Funcom dives deep into Dune: Awakening’s endgame in a new livestream, revealing the Landsraad political system, unique combat Schools, and large-scale PvP on Arrakis.

Funcom is turning up the spice! The studio just dropped a big reveal for Dune: Awakening, giving fans their first real look at what the game’s mid-to-endgame will actually feel like—and it’s way more than just survival in the sands of Arrakis.

In a recent developer livestream, Funcom peeled back the curtain on the Landsraad, Dune: Awakening’s political endgame system that shakes up the usual MMO formula. Forget simple PvP skirmishes or territory grabs—this is about political power, alliances, and decisions that literally affect everyone on your server. If you’re aligned with one of the major Houses, you’ll get to vote on policies and argue your position in the Landsraad, shaping the rules of engagement across the entire world. It’s not just war—it’s diplomacy, betrayal, and maybe a little chaos.

For those more into combat than council seats, the devs also showcased a deeper dive into Dune: Awakening’s evolving combat system. We’re talking melee, ranged, vehicle-based fights, and character abilities rooted in four unique Schools of the Imperium. At the start, you’ll pick a School, unlocking your starting powers and a custom skill tree—but the real fun comes later. As you progress, you can mix and match abilities from other Schools, giving you near-limitless flexibility when building your combat style. Want to be a stealthy swordmaster with a hint of psychic power? Go for it.

This livestream was especially exciting because, up until now, most players had only seen the early survival and crafting content. The recent beta test, which pulled in close to 40,000 concurrent players, gave folks a taste of what life on Arrakis feels like—but this endgame content? Totally new.

In case you missed it, Dune: Awakening isn’t your typical Dune story, either. It’s set in an alternate timeline where Paul Atreides was never born. With no chosen one to unite the Houses, Arrakis is a full-blown warzone between House Atreides and House Harkonnen. Players can pledge allegiance to either faction and fight for control of spice—because of course, the spice must flow.

So whether you’re in it for survival, politics, combat theory-crafting, or just exploring the sands of one of sci-fi’s most iconic planets, Dune: Awakening looks like it’s shaping up to be something special. We still don’t have a firm release date, but after this endgame reveal, excitement is definitely heating up.
