Fairgame$ Delayed to 2026 as Sony Re-Evaluates Live-Service Strategy

If you’ve been looking forward to Fairgame$, the heist shooter from Jade Raymond’s studio, Haven, you might have to wait a little longer. According to Jeff Grubb from Giant Bomb, the game has been delayed to 2026.

Sony never announced a firm release date, it was just expected to launch in 2024 for PC and PlayStation 5.

However, on the Game Mess Decides podcast, Grubb shared that it’s now been pushed back and likely won’t make an appearance anytime soon.

“No Fairgame$ this year,” Grubb said. “As far as I’m aware, it’s been pushed to 2026.” He didn’t give a reason for the delay, but it’s clear that the game still needs time in development.

Sony’s Live-Service Plans Have Hit Roadblocks

Sony had big plans for live-service games. Going back to 2022, the company announced it wanted to launch over 10 of them, with former exec Jim Ryan saying they were a key part of PlayStation’s future.

But things haven’t exactly gone smoothly. Over the last couple of years, Sony has been quietly pulling back from live-service games, with multiple cancellations. Just last month, two unannounced projects—one from Days Gone developer Bend Studio and another from Bluepoint Games—were scrapped.

And they’re not alone. Some other Sony live-service projects that didn’t make it include:

Concord – A 5v5 sci-fi shooter that flopped so hard it was shut down just two weeks after launch.

London Studio’s co-op game – Canceled, and the studio was shut down in 2023.

The Last of Us multiplayer game – Naughty Dog was working on a multiplayer spin-off, but it was canceled before release.

Twisted Metal live-service game – Firespite was developing it, but it was scrapped.

Spider-Man: The Great Web – Insomniac had a co-op Spider-Man game, but that is also canceled.

What’s Next for Fairgame$?

It’s no secret that live-service games are risky, and Sony has had a rough time making them work. The delay of Fairgame$ could mean Haven needs more time to polish the game, or it might be part of a bigger shift in Sony’s strategy.

For now fans will have to wait until 2026 to see if Fairgame$ lives up to the hype—or if it ends up joining Sony’s growing list of canceled projects.
