Minecraft Dungeons 2: How to Equip Capes and Get Every Cape

How to Equip Capes in Minecraft Dungeons 2

    TL;DR

    • Capes are cosmetic items in Minecraft Dungeons 2. They do not affect combat.
    • They are NOT in your inventory. You find them under the Collectibles tab.
    • Open inventory → go to Collectibles → click the hanger icon → select your cape.
    • There are currently five capes in the game.
    • The Hero Cape and Twisted Cape also work in Minecraft Java and Bedrock Edition.
    • The Aurora Cape is a free limited-time reward for watching streams on Twitch or TikTok.

Capes are one of the best-looking cosmetics in Minecraft Dungeons 2. But a lot of players unlock one and then cannot figure out where to actually put it on. The answer is simple once you know it — capes are not in your gear slots. They live in a completely different part of the menu.

This guide will show you exactly how to equip capes in Minecraft Dungeons 2 and how to unlock every single one currently in the game.

Where to Find Capes in Minecraft Dungeons 2

This is the part that confuses most players. Capes are not equipment. You will not find them next to your weapons, armor, or talismans. They are purely cosmetic, which means Mojang put them in a separate section of the menu called Collectibles.

Think of Collectibles as your cosmetic wardrobe. It holds capes, skins, pets, and other visual items that have nothing to do with your stats or combat build.

How to Equip Capes in Minecraft Dungeons 2

How to Equip Capes in Minecraft Dungeons 2 — Step by Step

Follow these steps to put on a cape in Minecraft Dungeons 2:

    1. Open your inventory — press I on PC or the Up arrow on the D-Pad on controller.
    2. Go to the Collectibles tab — it is next to your main inventory screen.
    3. Click the hanger icon — this is just below the Enchantment Books section. The hanger icon is the capes section.
    4. Browse your capes — any cape you have unlocked will appear here.
    5. Select the cape you want — your character preview on the right side of the screen will update immediately to show how it looks.

That is all there is to it. You can swap capes as many times as you like. There is no cost or cooldown. If you want to remove a cape entirely, simply deselect it in the same menu.

All Capes in Minecraft Dungeons 2 and How to Get Each One

There are currently five capes in Minecraft Dungeons 2. Each one has a different way of being unlocked. Here is the full list:

    1. Hero Cape

This is the most accessible cape for longtime Minecraft fans. To get it, you need to have played the original Minecraft Dungeons and then log into Minecraft Dungeons 2 using the same Microsoft account before December 31, 2026.

Once the game detects your history with both titles, the Hero Cape will automatically unlock and become available in your Collectibles tab. This cape also works in Minecraft Java Edition and Bedrock Edition on the same account.

    • How to get: Play Minecraft Dungeons + log into Dungeons 2 on the same Microsoft account by December 31, 2026.
    • Works in regular Minecraft: Yes — Java and Bedrock Edition.

    2. Twisted Cape

The Twisted Cape was a pre-order bonus for players who bought Minecraft Dungeons 2 before the September 28, 2026 deadline. It is no longer available to new players — but if you pre-ordered the game, you can still redeem it using the same Microsoft account you used at purchase.

Like the Hero Cape, the Twisted Cape also crosses over into regular Minecraft. It works in both Java and Bedrock Edition.

    • How to get: Pre-order reward — no longer claimable for new players.
    • Works in regular Minecraft: Yes — Java and Bedrock Edition.

    3. Soul Cape

The Soul Cape is a premium cosmetic tied to the Deluxe Edition of Minecraft Dungeons 2. If you purchased the Deluxe Edition, this cape is automatically added to your account.

It has a distinctive look that fits the soul-themed build paths in the game. As of now, Mojang has not confirmed whether the Soul Cape will come to regular Minecraft.

    • Works in regular Minecraft: Not confirmed.

Do Capes Change Your Stats in Minecraft Dungeons 2?

No. Capes are purely cosmetic. They do not affect your damage, defense, speed, or any other combat stat. Mojang has separated them from all gear entirely for this reason.

Your build power comes from your melee weapon, ranged weapon, armor pieces, enchantments, and talismans. A cape is just the finishing touch on how your hero looks while doing all of that. You can wear any cape with any build and never lose a single point of performance.

    Tips for Capes in Co-Op

Capes are actually useful in four-player co-op for a practical reason. When combat gets chaotic in the Sift or during boss fights, distinct capes help you spot your teammates quickly on screen. If all four players wear different capes, it is much easier to track who needs reviving and where your party is spread out.

It is a small thing, but in a hectic co-op session it genuinely helps. You can also swap your cape in the Collectibles menu between runs without any penalty.
