Most Call of Duty games scatter intel across every mission. Modern Warfare 4 keeps things cleaner. The campaign hides its collectibles across three missions, not the whole story. Clear all of them and you walk away with four trophies: No Stone Unturned, Time to Crate, Noteworthy, and Never Forgotten.
This guide covers every single collectible in order, mission by mission, including all keypad codes, contraband locations, and tips to avoid missing anything.
Before diving in, check out our Modern Warfare 4 all choices and consequences guide so you know which decisions in Following Orders affect what you can collect. And for a full list of every trophy in the game, visit our COD Modern Warfare 4 campaign trophy and achievement list.
Modern Warfare 4 Collectibles Overview
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 contains 90 collectible locations: 64 notes and 26 Yellow Supply Crates. Here is what each collectible type unlocks:
| Collectible | Total | Required | Achievement |
|---|---|---|---|
| Notes (Following Orders) | 4 | All 4 | No Stone Unturned |
| Contraband (Following Orders) | 4 | All 4 | No Stone Unturned |
| Notes (Stranded + Escape) | 60 | Any 50 | Noteworthy |
| Yellow Supply Crates (Stranded) | 26 | All 26 | Time to Crate |
| Safe (Escape) | 1 | 1 | Never Forgotten |
Important: You only need 50 notes for Noteworthy. While you can collect any 50 notes, you need the four notes from Mission 3 – Following Orders specifically for No Stone Unturned.
All Following Orders Collectibles (Mission 3)
Following Orders is the third campaign mission in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, set in a North Korean village where you play a soldier searching homes for contraband and a hidden defector. There are four notes and four contraband pieces across the mission.
Key tip: Grab all four contraband items and two notes in the first house before you question the husband. The last two notes are in the third house. The second house has nothing to collect.
For the full breakdown of how choices interact with collectibles in this mission, read our No Stone Unturned achievement guide and our No Harm Done achievement guide.
Following Orders — First House (Notes 1–2 and All 4 Contraband)
Everything you need from the first house is listed below. Search all rooms before speaking to the husband, or you will miss the dialogue options that unlock No Harm Done.
| Item | Type | Location | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Baekseolgi-Tteok Recipe | Note 1 | Kitchen cabinet on the left as you enter | Sitting in plain sight |
| MP3 Player | Contraband | Bathroom cabinet | Plays state-sanctioned music only |
| Western Novel | Contraband | Kitchen closet | Husband says it belonged to his son |
| Note From Your Friend | Note 2 | Lockbox in the right-side bedroom | Code: 214 (written on a note in the kitchen cupboard) |
| South Korean Medicine | Contraband | Toolbox (also opened with code 214) | This is the key item — reveals the defector’s location when you ask the husband about it |
The toolbox in Following Orders opens with code 214, which you can deduce from the recipe stored in the kitchen. Inside you will find the South Korean medicine contraband and Note 2.
Once you have at least two contraband items, the husband will talk. Question him about the South Korean medicine and he reveals the defector’s location. Work through all three contraband prompts to keep the peaceful route alive for No Harm Done.
The fourth contraband item is found separately — see the table above. Don’t talk to the husband until every cabinet is empty.
Following Orders — Third House (Notes 3–4)
The second house has nothing to collect. Follow Ko through it and move directly to the third house.
| Item | Type | Location | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Note From Your Neighbor | Note 3 | Second bedroom cabinet, behind the double sliding doors on the right | Easy to walk past if you go straight to the hatch |
| Note From Mom | Note 4 | Shelf inside the hidden cellar room, below the floor hatch | You must get the woman out first — leaving her hidden blocks access to this note |
Critical: Note 4 is inside the hidden room under the floor hatch. You cannot reach it if the woman is still hiding inside. Force her out with dialogue first (“Open the hatch, or else”), then drop down and grab the note. No Stone Unturned unlocks the moment you read Note From Mom, as long as all four contraband items were confiscated.
All the keypad codes used in the campaign are covered in our COD Modern Warfare 4 all code solutions guide.

All Stranded Collectibles (Mission 10)
When you leave base camp, select “I’ll find my own path…” to walk around alone. Also make sure to grab any supplies that you see while collecting the notes and crates. You need a total of 195 supplies to upgrade everything for the Scavenger achievement.
Stranded is a large open-world mission. There are 58 notes and 26 Yellow Supply Crates spread across the whole map. You only need 50 notes for Noteworthy, but all 26 crates are required for Time to Crate. Notes 58–62 are not found in the world — they unlock by upgrading gear at base camp.
For puzzle codes and Yellow Crate-specific help, see our dedicated guide on MW4 Stranded puzzle codes and Yellow Crate locations.

Stranded Notes 58–62 — Base Camp Upgrades

These five notes cannot be missed if you do the full upgrade run at base camp.

Escape has two notes and one safe. Simple to clean up as long as you know where to look.

Can You Replay Missions to Get Missed Collectibles?
Yes. Every completed mission stays accessible from the mission select menu. If you missed a note in Following Orders or skipped a Yellow Supply Crate in Stranded, you can go back at any time without affecting campaign progress.
The only thing to be careful about in Following Orders is the Note From Mom (Note 4). You cannot get it if you left the woman hidden in the cellar. If that happened, replay the mission, bring her out, then grab the note before the gallows scene.
