Marvel Rivals Season 7 is still in full swing, but NetEase isn’t wasting any time. The game is already dropping hints about who’s coming next. Alongside a major patch update that brought a new map, quality-of-life improvements, and bug fixes, a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moment in the new Lower Manhattan trailer has the community buzzing about a supervillain making his way to the roster in Season 8.
What Is Marvel Rivals Season 7 About?
The current season, “The Hunt Is On,” centers on Marvel’s heroes racing to stop the Alchemax Corporation from seizing control of Lower Manhattan. The featured characters in the lore are Black Cat and White Fox, both of whom were introduced as playable units this season. To match the narrative, NetEase unveiled the new Lower Manhattan map, which takes players through iconic New York streets complete with references to the Alchemax building, Wilson Fisk’s criminal empire, and even a gold statue of Jeff the Shark tucked in for fans to find.
The Hood Teaser Everyone Is Talking About
At the very end of the Lower Manhattan trailer, The Hood’s mystical cloak appears hovering inside a glass case — and the shot lingers long enough that it’s clearly no accident. This wasn’t the first breadcrumb either. Back on March 6, 2026, Marvel Rivals Infinity Comic Issue #43 hit with The Hood’s silhouette visible on the cover, generating significant buzz from fans and insiders alike. The Infinity Comic has a solid track record of teasing upcoming content — it did the same thing with White Fox before she became playable in Season 7 — so the community is treating this as a very strong signal.
Taken together, two separate teasers within weeks of each other make this feel less like speculation and more like a matter of when, not if.
Marvel Rivals Season 8 Release Date — When Could The Hood Arrive?
NetEase has not officially confirmed a release date for The Hood. Based on how the studio typically handles these things, the earliest realistic window is the Season 8 update, expected around May 15, 2026. That said, don’t be surprised if he slides into Season 9 instead. Characters teased through map trailers and lore drops are rarely added to the roster immediately — both Blade and Deadpool were hinted at for months before NetEase officially added them. The Hood will likely follow the same slow-burn approach.

Who Is The Hood in Marvel Comics?
Parker Robbins didn’t start out as anyone special. He was a small-time criminal in New York, stealing to get by and trying to support his ailing mother. Everything changed when he and his cousin broke into a warehouse and stumbled across a Nisanti demon mid-ritual. Parker shot the demon, seemingly killed it, and made off with its mystical hooded cloak and boots — not knowing what he’d just gotten his hands on.
It didn’t take long to figure it out. The boots gave him the ability to levitate, letting him walk on air. The cloak turned him invisible as long as he held his breath. The powers behind both items trace back to Dormammu, the ruler of the Dark Dimension, who had orchestrated the whole encounter to gain a foothold on Earth through a human host.
Rather than becoming a hero, Parker leaned all the way into the criminal life. Inspired by the Kingpin’s model of organized crime, he built his own syndicate from scratch, pulling together a network of street-level villains and becoming one of the most feared figures in New York’s underworld. Along the way he’s clashed with Spider-Man, Daredevil, the Avengers, and plenty of others. He also has a demonic transformation up his sleeve — when pushed far enough, Parker shifts into a monstrous form with enough raw power to go toe-to-toe with Wolverine.
More recently, he became Ghost Rider, adding yet another terrifying chapter to an already unpredictable career.
The Hood in the MCU — Ironheart and Beyond
In the MCU, Anthony Ramos brought the character to life in the Disney+ series Ironheart, where this version of Parker made a deal with Mephisto rather than Dormammu, giving the show its own distinct take on his origin. His story isn’t over in the MCU either, with future appearances still a real possibility.
What Role Will The Hood Play in Marvel Rivals?
Here’s where things get interesting — and where some earlier reporting may need a correction. Many fans assumed The Hood would slot in as a Duelist given his dual pistols, quick movement, and aggressive combat style. However, dataminers and reliable leakers suggest he will actually be a Vanguard in Marvel Rivals, not a Duelist.
As for his kit, leaked ability data points toward a playstyle built around misdirection and confusion. The Hood may be able to project clones of himself, control them remotely, and detonate them on enemies — while his real body stays invisible and stationary during the process. It’s a mechanic that rewards smart positioning and mind games far more than a straightforward Duelist would. Combined with his dual pistols, levitation, and invisibility, he could be one of the more unique additions the game has seen.
Fans are already excited, with plenty hoping his Ghost Rider form makes it into the game as an alternate skin or ultimate ability. Marvel Rivals has a history of seeding its lore and maps with character teasers long before an official announcement — Phoenix is a good recent example of that. With two Hood teasers now out in the open, the wait for an official reveal shouldn’t be much longer.
