit from the price boost. The difference adds up fast over the course of the game, especially since silver items already sell for a lot compared to standard loot. If you want to plan out your Witchcraft investments alongside this perk, check our guide on the best skills to level up in The Blood of Dawnwalker for a full breakdown of where Bewitching Influence sits in the tree.

    Collect Silver Consistently While Exploring

Silver items appear in several ways across Vale Sangora:

    • Inside locked or unlocked chests during exploration
    • On shelves and tables in homes and buildings — take them when no one is watching
    • As quest rewards in some cases
    • Raw silver ore found in certain locations

Examples include silver bowls, crosses, chalices, jewelry, and dining utensils. None of these are weapons or usable gear — they are purely trade items. Pick everything up. Your inventory can hold plenty, and the value per item is high enough that clearing a room of silver pieces makes a meaningful difference to your coin purse.

Silver Is Most Valuable in Early and Mid-Game

Screen Rant’s guides team noted that silver is particularly valuable during the early and mid sections of the game. By the late game, you tend to accumulate enough gold items, spare gear, and general loot that the extra trip to the Silver Trader becomes less necessary. But in the first half of the game — when Denarii is tight and you are trying to buy Manuals, upgrade weapons, and restock consumables — selling silver regularly keeps your finances healthy.

Do not sit on silver items waiting for a better time. The sooner you unlock the trader and start converting that stash into Denarii, the more flexibility you have in how you build and equip Coen. Speaking of equipping Coen properly — understanding how to get ability slots in The Blood of Dawnwalker is just as important as having the money to buy the perks and Manuals that go with them.

    Tips for Selling Silver Efficiently

Unlock the Silver Trader as Early as Possible

Do not wait until late in the game to complete Where Loyalty Lies and join the Manumits. The sooner your Infamy hits Notorious and you join the faction, the sooner you can offload the silver pile that has been building up. Make disrupting Brencis’ Court a priority during your early exploration — it builds Infamy, earns you experience, and opens up the silver market all at once. Our Under Watchful Eyes quest walkthrough shows how early disruption quests connect to the broader Infamy system.

    Batch Your Silver Runs

Since the Silver Trader is in Svartrau City — a specific location that requires travel — it is more efficient to save up silver items and make a single trip rather than running to him after every find. Once you have unlocked fast travel via the shrine network, the trip becomes much quicker. But in the early game before fast travel is set up, plan your visits to coincide with other reasons to be in the city.

    Check His Stock Every Visit

Even if you do not have silver to sell on a given visit, check the Silver Trader’s inventory anyway. Legendary items cycle through merchant stock as the game progresses, and missing a good weapon or ring because you did not check can cost you. He is one of the few vendors in the game who carries items at that tier, so treat him as a priority stop whenever you are in Svartrau City.

Do Not Sell Silver Before You Have Access

This sounds obvious, but it is worth saying — do not try to sell silver to other merchants hoping one of them will take it. They will not. Just hold on to it until you unlock the Silver Trader. The items do not expire, degrade, or take up so much space that they become a problem. Let them sit in your inventory until you have the right contact.

    Is Silver Worth Farming?

In short — yes, but passively. You do not need to go out of your way to hunt silver specifically. Just pick it up whenever you see it during normal exploration and quest completion. Silver items appear regularly enough that you will naturally accumulate a decent stash without any dedicated farming.

If you want to maximize Denarii income beyond silver, the most reliable approach is to combine silver selling with selling unwanted weapons and armor — especially pieces you find in camps and chests that do not fit your build. Gold items, spare gear, and regular junk all sell at standard merchants without restriction. Silver just gives you an extra income stream on top of that, and a high-value one when you have a good haul built up.
