TL;DR
- The August 2026 patch (Season 86) is one of the biggest in Clash Royale history — 38 cards changed at once.
- All four Spirits are nerfed and can no longer reach Crown Towers on their own.
- Every Hero and Champion ability is now single-use per deployment (except Boss Bandit).
- Mega Knight Evolution and Valkyrie Evolution took major hits and dropped in the tier list.
- Void jumped from 3 to 5 elixir but has roughly double the damage — a full rework into a new spell role.
- Top cards right now: Skeletons, Fireball, The Log, Knight, Barbarian Barrel, and Cannon.
- Best decks: Evo Royal Giant Fisherman (~56% win rate) and PEKKA Bridge Spam (61%+ at top-1000).
August 2026 Clash Royale Tier List – What Changed This Season
The Clash Royale card tier list for August 2026 is built around the biggest balance patch in recent memory. Season 86, called K.H.A.O.S, launched on August 3, 2026, and it changed 38 cards in a single update. This is not a minor meta shift. Every deck in the game is affected by at least one of the major changes below.
Here are the three headline changes that define the August 2026 meta:
Spirit Nerf: All four Spirits — Electro Spirit, Ice Spirit, Fire Spirit, and Heal Spirit — had their HP lowered from 230 to 217. They can no longer reach a Crown Tower on their own. Spirits had a combined 53% usage rate in the Top 200 this year. Supercell’s reasoning was simple: a 1-elixir card should not replace real spells and support cards while chipping towers and enabling constant low-risk pressure at the same time. If your deck ran Spirits for tower chip, that plan no longer works. They are still good cycle and reset tools — but they no longer do chip damage on their own.
Hero and Champion Abilities Go Single-Use: Every Hero and Champion ability (except Boss Bandit) is now single-use per deployment. You activate it once. That’s it. Re-deploying the same card gives you one fresh use. Any deck that relied on activating an ability twice on the same deployment — like Goblinstein loops or Mighty Miner mine-swaps — has lost that mechanic entirely.
Mega Knight Evolution and Valkyrie Evolution Nerfed: Mega Knight Evolution now uppercuts only every other attack instead of every attack. Valkyrie Evolution’s tornado damage was halved from 84 to 42. Both Evolutions dropped in tier value as a result. Wall Breakers also took a 20% damage cut.
Beyond those headline changes, Goblin Drill lost its guaranteed tower spawn damage, Bowler and Executioner had their projectile range cut by 7%, and Void was completely reworked from a 3-elixir spell into a 5-elixir spell with roughly double the damage — now designed to counter high-health ranged units like Bowler, Executioner, and Hunter.

Clash Royale Card Tier List August 2026 – S+ Tier
S+ tier cards are the backbone of the August 2026 meta. These are the most-used cards among top 250 players, fit into the widest range of decks, and win consistently regardless of the matchup. Every top deck in the game right now runs at least two or three of these.
- Skeletons – The most versatile 1-elixir card in the game. Defense, cycling, distraction, DPS — all in one cheap card. Unaffected by the August patch. Still the most-used card in the game among top players.
- The Log – 27% usage rate across all of 2026. The benchmark for what a spell should be. Handles ground swarms, knocks back troops, and chips the tower. Fits every deck. Unchanged in August.
- Fireball – Universal mid-cost spell. Handles medium-health troops and buildings. Every deck needs a medium spell and Fireball is the safest pick. Unchanged in August.
- Barbarian Barrel – Ground swarm clear with tower chip and a Barbarian attached. High usage at every trophy level. Unchanged in August, making it one of the cleaner carries in a reshuffled meta.
- Knight – Cheap, tanky, fits anywhere. Reliable in cycle decks, beatdown, bridge spam, and everything in between. Still S+ after decades of meta play. Unchanged in August.
- Cannon – The best defensive building in the game by usage. 3 elixir for strong DPS and solid HP. Handles tanks, building chasers, and Hog Rider efficiently. Unchanged in August.
- Arrows – 26% usage rate, one of the two most-played cards in Clash Royale. Handles swarms from air and ground in one cheap spell. Unchanged in August and remains essential in most decks.
Clash Royale Card Tier List August 2026 – S Tier
S tier cards are top-tier picks with strong win rates and high deck versatility. They may not appear in quite as many builds as S+ cards, but they are elite choices in the right hands.
- Hog Rider – Still one of the best win conditions in the game. The backbone of Hog 2.6, which has been meta since 2017 and remains one of the best decks in August 2026. Fast, consistent tower damage and works with any cycle shell. See our Clash Royale Hog Rider deck guide for builds.
- Balloon – Best flying win condition. Hard to defend, huge damage on the tower, and deals death damage even when killed. Posted the highest win rate of any common deck archetype at certain trophy ranges in 2026. See our Clash Royale LavaLoon deck for the top Balloon build.
- Miner – Extremely versatile win condition. Chips tower damage, tanks for support troops, activates King Tower, and can defend in emergencies. Unchanged in August and still one of the most flexible cards in the game. Our Clash Royale Miner Poison deck guide covers the best build.
- Tornado – One of the most skill-expressive spells in the game. Pulls troops together for splash damage, activates King Tower defensively, and saves towers from big pushes. Not affected by the August patch.
- Goblin Barrel – Performing well across 2026 despite small spells being common. Forces opponents to have the right answer in hand every time. The August patch buffed base Goblins by 4% damage, which gives Goblin Barrel a small boost. See our Clash Royale log bait deck guide for the best bait shell.
- Royal Giant – The core of the highest win rate deck on general ladder in August 2026 (Evo Royal Giant Fisherman at ~56% win rate). Tanks from range and is a nightmare to stop cleanly. See our Clash Royale Royal Giant deck for the full build.
- Tesla – Strong defensive building that handles air and ground threats. Used alongside Cannon in certain builds for double building coverage. Unchanged in August.
- Ice Spirit – Despite the Spirit nerf, Ice Spirit is still a fantastic reset tool and cycle card. It just no longer chips towers on its own. In decks like Hog 2.6 where it was used for freeze value and cycling, the card is still worth running — the chip damage plan is just gone. Many players are testing Zap as an alternative in that specific slot.
- Electro Spirit – Same situation as Ice Spirit. Still a good stun and reset card for cycling and defense. No longer reaches the Crown Tower solo. Decks that relied on it purely for chip damage should swap that role to Zap or Bats.
Clash Royale Card Tier List August 2026 – A Tier
A tier cards are very strong and appear frequently in top builds. They may be more situational than S tier, or they fit fewer deck archetypes. But in the right build, these are excellent picks that reward the player well.
- Golem – Still the king of beatdown in August 2026. Big investment but enormous late-game payoff. The Hero and Champion ability rework affects some Golem deck support cards, but the core strategy remains strong. See our Clash Royale Golem deck guide.
- Royal Hogs – Consistent A-tier win condition. Split-lane pressure, fast movement, and pairs perfectly with Earthquake to destroy defensive buildings. Unaffected by the August patch. One of the cleanest picks in the current meta. See our Clash Royale Royal Hogs deck guide for builds.
- Earthquake – Key support spell for building-targeting win conditions. Destroys defensive structures and damages grouped troops. Pairs with Hog Rider and Royal Hogs in the best cycle builds. Unchanged in August.
- Inferno Dragon – Single-target damage that melts tanks. Excellent hard counter to Golem, Giant, and Royal Giant. Unchanged in August and stays reliable in control and reactive builds.
- Fisherman – Crowd control that pulls and slows enemies. Core card in the highest win rate general ladder deck (Evo Royal Giant Fisherman). Strong support tool that doesn’t get enough credit for how many pushes it stops.
- Goblin Drill – Tunnels directly to the tower and bypasses most defenses. Took a hit in August — lost its guaranteed tower spawn damage — which is a meaningful reduction in ceiling damage potential. Still A-tier in the right control shell but weaker than before. See our Clash Royale Goblin Drill deck guide.
- Mighty Miner – Got a meaningful buff in August. Attack damage increased by 6%, enabling it to 2-shot Skeletons. A useful Champion that is now stronger at handling cheap defensive units. Worth upgrading for control-oriented decks.
- Graveyard – Still playable after the June 2026 nerf reduced skeleton count and spell damage to towers. Fixed spawn patterns make it more predictable and reliable. Slower at closing games but still a legitimate win condition. See our Clash Royale Graveyard deck guide.
- Ram Rider – Returned to relevance after a health buff in July 2026. The enhanced hit speed when locked onto a tower makes Ram Rider a dangerous finisher. Rising pick after two straight buffs.
- Firecracker – Knockback and splash damage make Firecracker a solid defensive and bridge pressure tool. Unchanged in August. Used in Hog Rider builds and bait decks.
- Musketeer – Ranged single-target damage that handles air and ground. Core in Hog 2.6. Low elixir cost for the range and DPS it provides. Unchanged in August.
- Baby Dragon – Solid splash unit with decent health. Fits beatdown and control decks. Consistent value and reliable in multiple archetypes.
- Goblin Giant – Strong beatdown win condition and one of the top picks in beatdown shells across 2026.
- Ice Golem – Cheap mini-tank that cycles fast, kites troops, and slows enemies on death. Used in Hog Rider and Miner decks as a frontline unit. Unchanged in August.
- Lava Hound – High HP air unit that tanks for Balloon. Used in LavaLoon builds where the Lava Hound absorbs all ground-based damage while Balloon reaches the tower. Unchanged in August.
- Dark Prince – Charge mechanic and area damage in one card. Used in bridge spam and beatdown builds alongside Giant or PEKKA. Reliable mid-cost troop.
- Little Prince – Got a meaningful buff in August. Hit speed conservation increased, meaning his enhanced attack speed is now more reliable during movement. Becomes a stronger win condition in skilled hands.
Clash Royale Card Tier List August 2026 – B Tier
B tier cards have a clear place in specific decks and are worth upgrading if they fit your playstyle. They are not as universally applicable as S and A tier picks, but in the right build they contribute real value.
- Archer Queen – Champion of cycle decks. Stealth ability makes her very hard to deal with on defense. The August patch made Champion abilities single-use, which slightly simplifies how Archer Queen plays but does not fundamentally break her. She is still one of the best defensive cards in the game in Hog Rider and Royal Hogs builds.
- Mega Knight – Dropped from higher tiers after the Evo nerf. The base Mega Knight is still a high HP splash unit, but the Evolution that drove most of his top-ladder presence took a serious hit. Spawn damage and jump damage remain strong. Good in the right beatdown or bridge spam shell but no longer as dominant.
- Valkyrie – Dropped due to the Evolution nerf. The base Valkyrie is still a solid swarm counter with her spin attack, but Evo Valkyrie lost half its tornado damage. Still useful, just weaker than before in decks that relied on the Evo version.
- Battle Ram – Fast building chaser with decent HP. Core in PEKKA Bridge Spam. The Barbarians released on impact add offensive follow-up. Unchanged in August.
- Poison – Still handles Graveyard and area denial well. Lost some tower chip value after the June 2026 spell nerf but remains a useful support spell in specific builds. Unchanged in August.
- Royal Delivery – Efficient 3-elixir defensive spell with a Royal Recruit attached. Excellent against Hog Rider and other building-chasing win conditions. Unchanged in August.
- Hunter – Shotgun spread delivers high DPS at close range against grouped troops. Core in the Evo Royal Giant Fisherman deck. Underrated and underused. Void is being reworked to specifically counter high-health ranged units like Hunter, so watch this space — if Void becomes a common pick, Hunter may see pressure.
- Bandit – Fast bridge spam troop with a dash attack. Core in PEKKA Bridge Spam. Punishes opponents who overspend on defense. Unchanged in August.
- Mega Minion – Compact air unit with solid single-target damage. Reliable support in Golem and LavaLoon builds. Unchanged in August.
- X-Bow – Got a meaningful bug fix buff in August — no longer clips Crown Towers from behind the bridge unexpectedly. Stronger in its own niche siege archetype after this fix. Rising pick for X-Bow enthusiasts. Our Clash Royale best cycle decks guide has more on fast-cycle and siege builds.
- Goblin Cage – Forces opponents to deal with a Goblin Brawler after destroying it. The August patch actually buffed Goblin Cage — it now deals more DPS to trapped enemies and traps new enemies faster after one exits. Small but meaningful improvement.
- Bomb Tower – The hardest counter to swarm and Royal Hogs strategies. Splash damage in a building is rare and valuable. Unchanged in August.
- Mortar – Unique in August: the base Mortar got a hit speed buff (5s to 4.7s) while Mortar Evolution had its hit speed slowed (4s to 4.7s). A power reallocation toward the base card. Still a niche siege win condition but base Mortar is meaningfully stronger now.
- Goblins – Straight damage buff in August (120 to 125, roughly 4%). Applies to all Goblin-spawning cards including Goblin Barrel, Goblin Drill, and Mortar Evolution. Classic bait decks just got a small boost across the board.
- Spear Goblins – Hit speed increased in August (1.7s to 1.6s). Faster attacks is a real upgrade for a cheap ranged troop used in bait and cycle decks.
- Magic Archer – Received a range cut (-7%) in August alongside Executioner and Bowler. Was already nerfed in July. Still usable as a Hero variant, but the base card is weaker than earlier in 2026.
Clash Royale Card Tier List August 2026 – C Tier
C tier cards are average in the August 2026 meta. They can work in the right hands but often get outperformed by better options. Some shine in niche builds or specific trophy ranges but are not first picks at top ladder.
- P.E.K.K.A – 7 elixir is slow and expensive, but P.E.K.K.A Bridge Spam posts a 61%+ win rate at top-1000 players. Outside of that specific deck, PEKKA is too costly to run reliably. If you play bridge spam, PEKKA is A-tier. For everyone else, it is C-tier.
- Bowler – Dropped from A-tier after the August range cut (-7%, from 7.5 to 7 tiles). Bowler’s value always came from its ability to out-range certain units safely. Losing 0.5 tiles of range flips some specific matchups against it. Still solid on defense but weaker than before.
- Executioner – Same range cut as Bowler in August (-7%). Was already nerfed in July 2026. Two nerfs in two months pushed Executioner from consistent A-tier to average. Still useful for swarm clear but no longer as dominant a defensive anchor.
- Princess – Long-range air troop used in log bait decks. Valuable in that shell but not versatile enough for many builds. Unchanged in August.
- Electro Wizard – Stun on hit is unique and resets Sparky and Inferno Dragon. 4 elixir feels expensive for what he brings in 2026. Unchanged in August.
- Ice Wizard – Slowing effect is valuable but feels replaceable in most builds. Works in Graveyard and control decks. Unchanged in August.
- Tombstone – Got a big buff through Hero Tombstone in August, but base Tombstone is still just a decent distraction building. Unchanged. Viable in control builds but not a top pick.
- Night Witch – Bat spawns and decent DPS. Solid Golem support but not versatile outside beatdown decks. Unchanged in August.
- Phoenix – Revives on death, which creates awkward situations for opponents. Inconsistent results across 2026. Unchanged in August.
- Furnace – Got a meaningful buff in August. Spawn speed increased by 29% (7s to 5s). Furnace now churns out Fire Spirits considerably faster, making it a more active threat. Worth watching — this could push Furnace back into viability.
- Barbarians – HP increased by 4% in August (691 to 716). The Evo Barbarian lost its HP bonus but gained longer Rage Duration (3s to 5s). A reallocation of power between base and Evo forms. Base Barbarians are slightly tankier now.
- Heal Spirit – Took the Spirit nerf. Can no longer reach Crown Towers on its own. The self-heal and splash value are still there, but the chip damage plan is gone. Further reduced in effectiveness compared to earlier in 2026.
- Sparky – Massive burst but very easy to counter with The Log or any troop reset. High risk and hard to consistently use at top ladder. Unchanged in August.
- Elite Barbarians – Brute force ground push that is either effective or useless depending on the matchup. Too inconsistent for top ladder. Unchanged in August.
- Void – Completely reworked in August. Cost went from 3 to 5 elixir, but damage roughly doubled and hit frequency increased. Raw damage per elixir is actually better than before. The new Void is designed as a 5-elixir answer to tanky ranged units like Bowler, Executioner, and Hunter — cards that previously needed 6 elixir of spells to remove. Early signs suggest this fills a niche that did not previously exist. C-tier for now as players learn the card, but could rise.
- Giant Snowball – Received an Evo nerf in August (range cut to reduce consistency). Base Giant Snowball is unchanged. Cheap crowd control with decent utility but falls short of better spell options.
Clash Royale Card Tier List August 2026 – D Tier
D tier cards are weak in the current August 2026 meta. They have poor matchup spreads, are too expensive for what they offer, have been heavily nerfed, or simply have not kept pace with the game’s power level.
- Wall Breakers – Took a 20% damage cut in August (350 to 281). Were already borderline before this patch. The burst damage potential that made Wall Breakers threatening against towers is now significantly reduced. Dropped from C-tier to D-tier as a result.
- Mega Knight Evolution – Was a dominant A-tier Evo before August. The upper cut now fires every other attack instead of every attack. That was the core of the Evo’s defensive power. Halving its frequency turns Mega Knight Evolution from a wall into a strong but normal heavy troop. Significant drop.
- Valkyrie Evolution – Tornado damage halved (84 to 42). The Evo’s unique value was in the tornado effect pulling troops together for area damage. With damage halved, the defensive value dropped considerably.
- Lumberjack – Dropped over multiple patches in 2026. No longer the dominant card it once was. Not relevant in August meta decks.
- Mirror – The worst performer in the entire card ranking by win rate in recent data. Dropped further after July changes. If you are running Mirror for value, the data says it is not working.
- Elixir Golem – Gives your opponent elixir when it splits. Too risky without very specific deck support to prevent handing your opponent the game.
- Electro Giant – Interesting mechanic but too slow and too countered by air-heavy decks to see reliable use.
- Three Musketeers – 9 elixir is almost always too much. Hard to justify in a meta built around efficient cycle and unit-based win conditions.
- Rage – Speed and damage boost sounds useful but you are spending elixir on a spell that does not deal damage or kill troops. Very hard to justify.
- Giant Skeleton – Too slow and the death bomb is easy to avoid. Rarely worth 6 elixir.
- Skeleton Army – Wiped by any cheap spell. Situationally useful but too easy to counter cleanly to run in competitive ladder builds.
- Rune Giant – Very weak HP for its cost. Abilities rarely have meaningful impact in real matches. One of the weakest cards in the game.
- Barbarian Hut – 6 elixir with slow spawn speed. Outclassed by almost every other building and troop generator. Still the weakest building in the game. Note: Supercell acknowledged Barbarian Hut in the August patch blog but said it did not make this batch — it is however high on their list for future buffs.
- Ronin – Debuted in July 2026 at A-tier hype but win rates fell to 45% as players tried and struggled with the card. Too early to judge long-term but currently sitting in D-tier by performance data. Worth revisiting as the sample matures.
August 2026 Hero Tier List
Heroes occupy their own deck slot. Since the March 2026 update you get one Hero slot and one Wild slot that can also hold a Hero. The big change in August is that all Hero abilities are now single-use per deployment — you activate the ability once, that’s it for that deployment. Here is how they rank after the patch.
S Tier Heroes
- Hero Barbarian Barrel – Top performing Hero in data. 53% win rate with rising usage. Leads every Hero on both win rate and popularity simultaneously — the clearest S-tier Hero in the game right now.
- Hero Goblins – Still dominant after minor adjustments in August. The deploy time returned from 1.3s to 1.0s (undoing last season’s nerf), while losing one Goblin from the ability. Net result is a mostly unchanged card that is still one of the strongest Hero options. 52% win rate across 2026.
- Hero Knight – Most-used Hero card on ladder at around 15% usage. Reliable tank that works in almost every deck type — X-Bow, Mortar, Goblin Drill, Miner, Balloon, Graveyard. The single-use ability change simplifies its play pattern but does not reduce the card’s core strength.
A Tier Heroes
- Hero Ice Golem – Cheapest Hero at 2 elixir. Enables fast cycling and applies area slow with Frost Blast. Purely a utility Hero — excellent in fast cycle builds. Rising in usage according to mid-2026 data.
- Hero Mega Minion – Dashes to the lowest HP enemy with area damage. Great at clearing support troops. The August patch buffed Hero Mega Minion — Tower Damage Reduction increased from 50% to 75% and is now permanent (previously only lasted 5 seconds). Meaningful upgrade that makes the card more reliable in offensive use.
- Hero Balloon – 52% win rate and quietly winning without a large player base chasing it. Strong sleeper pick in Balloon-adjacent strategies.
- Hero Bowler – Knockback and splash as a Hero form. Solid defensive value and rising on both win rate and usage in recent data.
- Hero Tombstone – Received the biggest straight buff in the August patch. Tomb Queen attack damage increased by 32% (320 to 422), sight range up 27% (5.5 to 7 tiles), and HP up 4% (4,044 to 4,224). Supercell openly said if Tomb Queen still misses the meta after this, a troop-targeting rework is next. Worth trying after these buffs.
B to D Tier Heroes
- Hero Magic Archer – Was strong before nerfs in July 2026 reduced the mannequin dodge mechanic. Still playable but less dominant. The single-use ability change in August further simplifies the card. B-tier now.
- Hero Mini P.E.K.K.A – Ability does not justify the deck slot. Avoid in competitive builds.
- Hero Musketeer – Same issue. The Hero ability does not add enough value over the base card to warrant the slot. Skip in most builds.
August 2026 Evolution Tier List
Evolutions activate after cycling through your deck once. You get one dedicated Evolution slot and one Wild slot that can hold either an Evo or a Hero. The August patch targeted several dominant Evolutions directly.
S Tier Evolutions
- Evo Skeletons – Can replicate up to 10 units. One Skeleton can threaten a tower against opponents without splash. Meta-defining in control decks and still unchanged by the August patch.
- Evo Royal Giant – Core of the highest win rate deck on ladder (~56% win rate in Evo Royal Giant Fisherman build). Must-have if you play Royal Giant. Unchanged in August.
- Evo Royal Ghost – Boosts Golem and Royal Giant decks significantly. Unchanged in August. One of the highest-impact support Evos in the game.
- Evo Knight – Charge mechanic added to an already S+ base card. Strong upgrade that keeps Knight at the top of the ladder. Unchanged in August.
- Evo Bomber – Extra splash and bounce effect makes this one of the best swarm-clearing Evos in the game. Unchanged in August.
A Tier Evolutions
- Evo Archers – Received a damage reduction nerf in August to lower overall strength. Still a solid ranged Evolution with good defensive value, but weaker than before the patch. Dropped from S-tier.
- Evo Royal Hogs – Flying ability on first deployment bypasses all ground defenses. Unchanged in August. The Evo remains solid in the Royal Hogs archetype. See our Clash Royale Royal Hogs deck guide for how to use it.
- Evo Barbarians – The August patch changed these significantly. The HP bonus was removed from the Evo form, but Rage Duration doubled (3s to 5s). Power was reallocated into a longer rage rather than a health advantage. Still a usable Evo but the playstyle changed.
- Princess Evolution – Buffed in August. Now slows every other attack instead of every third attack, though the slow duration was reduced slightly (7s to 5.5s). More frequent slowing is a real upgrade for defensive use.
- Evo Battle Ram – Used in the PEKKA Bridge Spam deck that posts 61%+ win rate at top-1000 play. The Evolution makes Battle Ram even faster and more threatening. Unchanged in August.
- Minion Horde Evolution – Hit Speed Slowdown reduced in August (50% to 33%), making Evo Minion Horde faster than before. A meaningful improvement for a card that had been limited by how heavily the Evo form’s attack speed was penalised.
B to D Tier Evolutions
- Mega Knight Evolution – Dropped heavily. Uppercut fires every other attack now instead of every attack. That halves the frequency of its most feared mechanic. Still a big card but no longer S-tier.
- Valkyrie Evolution – Tornado damage halved. Dropped significantly. Base Valkyrie is still usable. The Evo version is not worth the slot investment at its current power level.
- Giant Snowball Evolution – Range cut in August reduces consistency. Dropped in value. The base card remains unchanged and is the more reliable pick.
- Goblin Cage Evolution – Mixed change. The cycle time between trapping new enemies was nerfed but Cage deals more DPS to trapped enemies and traps them faster. A wash that leaves the Evo roughly the same tier overall — decent but not dominant.
- Goblin Barrel Evolution – Damage nerf in August. Reduced the extra push pressure that the Evo created. Still usable in log bait but the Evo is no longer the force multiplier it was. The base Goblin Barrel remains the more consistent choice.
Best Decks to Run in August 2026
Knowing which cards are strong is only half the picture. You need a proven deck to put them in. Here are the top archetypes in August 2026:
- Evo Royal Giant Fisherman – ~56% win rate on general ladder. The highest win rate deck in the game right now. Cards: Royal Giant (Evo), Fisherman, Royal Ghost (Evo), Hunter, Electro Spirit (or Zap post-nerf), Skeletons, Fireball, The Log.
- PEKKA Bridge Spam – 61%+ win rate at top-1000. Cards: PEKKA, Battle Ram (Evo), Bandit, Royal Ghost, Hero Magic Archer, Goblin Gang, Zap, Fireball.
- Hog 2.6 Cycle – The most popular deck on ladder. Cards: Hog Rider, Musketeer, Ice Golem, Cannon, Ice Spirit (or Zap), Skeletons (Evo), Fireball, The Log. Note: swap Ice Spirit for Zap if you want to avoid any cycle awkwardness from the Spirit nerf.
- Royal Hogs Earthquake – Consistent top-tier pick all of 2026. Cards: Royal Hogs, Earthquake, Archer Queen, Cannon, Royal Delivery, Skeletons, Fire Spirit (or Zap), The Log. See our full Clash Royale Royal Hogs deck guide.

How to Use This Tier List
A card’s tier only matters when it is in the right deck. Keep these points in mind:
- Deck synergy beats raw tier. A set of B-tier cards that work together perfectly will beat a random collection of S-tier cards every time. Build a proven meta deck first, then look at which cards in it are worth upgrading.
- Card level still matters more than card tier. A maxed C-tier card beats a half-leveled S-tier card most of the time on ladder.
- Spirit nerf changes your tower damage plan. If your deck ran Spirits for chip damage, you need a new plan. Zap, Bats, or a real spell in that slot are the cleanest swaps.
- Do not invest Evo shards in Mega Knight or Valkyrie Evo right now. Both took major nerfs in August. Hold your shards and see where they settle after a few weeks of play data.
- Focus upgrades on one deck. Build one meta deck, upgrade all eight cards to the cap, and learn the matchups before branching out. See our Clash Royale best starter decks guide if you are building your first competitive deck.

Final Thoughts on the August 2026 Card Tier List
The August 2026 Clash Royale card tier list is defined by one of the largest patches the game has ever seen. 38 cards changed in a single update. The Spirit nerf alone reshapes roughly a third of all competitive decks on ladder. Hero and Champion abilities going single-use changes how every Champion card is evaluated and played. And Mega Knight Evolution plus Valkyrie Evolution taking direct hits means two of the most-used Evos in the game are no longer the safe investments they were a month ago.
The cards that come out of this patch looking best are the ones that were not touched: Skeletons, The Log, Fireball, Knight, Barbarian Barrel, Cannon, and Arrows. Those are your S+ tier foundation and they have been for years. Build your deck around them, pick a strong win condition in S or A tier, and focus your upgrade gold on those eight cards first.
