What Is the Epic Sprite Vault in Fortnite Runners

Epic Sprite Vaults are a tier above the standard vaults scattered across the Shattered Coast. Where standard vaults hold one Rare Chest, one Sprite Chest, and Slurp Barrels, Epic Sprite Vaults hold three Sprite Chests, multiple Rare Chests, and supply crates — all concentrated in a single underground room.

The Sprite Chests inside Epic Sprite Vaults also have better pull rates for high-rarity Sprites than the open-world Sprite Chests you find at normal POIs. If your goal is finding Legendary or Mythic Sprites — the Dream, Punk, Zero Point, or Burnt Peanut — these vaults are your primary target every match.

There are exactly two Epic Sprite Vaults in Fortnite Runners. Both are fixed spawn locations that do not change between matches. Both are underground. Neither can be opened with the standard Rare Vault Key — they require the rarer Epic Vault Keycard.

Both Epic Sprite Vault Locations

Epic Sprite Vault 1: Sinister Strip (Beneath The Shape)

The first Epic Sprite Vault is at Sinister Strip, located underground directly beneath The Shape landmark at the centre of the POI.

Sinister Strip is one of the most contested landing zones in Season 3. It is also the same area where the Mythic Limitless Seven Sliders can be found in the Electric Room via the Prison Complex puzzle. Expect heavy early-game traffic here — multiple squads will land with the same targets in mind.

To reach the vault:

• Head to The Shape at Sinister Strip — the large elevated platform landmark at the centre of the POI
• Find the ladder entrance leading underground directly beneath it — the vault is below ground level, so do not assume it does not exist if you cannot see a door at surface level
• Descend via the ladder into the underground vault room
• Interact with the vault door using your Epic Vault Keycard

Epic Sprite Vault 2: Frosted Flats (Beneath FrosDeez)

The second Epic Sprite Vault is at Frosted Flats, on the east side of the POI underneath the FrosDeez ice cream and slushy parlor building.

Frosted Flats sits in the ruins of the Ice King’s Fortress on the Shattered Coast. It features ice cream parlors and a generally quieter early-game environment compared to Sinister Strip. This vault sees significantly less traffic than the Sinister Strip location, making it the better choice for players who want to open a vault without a guaranteed early fight.

To reach the vault:

• Head to the east side of Frosted Flats and locate the FrosDeez ice cream and slushy parlor building
• Find the ladder entrance on the east side of the building leading underground
• Descend and locate the vault door
• Interact with it using your Epic Vault Keycard

Both vaults are underground. This is the most common reason players arrive at the correct POI and cannot find the entrance — they are searching at ground level. Look for the ladder specifically. The vault entrance is not a visible door at street level.

How to Get the Epic Vault Keycard in Fortnite Runners

The Epic Vault Keycard does not have a fixed spawn location this season. It drops randomly from Chests across the entire map with no guaranteed source. This is the main gating factor for the Epic Sprite Vault — you cannot plan to pick up the keycard at a specific spot the way you could in previous seasons.

The two reliable approaches:

Open as Many Rare Chests as Possible

Rare Chests offer the best drop rate for the Epic Vault Keycard. Standard Chests can also drop it but at a lower rate. Route your early-match loot through areas with high Rare Chest density and open every Rare Chest you find before other players clear them.

High Rare Chest density areas include Sinister Strip, Heatwave Harbor, Calamari Canyon, and The Battlewoods. If you are specifically hunting the keycard, drop into one of these zones and sweep every Rare Chest before rotating toward your target vault.

Scouting Route Between Vaults

One confirmed efficient method: start by landing in the rocky area between Calamari Canyon and the Zero Point at the centre of the map. This zone has a solid concentration of chests and launchpads. If no keycard appears after a minute of looting, use a launchpad and rotate south toward the grass and water area between Sinister Strip and Heatwave Harbor. Continue sweeping. Still nothing — push further south toward Heatwave Harbor and Sunken Shores, then cross toward Shaken Sanctuary or Frosted Flats.

This route keeps you moving through chest-rich zones while naturally converging on the areas nearest both vault locations. When the keycard drops, you are already positioned to reach either vault quickly.

Squad Looting

The simplest way to improve keycard odds: play with a full squad of four. Four players opening separate buildings simultaneously multiplies your collective chest count per minute dramatically. One squadmate finding the keycard benefits the entire team’s vault access. Split across a POI on landing and reconvene at the vault entrance when someone calls out a keycard find.

Chain Keycard From Inside a Standard Vault

This is the opportunity most players miss. Standard vaults — opened with a Rare Vault Key — contain a Rare Chest inside. That Rare Chest can drop an Epic Vault Keycard. If you open a standard vault early in a match and find an Epic Keycard inside the Rare Chest, you can chain directly from a standard vault into an Epic Sprite Vault in the same match. Always check the Rare Chest inside a standard vault before leaving — a keycard inside is possible and worth routing for.

What Happens When You Find the Epic Vault Keycard

The moment you pick up an Epic Vault Keycard, the nearest open Epic Sprite Vault is marked on your map. The marker shows you which vault to head for — Sinister Strip or Frosted Flats.

Two situations to know:

• One vault is marked: That vault is still open. Head there immediately. The mark stays active until you reach it or get eliminated.
• No vault is marked: Both Epic Sprite Vaults have already been opened by other players this match. Drop the keycard — it has no use and carrying it takes an inventory slot. Do not chase a vault that no longer exists.

Multiple keycards can exist in the same match. If you find one and the nearest vault is already taken, another player might still be holding their keycard on the way to the other vault. Eliminating a player with a keycard and heading to the remaining vault is a viable play.

All Loot Inside the Epic Sprite Vault

Each Epic Sprite Vault contains the same loot configuration every match:

• 3 guaranteed Sprite Chests — the defining reward. Each one guarantees a Sprite drop alongside a standard loot item. Three rolls in one room is the highest single-location Sprite density in the game.
• Multiple Rare Chests — high-rarity weapon drops. One of these can contain another Epic Vault Keycard, enabling the chain vault strategy.
• Supply Crates — additional standard loot items
• Slurp Barrels — passive shield and health regeneration items to top up before you leave

The Sprite Chests inside Epic Sprite Vaults have a notably better pull rate for Legendary and Mythic Sprites than open-world Sprite Chests. The Zero Point Sprite, Burnt Peanut Sprite, Punk Sprite, and Dream Sprite are all more likely to drop from these vaults than from random Sprite Chests across the map. If you are specifically chasing any of these high-rarity companions, the Epic Sprite Vault is your primary target — not general Sprite Chest farming routes.

Sinister Strip vs Frosted Flats: Which Vault to Target

Both vaults contain identical loot. The choice between them comes down to risk tolerance and where you find your keycard.

Choose Sinister Strip if:

• You are already landing in the central area of the map
• You want the option of also attempting the Mythic Limitless Seven Sliders puzzle in the same drop
• Your squad is large enough to contest the early-game traffic
• The keycard marks Sinister Strip as the nearer vault

Choose Frosted Flats if:

• You want vault loot without a guaranteed early-game fight
• You are rotating from the northern part of the map and Frosted Flats is on your natural path
• Sinister Strip is already heavily contested when you land
• The keycard marks Frosted Flats as the nearer vault

For most players — especially solo players and squads without a defensive early-game setup — Frosted Flats is the better choice. The loot is identical and the risk is significantly lower.

Epic Sprite Vault Tips for Fortnite Runners

• Do not rush the vault entrance before you have a full loadout. Both vaults are underground — entering with poor weapons in a known high-value location means you are an easy target for anyone who followed you in.
• Collect all three Sprite Chests before anything else inside the vault. If you are eliminated while looting the Rare Chests, you lose any Sprites you found unless you already banked them. Sprite Chests first, other loot second.
• Use a Portable Extractor inside the vault if you pull a rare Sprite. You are underground with cover, no active Extraction Site noise, and no public signal.
