Unlock the new Zombified fruit mutation in Grow a Garden with help from the Chicken Zombie pet. Boost your fruit’s value and show off your neon-green harvest!
Grow a Garden’s Blood Moon Update Brings Zombified Fruit Mutation
Grow a Garden is shaking things up again—this time with a spooky twist! The latest Blood Moon update is riding the Minecraft Movie’s Chicken Jockey wave, introducing a brand-new fruit mutation: Zombified. Don’t worry though—this eerie, neon-green look won’t rot your plants. In fact, it does the opposite by multiplying their sale value.
If you’re itching to show off this new look (and make a nice profit while you’re at it), here’s exactly how to get the Zombified mutation in Grow a Garden.

How to Get the Zombified Mutation in Grow a Garden
For the first time in Grow a Garden, pet abilities can actually mutate your fruit—and yep, that’s how you’re getting the Zombified mutation. You’ll need to get your hands on a Chicken Zombie pet.
If you’re not sure how to get one, don’t sweat it—we’ve got a separate guide that walks you through how to unlock the Chicken Zombie pet step-by-step. Go check that out, then circle back here when you’re ready.
Once you’ve got your undead chicken friend, here’s what to do:
- Hold the Chicken Zombie in your hand.
- Left-click on an empty spot on your farm to release it.
- That’s it! The Chicken Zombie’s passive ability handles the rest.
Every 29.46 minutes (based on its Age 1 default), there’s a 20.27% chance that a random fruit in your garden will get the Zombified mutation. As a bonus, it also boosts Egg hatch speed by 10.14%.
Pro tip: Make sure you’re feeding your Chicken Zombie pet regularly. Keeping it full and happy helps increase its XP over time, which improves its mutation chances even further.
What Does the Zombified Mutation Do?
Right now, the Zombified mutation is mostly for flexing—and making bank. It doesn’t have a special in-game function (yet), but what it does do is give your mutated fruits a massive 25x sale multiplier.
You can sell those Zombified fruits for a ton of cash or just stash them in your backpack to show off to friends who haven’t scored one yet. Either way, it’s a win.
