Why Is a Fortnite Car Unlocked in Rocket League
Fortnite and Rocket League are both owned by Epic Games and run under the same Epic Games account system. Certain cosmetics are cross-game compatible between the two titles. When you unlock a cross-game item in Rocket League, it automatically appears in Fortnite without any extra steps.
The Hyundai IONIQ 6 collab is a three-way partnership between Epic Games, Hyundai Motor Company, and the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which is being hosted across the United States, Mexico, and Canada. Your goals scored in Online Matches also contribute to your chosen country’s tally on the global leaderboard. At the end of the event, every player receives a “World Cup Champion” Player Title — and players who backed the winning country get a gold variant of that title.

Not everything from the event crosses over. Here is exactly what transfers to Fortnite and what stays in Rocket League:

How to Get the Hyundai IONIQ 6 LA Mode Decal
After you unlock the car body, you can go after one more bonus cosmetic that transfers to Fortnite.
Drive 8,000 meters in Online Matches with the Hyundai IONIQ 6 N Line equipped to earn the Hyundai IONIQ 6 LA Mode Decal. This is a themed decal that works in both Rocket League and Fortnite.
Important: the 8,000-meter distance only tracks when the IONIQ 6 N Line is your active car body. Driving with any other car does not count. Equip it as your main car immediately after unlocking it and leave it equipped for all your remaining matches. The distance accumulates passively — you do not need to try for it specifically.
The fastest way to rack up meters: jump into a casual match, collect boost pads constantly, and keep moving at high speed. You do not need to score or win. Just drive. Eight thousand meters across several normal sessions will complete itself.
The Hardest Challenge: 500 Ball Contacts
Most challenges in this event clear themselves through normal play. The one that catches players off guard is the 500 Ball Contacts challenge.
In a standard 3v3 match, you share ball contact opportunities with two teammates. Getting 500 solo contacts takes longer than it sounds in that format. The fastest known method is 1v1 mode. In a 1v1, every contact goes to you or your opponent. Both players hitting the ball back and forth against the wall efficiently stacks contacts quickly. If you are in a party with a friend, communicate via Quick Chat and cooperate — no competitive play needed.
Alternatively, playing Heatseeker Duos is recommended by multiple sources as the best general mode for completing this event fast. The mode generates a lot of ball movement and contacts, and it is one of the more enjoyable formats for casual players.
How to Earn the IONIQ 6 Directly in Fortnite (June 25 – July 19)
If you do not want to play Rocket League, there is a second path. Starting June 25, 2026, Fortnite runs its own weekly missions tied to the FIFA World Cup collab. Completing those missions lets you earn the Hyundai IONIQ 6 N Line and World Cup decals directly in Fortnite — no Rocket League required.
These Fortnite missions run through July 19, 2026. If you prefer to stay in Fortnite, wait for June 25 and complete the weekly missions there instead. Both paths lead to the same car in your Locker.
Bonus: Ryza Trophy Car for Fortnite Crew Members
If you have an active Fortnite Crew subscription, there is a bonus free car waiting for you. Log in to Rocket League during the event window and claim the Ryza Trophy Car as part of your Crew membership benefits. It also transfers to Fortnite automatically.
Check your Rocket League inbox or the event page for the Crew claim prompt. This is a separate item from the IONIQ 6 — you get both if you qualify.
Fastest Way to Complete 10 Rocket League Challenges
Here is the most efficient order to work through the event:
- Pick your country and equip the Octane Decal immediately. Do not skip this step. Some challenges are locked without it.
- Start scoring goals right away. The 20, 35, and 50-goal challenges are the longest grind. Start them early so they complete in the background while you chase other tasks.
- Stack the 10,000 points and 500 ball contacts in the same sessions. Both require active match play. Run them together rather than separately.
- Let the XP and level challenges complete passively. Gain 6 XP Levels and Earn 35,000 XP will tick up automatically as you play other challenges.
- Win 5 matches and play 10 matches are straightforward. They will complete naturally across a few sessions.
- Equip the IONIQ 6 the moment you unlock it and keep it equipped for all remaining matches to passively build the 8,000 meters for the LA Mode Decal.
Most players who play two to three hours per session across a few days will complete 10 challenges well before the July 20 deadline. Do not leave it until the final week.
Fortnite Hyundai IONIQ 6 Event Deadline
The Rocket League FIFA World Cup 2026 event ends July 20, 2026, at 9 AM PT. After that, the challenges disappear and any uncompleted rewards are gone.
The Fortnite weekly missions run through July 19, 2026 — one day shorter than the Rocket League event.
Licensed car bodies like the IONIQ 6 have historically not returned to the Item Shop after their event period. There is no confirmed return date after July 20. Treat the deadline as the final opportunity.
