Modern Warfare 4: All DMZ Gunsmith Weapons

Modern Warfare 4 All DMZ Gunsmith Weapons

The Gunsmith is where you build and buy your weapons in MW4 DMZ. But unlike Multiplayer, you can’t just walk in and buy any gun you want. Most weapons are locked behind Weapon Manuals — loot items you find in Hajin and extract to permanently unlock that weapon.

Here’s the full list of every Gunsmith weapon, which ones need a manual, how the system works, and how to get set up fast.

    • TL;DR
    • The Gunsmith unlocks at DMZ Level 10 at your FOB.
    • Most weapons require a Weapon Manual — find it in Hajin, extract with it, then buy the weapon with DMZ Cash.
    • The Han 86, PPSh-41, and Sang 9mm are available without a manual.
    • Purchased weapons support up to 5 attachments plus an Apex Attachment slot.
    • There are 28 Weapon Manuals to collect in total at launch.
    • Extracting a Weapon Manual also pays you $5,000 DMZ Cash.

How Does the DMZ Gunsmith Work in MW4?

The Gunsmith opens at DMZ Level 10 and each base weapon needs its own Weapon Manual carried out on exfil. In Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 DMZ, building your own guns takes two separate unlocks — raise your DMZ Level to 10 to unlock the Gunsmith at your FOB, then unlock each weapon you want to use.

Once a weapon is unlocked, you can buy it with DMZ Cash as many times as you want. Lose it in a deployment? Go back to the Gunsmith and buy it again.

A few important things to know about how the Gunsmith works:

    • Purchased weapons get up to 5 attachment slots plus an Apex Attachment slot. The DMZ Cash price increases with each attachment you try to equip.
    • Weapon levels carry over from Multiplayer. Any XP you’ve put into a weapon in MP counts in DMZ too, meaning attachments you’ve already unlocked are ready to use immediately.
    • Weapons can also be acquired by looting during a deployment, constructed with a Weapon Manual found in Hajin, or purchased from the FOB Vendor.
    • Any gun you exfil with can be modded as a single copy — losing it doesn’t unlock that model permanently. Only extracting a Weapon Manual gives you the permanent unlock.

    What Are Weapon Manuals?

Weapon Manuals are loot items that must leave with you on exfil. Extracting one makes that base weapon available to buy at the Gunsmith. They show up as items named “MANUAL: [weapon name]” with the type line WEAPON MANUAL and the text “Unlocks ability to purchase this weapon in Gunsmith.” They have a listed value of $5,000.

Once you extract with a Weapon Manual, the weapon is yours permanently in the Gunsmith — no need to find it again. When DMZ begins, the FOB board shows “GUNSMITH WEAPON MANUALS 0/28,” tracking your collection progress.

For the full breakdown on farming Weapon Manuals and the best spots to find them, check out the MW4 DMZ Weapon Manuals guide.

    DMZ Gunsmith Weapon Prices

Once you’ve unlocked a weapon with its Weapon Manual, you buy it with DMZ Cash before each deployment. Here are the confirmed base purchase prices for weapons currently tracked:

    • Han 86 — $6,000
    • M4 — $6,250
    • Hyeon Burst — $5,250
    • MAR-9 — $6,500
    • Patriot XMR — $6,500
    • Oris 8.6 — $7,000
    • ISO Nightshade — $3,000
    • FiNN LMG — $8,000
    • Mosin-Nagant — $7,500
    • KG-7 Vulcan — $16,000
    • Signal .50 — $14,000

Attachment slots cost additional DMZ Cash on top of the base weapon price. The more attachments you add to a build, the more expensive it becomes per deployment.

Need more DMZ Cash? Completing Story Missions is one of the fastest ways to earn it. Each mission pays $25,000. See the MW4 DMZ All Story Missions and Rewards guide for the full list.

How to Farm Weapon Manuals Fast

Weapon Manuals can only be found randomly in Military Containers (Green Military Crates or Weapon Lockers) and Safes. There’s no guaranteed spawn — it’s RNG — but some areas give you a much better chance than others.

    The best approach:

    • Target Military Containers and Weapon Lockers in High Threat areas. The more military-heavy the zone, the more green crates you’ll find.
    • Chang-san Air Base is the most reliable spot. Weapon Manuals are more commonly found in Military Containers and Crates, like within the Air Base bunker. One confirmed example: a Manual: Type 73 was found in a barracks at Chang-san Air Base.
    • Loot the moving train. A Manual: Sang 9mm was found in a blue duffel bag on the moving train in Cheongun Outskirts.
    • Use the Insured Slot to secure a Weapon Manual if you’re unsure whether you’ll make it to exfil. The Secure Slot in a Rare Backpack also works.
    • Extract three Weapon Manuals for the same weapon and you unlock the War Spoils Camo for it — a nice bonus for dedicated farming.

Blueprints bypass the Weapon Manual system entirely. Blueprints are free once in DMZ — if you lose a Blueprint weapon, it can be rebought at a discount. The F.N.G. M4 Blueprint from the Boot Camp Event, for example, gives you immediate M4 access in DMZ without needing the M4 Weapon Manual. See the MW4 Boot Camp Event guide for how to earn free blueprints.

Weapons Not Available in the Gunsmith

A few weapons in MW4 have restricted or no Gunsmith access:

    • Sang 9mm — Available in the default loadout and can be used in DMZ, but has no Gunsmith access.
    • Axion — Only available through a starter Default Loadout class and has no Gunsmith or Apex Attachment access.
    • WZ.55 Striga — Primarily appears in the campaign; DMZ Gunsmith access through Weapon Manual is noted but limited.
    • Launchers — Appearance customization only. No attachment slots.

Tips for Using the DMZ Gunsmith

    • Prioritize the Han 86 early. It’s the only AR available without a Weapon Manual and it’s one of the strongest weapons in DMZ. Use it while you farm Manuals for other guns.
    • Level weapons in Multiplayer. Weapon XP is shared between MP and DMZ, so any attachment unlocks you earn in Multiplayer carry straight into the Gunsmith.
    • Don’t over-spec your Gunsmith build early. Attachment slots cost extra DMZ Cash. Keep builds lean when cash is tight and upgrade as your reserves grow.
    • Check the DMZ Level Unlocks guide to see what becomes available at each FOB station level as you progress — the Gunsmith at Level 10 is just one piece of the progression system.
    • Run Story Missions to unlock extra content. The Supreme Leader’s Bunker and Reactor DRC Locker both hold high-rarity weapons that can save you Gunsmith costs on a given run.

And if you want to know which weapons perform best in DMZ specifically, the MW4 SBMM guide covers how lobbies are built — useful context for deciding which weapon class suits your playstyle.
