Code Vein 2 — January 30, 2026
Bandai Namco’s follow-up to the anime-style action RPG expanded on the original’s bloodborne-adjacent combat with a deeper character customization system and more complex co-op mechanics. Well received by fans of the original.
Dragon Quest VII: Reimagined — February 5, 2026
Square Enix brought back one of the classic Dragon Quest titles with a full remake featuring modernized graphics and updated mechanics. A major release for JRPG fans on Xbox, especially given the franchise’s history of limited Xbox presence.
Resident Evil: Requiem — February 27, 2026
The ninth mainline Resident Evil picks up after Village and returns the series to tighter, more resource-limited horror. It runs smoothly on Xbox Series X at 60fps with impressive lighting and atmosphere. One of the strongest horror releases of the year and a genuine standout in the franchise.
Crimson Desert — March 19, 2026
Pearl Abyss’s open-world action RPG finally arrived after years of development. A massive, visually ambitious game that performed well on Xbox Series X. It targets 4K on the hardware and delivers detailed environments and fluid combat. A demanding title — the Series S version required significant visual compromises according to Digital Foundry.
007: First Light — May 27, 2026
IO Interactive delivered one of the most praised games of 2026. 007: First Light is a Bond origin story starring a new James Bond played by Patrick Gibson. It blends stealth, action, and traversal in ways that feel authentically Bond. IO Interactive has confirmed plans for this to be the first in a trilogy. It launched to strong first-day sales and achieved incredible commercial results for the studio.
Forza Horizon 6 — May 19, 2026
Playground Games’ latest open-world racing game is set across Japan and is one of the best-looking games on Xbox Series X right now. The car handling is sharper than ever, the map is diverse and gorgeous, and the content is enormous. It launched day one on Game Pass and sold 4.9 million copies despite that. A system-seller and one of the year’s most-played titles on the platform.
GTA 6 — November 19, 2026
Rockstar’s biggest release ever launches on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S on November 19, 2026. The game is set in a fictional version of Miami and features dual protagonists. It is the most anticipated game of the entire current console generation and is confirmed to run well on Xbox Series X. A PC version has not been dated and is expected later following Rockstar’s standard console-first release pattern. Note: This game does not launch on Xbox Game Pass.
Pragmata — 2026
Capcom’s new original IP launched in 2026 to strong reviews. It is an action-adventure that blends tight gameplay with an emotionally driven story following two protagonists. GameSpot praised it as one of the year’s best surprises — a short, focused experience that puts gameplay and storytelling above spectacle.

Halo: Campaign Evolved — July 28, 2026
Microsoft’s flagship FPS franchise returns with Halo: Campaign Evolved, revealed at the Xbox Games Showcase on June 7. This is a significant new chapter in the series — not a remake of the original, but a new game with a full campaign. It launches July 28 and will be available on Game Pass day one for Xbox Series X|S and PC.
Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy — August 27, 2026
Set 15 years before the events of A Plague Tale: Innocence, this new entry follows a new protagonist named Sophia on a mysterious island filled with ancient dangers. The reveal trailer at the Xbox Games Showcase showed intense close-quarters combat and atmospheric exploration. It arrives August 27 and is a Game Pass day-one title.
Valor Mortis — September 24, 2026
Revealed with a release date trailer at the Xbox Games Showcase, Valor Mortis arrives September 24. A Game Pass day-one title on Xbox Series X|S and PC.
Gears of War: E-Day — October 6, 2026
One of the Xbox Games Showcase’s biggest announcements. Gears of War: E-Day is a prequel set on Emergence Day — the moment the Locust invaded and the world fell. It focuses on Marcus Fenix and Dominic Santiago before the events of the original trilogy. Crucially, it is confirmed as a console exclusive to Xbox Series X|S and PC — it will not come to PS5. It launches October 6 and is a day-one Game Pass title.
Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2 — August 27, 2026
Konami’s second volume of the Metal Gear Solid remaster collection arrives on Xbox Series X. Expected to include Metal Gear Solid 3, 4, and Peace Walker in updated form. A major release for fans of the classic stealth franchise.
The Blood of Dawnwalker — September 3, 2026
A dark fantasy action RPG from CD Projekt Red’s new studio. You play a vampire navigating a morally complex world where every choice has weight. One of the more anticipated new IPs of the second half of 2026.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 — TBC 2026
