A Genshin Impact leak suggests players can claim Sethos for free in Version 5.7, launching June 18. Here’s what we know about events, new characters, and endgame content.

Genshin Impact Leak Suggests Free Sethos in Version 5.7, Along With New Events and Characters

Genshin Impact Version 5.7 is shaping up to be a bit of a slower patch in terms of content, but according to recent leaks, it might still pack some serious value — especially for players hoping to add Sethos, the Electro Bow user, to their roster for free.

While this update won’t include a map expansion, leakers claim it will include a Dainsleif quest, a Sumeru-based Flagship Event, and a brand-new endgame mode that’s already raising eyebrows.

Sethos May Be the Free 4-Star in Version 5.7

Leaks from KazusaLeaks suggest that players will be able to grab Sethos for free during the first half of the Flagship Event. While it’s unclear whether he’ll also be featured on a character banner, this is great news for free-to-play players or anyone looking to try out an Aggravate-focused Electro DPS.

Sethos has been described by the community as a “budget Clorinde,” with a playstyle that fits perfectly into Aggravate teams. His best weapon is ironically a 3-star Bow (Slingshot), making him super accessible. He does have high Energy needs, but pairing him with Raiden or Fischl smooths things out nicely.

What’s Coming in Version 5.7?

Here’s a quick overview of what’s been leaked so far for the update dropping June 18, 2025:

  • No map expansion, but we’re heading back to Sumeru.
  • A new Dainsleif story quest continues the long-running Abyss plot.
  • Two new characters:
    • Skirk (Cryo hypercarry tied to Freeze comps)
    • Dahlia (rumored to synergize similarly)
  • Potential first glimpse of Nod-Krai NPCs, possibly bordering Sumeru’s northern edge.
  • The Flagship Event will be Sumeru-themed, and likely similar in scope to past region-celebrating events like Version 3.7’s Fontaine teaser.
  • New endgame content, with a modified Hydro Tulpa boss, and buffs focused on Aggravate, Overload, Burning, and Freeze teams.

What About Skirk and Dahlia?

While both are making their debut in 5.7, they’re reportedly focused on Freeze comps, meaning they likely won’t have synergy with Sethos, who thrives in Electro-Dendro setups. Still, the new Spiral Abyss modifiers seem to encourage a variety of team types — and for those interested in experimenting, the co-op enabled first chambers of the new endgame mode will give you a place to try.

Version 5.7 might not bring a brand-new zone, but with a free Sethos, a fresh storyline, and challenging endgame updates, there’s still a lot for Genshin players to look forward to. Plus, any nod to the mysterious Nod-Krai region is bound to spark speculation about what comes next.
