Fortnite Runners vault locations are spread across the entire Shattered Coast map in Chapter 7 Season 3. Vaults are some of the best loot sources this season, holding Rare Chests, Sprite Chests, and Slurp Barrels. Knowing where every vault is before you drop gives you a serious edge when a key lands in your inventory mid-match.

Fortnite Runners Vault Types Explained

There are two vault types in Chapter 7 Season 3, each requiring a different key:

• Standard Vault — opened with a Rare Vault Key. Contains one Rare Chest, a Sprite Chest, and Slurp Barrels. Six of these exist on the map.
• Epic Sprite Vault — opened with an Epic Vault Keycard. Contains three Sprite Chests, Rare Chests, and supply crates. Only two exist. These are the best Sprite-farming locations in the game.

There is also a secret vault at Cluster Coast that requires no key at all. More on that below.

How to Get Vault Keys in Fortnite Runners

This season changed how keys work. There are no fixed NPC or floor spawn locations for either key type. Both the Rare Vault Key and the Epic Vault Keycard drop randomly from Chests across the map.

• Rare Vault Keys — drop fairly often from standard Chests. You will find one most matches if you loot aggressively early.
• Epic Vault Keycards — much rarer. Rare Chests offer the best drop rate. Floor loot is possible but uncommon.

When you pick up either key, the nearest vault briefly appears on your map. Check the location immediately. If it is across the map or inside the closing storm, it may not be worth chasing. Plan your route fast.

One useful tip: vaults sometimes contain a second key inside. If you open a standard vault and find an Epic Vault Keycard in the Rare Chest, you can chain into a Sprite Vault in the same match. It is rare, but worth checking every chest inside.

How to Get an Epic Vault Keycard Faster

The Epic Vault Keycard is the harder item to find. A few things help:

• Open every Rare Chest you find — the drop rate is higher than standard chests.
• Drop with a full squad of four. More players looting at the same time means a better collective chance of someone pulling a keycard in the first few minutes.
• Route through high-density chest areas near Sinister Strip or Frosted Flats — both are near the Epic Sprite Vaults, which saves travel time once you find the keycard.

All Fortnite Runners Vault Locations (Chapter 7 Season 3)

All 8 vaults are fixed spawns. Their positions do not change between matches. Six are underground — look for a nearby ladder when you reach the marked area.

Rare Vault Locations (Standard Key)

These six vaults all open with a Rare Vault Key:

• Mile High Retreat Warehouse — underneath the warehouse building southeast of Lifty Lodge. Go below ground level via the ladder on the exterior.
• Southwest of Wonkeeland — located southwest of the Wonkeeland POI. A Rare Vault Key opens it.
• Southeast of The Battlewoods — hidden southeast of The Battlewoods near the Extraction Site in that area.
• WhaleTales Building, Calamari Canyon — in the basement of the WhaleTales building on the east side of Calamari Canyon.
• Shady Eyes Building, Heatwave Harbor — in the basement of the Shady Eyes building on the east side of Heatwave Harbor.
• Southeast of Shaken Sanctuary — in the basement of the building at the southeast corner of Shaken Sanctuary.

Most of these cluster around the central and southern portions of the Shattered Coast map. If you land anywhere in that zone and find a Rare Key, one of these vaults will likely be nearby.

Epic Sprite Vault Locations (Epic Vault Keycard)

There are two Epic Sprite Vaults. Both require the rarer Epic Vault Keycard and both are underground:

• Frosted Flats Bunker — on the east side of Frosted Flats, underneath the FrosDeez ice cream and slushy parlor building. Find the ladder entrance and head down.
• Sinister Strip — beneath The Shape — underground directly below The Shape landmark at Sinister Strip. This POI is busy, so expect competition for the keycard and the vault itself.

Epic Sprite Vaults contain three guaranteed Sprite Chests plus Rare Chests and supply crates. These are your best shot at landing a legendary or Mythic Sprite, including the Zero Point Sprite. If you get an Epic Keycard, prioritise these over everything else.

Cluster Coast Secret Vault (No Key Required)

Cluster Coast has a hidden vault that does not need any key. You open it by solving a short environmental puzzle.

Here is how to do it:

• Go to the small outdoor pools around Cluster Coast — do not head inside the buildings yet.
• Look in the pools for a rubber duck wearing sunglasses. Interact with it to pick it up.
• Carry the duck inside the building directly next to the pool where you found it.
• Find the large Cluster poster inside the building and locate the nearby display case.
• Place the rubber duck in the display case to unlock the secret vault.

This vault is completely free to open. No RNG required. It is a reliable way to get vault loot even in matches where keys never drop for you. The loot inside is similar to a standard Rare Vault — expect a Rare Chest, a Sprite Chest, and Slurp Barrels.

What Loot Is Inside Fortnite Runners Vaults

Here is a clear breakdown of what each vault type contains:

• Standard Vault (Rare Key) — one Rare Chest, one Sprite Chest, Slurp Barrels. Solid mid-game loot boost.
• Epic Sprite Vault (Keycard) — three Sprite Chests, multiple Rare Chests, supply crates. Best Sprite source in the game outside of Mastery Monday events.
• Cluster Coast Secret Vault — one Rare Chest, one Sprite Chest, Slurp Barrels. Same as a standard vault, no key needed.

Sprite Chests are the key reason to run vaults this season. Each one guarantees a Sprite drop alongside a loot item. If you are trying to build your permanent Sprite Collection, routing through an Epic Sprite Vault with a keycard is the fastest way to do it.

Best Strategy for Vaults in Fortnite Runners

A few practical tips that most vault guides skip:

• Check the vault ping immediately. When you pick up a key, the map briefly shows the nearest vault. If it is deep in the storm path, cut your losses and keep the key in case you rotate near another vault later.
• Do not activate a vault until your loadout is solid. Opening a vault takes time. You are a sitting target. Go in with a full weapon set and shields topped up.
• In squads, have one player guard the entrance while the rest loot inside. Vault entrances are funnels — one enemy can block your exit.
• Always check the Rare Chest inside a standard vault for a keycard. You might chain straight into an Epic Sprite Vault in the same match.
• If you never find a key, go to Cluster Coast. The rubber duck puzzle vault is always available and requires zero RNG.
• Six vaults cluster in the south-central area of the Shattered Coast. If you land anywhere between Heatwave Harbor, Shaken Sanctuary, The Battlewoods, and Wonkeeland, you are near multiple vault options at once.

Fortnite Runners Vault Sunken Shores Gas Station Location

This vault is one of the easiest to miss. It is located at the gas station northeast of Sunken Shores — not inside the main Sunken Shores POI itself. If you are searching the coastline and cannot find it, move slightly northeast until you reach the gas station building. The vault entrance is nearby.

A Rare Vault Key opens it. The gas station area tends to be quieter than the central POIs, which makes this one of the lower-risk vault runs on the map.

Fortnite Runners Sinister Strip Sprite Vault Tips

Sinister Strip is a high-traffic landing zone because it also holds the Mythic Limitless Seven Sliders in the Electric Room. Expect heavy competition if you drop here for the Epic Sprite Vault.

The vault itself is underground, directly beneath The Shape. Look for the ladder entrance once you are at the landmark. You will need an Epic Vault Keycard — a Rare Key will not open this vault.

If Sinister Strip is too contested, head to Frosted Flats instead. The second Epic Sprite Vault is there, and it typically sees less early-game traffic than Sinister Strip.
