Elden Ring Guide: How to Complete Ranni the Witch’s Questline
Ranni’s quest isn’t just a side mission—it’s practically a second storyline filled with deep lore, epic battles, and a secret ending! 😲💀 If you want to unlock the Age of the Stars ending ✨ and grab the Dark Moon Greatsword, this guide will walk you through every step of Ranni’s dark journey.

📍 Step 1: Meet Ranni the Witch at the Three Sisters
📌 Where? Liurnia of the Lakes – Ranni’s Rise
🔹 You first meet Ranni (calling herself Renna) at the Church of Elleh in Limgrave when she gives you the Spirit Calling Bell & Lone Wolf Ashes. 🐺💨
🔹 She disappears for a while, but you’ll find her again at the Three Sisters, a plateau behind Caria Manor in northern Liurnia.
🔹 To reach her, defeat Royal Knight Loretta 🏹 at Caria Manor and gain access to Ranni’s Rise.
🤝 Step 2: Join Ranni’s Service
🔹 Enter Ranni’s Rise and pledge your loyalty to her.
🔹 Meet her crew—three important NPCs:
- 🛡️ Blaidd (your trusty wolf warrior)
- 🔥 War Counselor Iji (blacksmith and advisor)
- 🧐 Preceptor Seluvis (shady dude… don’t trust him)
🔹 Talk to them one by one, then return to Ranni to continue the quest.
🔎 Step 3: Help Blaidd Find Nokron, Eternal City
📌 Where? Siofra River & Redmane Castle
🔹 Blaidd is searching for Nokron, the Eternal City, but he’s stuck 😞. Find him underground in Siofra River (head to Siofra River Bank Site of Grace).
🔹 After talking to Blaidd, speak to Seluvis, who tells you to ask War Counselor Iji.
🔹 Iji suggests you talk to a powerful sorcerer in Sellia, Town of Sorcery—that’s Sellen! 🧙♀️
🔹 Sellen tells you that to reach Nokron, you need to defeat General Radahn. 😱
⚔️ Step 4: Defeat General Radahn
📌 Where? Redmane Castle, Caelid
🛑 Radahn is no joke! This festival boss fight is one of the toughest in the game. 🏇🔥
🔹 Travel to Redmane Castle in Caelid and speak to Blaidd there.
🔹 Join the Radahn Festival, summon NPC warriors (including Blaidd!), and defeat Starscourge Radahn. 🌠
💥 After Radahn’s defeat, a cutscene will reveal a meteor crash site, unlocking Nokron, Eternal City! 🌑🚀
🏙️ Step 5: Explore Nokron, Eternal City
📌 Where? South of Mistwood, near the meteor crater
🔹 Enter Nokron through the crater near Fort Haight.
🔹 Find the Fingerslayer Blade 🔪 inside Night’s Sacred Ground—this item progresses Ranni’s story.
🔹 Ranni mysteriously disappears… but the quest isn’t over yet!
🔑 Step 6: The Discarded Palace Key & Ainsel River
📌 Where? Ainsel River Main
🔹 Travel to Renna’s Rise (unlocked after finding the Fingerslayer Blade).
🔹 Inside, you’ll find the Discarded Palace Key—use it to unlock the Grand Library of Raya Lucaria Chest and get the Dark Moon Ring.
🔹 Find Ainsel River Main and pick up Ranni’s doll. Speak to it at the Site of Grace until she responds.
🐍 Step 7: Survive Lake of Rot & Nokstella
📌 Where? Ainsel River – Lake of Rot
🔹 Battle through Nokstella, Eternal City and reach Lake of Rot.
🔹 Defeat Baleful Shadow, who drops the Discarded Key, unlocking Ranni’s real body.
🔹 Place Ranni’s Ring on her finger to complete the questline. 💍
⚔️ Step 8: Claim the Dark Moon Greatsword!
📌 Where? Cathedral of Manus Celes
🔹 After completing Ranni’s quest, you can visit the Cathedral of Manus Celes, where Ranni rests.
🔹 Here, you’ll find the legendary Dark Moon Greatsword. 🌙⚔️
🌟 Step 9: Unlock the Age of the Stars Ending
🛑 Final Choice: When you reach the final boss of Elden Ring, you can now trigger the Age of the Stars ending by summoning Ranni. This replaces the default ending and leads to a new era under Ranni’s rule. 👑💙
