Ghost Town, an 80s-Set Paranormal VR Mystery from The Room Studio, Gets a Launch Date

Fireproof Games—the studio behind the eerie puzzle-box adventure The Room and its amazing sequels—has finally announced a release date for their upcoming paranormal VR mystery, Ghost Town. It’s officially dropping on Meta Quest on April 24, with PCVR and PSVR2 versions coming later this year.

What’s Ghost Town About?

If you haven’t heard of Ghost Town yet, here’s the deal: the game throws you back to 1983, where you play as Edith Penrose, a ghost hunter running a successful paranormal detective agency in London. She’s doing alright—almost caught up on rent, and the ghosts in her bathroom mirror haven’t been too demanding lately.

But things take a serious turn when Edith’s brother suddenly goes missing. Desperate for answers, she embarks on a supernatural journey that first takes her to a remote Scottish island in search of a gifted clairvoyant, and then deep into London’s haunted underbelly, where the real mystery unfolds.

What to Expect in Ghost Town

Fireproof is bringing some seriously cool VR mechanics to the game:

🔦 Large, immersive locations – Walk around freely with a torch in hand to explore haunted environments.
👻 Fully motion-captured characters – Meet (and probably get spooked by) both the living and the dead.
🧩 Tactile puzzles – Use your hands to manipulate objects, solve puzzles, and piece together the mystery.
🪄 Magic & Ghost Summoning – Cast spells and even help restless spirits move on.

You’ll have a controller in each hand, letting you interact naturally with objects, explore eerie places, and uncover hidden secrets as you go.

Why This is a Big Deal

Fireproof absolutely nailed the creepy puzzle-adventure genre with The Room series, and if their 2020 VR hit The Room VR: A Dark Matter is anything to go by, Ghost Town is going to be something special.

If you love mystery, the supernatural, and hands-on VR exploration, this is definitely a game to watch.

With Ghost Town launching April 24 on Meta Quest and PSVR2/PCVR later this year, we don’t have much longer to wait!
