  • Evolve Tinkatuff into Tinkaton during the event, or up to four hours after it ends, to get the exclusive Charged Attack Gigaton Hammer.

  • A paid Special Research called A Ton of Tinkatink is available for $1.99 USD, with Special Background Tinkatink encounters as rewards.
  • For a perfect Hundo, look for 737 CP at Level 30 or 799 CP if weather-boosted at Level 35.

Tinkatink is having its moment in the spotlight. The Gen 9 Fairy/Steel-type known for lugging around an oversized hammer — a hammer it apparently uses to batter Corviknight out of the sky, for the lore enthusiasts — is the featured Pokémon for Pokémon Go’s April 2026 Community Day, and this one is genuinely worth clearing your Saturday afternoon for.

The event runs from 2pm to 5pm local time on Saturday 11th April 2026, with several bonuses extending right through to 9pm. Here’s everything you need to know before heading out.

How to Find a Shiny Tinkatink

Good news: shiny Tinkatink makes its Pokémon Go debut as part of April’s Community Day, so this is your first and best shot at grabbing one. Community Days reliably push shiny odds up to roughly 1 in 20, meaning you’ll likely see one pop up without too much effort as long as you’re clicking on enough Tinkatink throughout the event.

Activate your Incense right at 2pm and let it run for the full three hours — it’s the simplest way to boost the number of Tinkatink you’re seeing and stack up your shiny encounters. Lures also work from 2pm all the way through to 9pm, so PokéStop-heavy areas stay useful well after main event hours end.

When checking your catches, look out for the telltale sparkle animation and the shiny icon next to the Pokémon’s name. It’s easy to tap past one in a rush, so slow down and check.

As for what a shiny Tinkatink actually looks like — brace yourself for underwhelming. The only visible change across the entire evolution line is the colour of Tinkatink’s hammer, which shifts from grey to bronze. That’s it. The change carries through to Tinkatuff and Tinkaton, but there’s no dramatic palette swap to get excited about. Still, a shiny is a shiny, and this is your window to get it.

Perfect IV CPs to Look For

If you’re hunting a Hundo (a 100% perfect IV Tinkatink with 15/15/15 stats), these are the CP values to keep an eye on during the event:

  • Level 30 (wild CP maximum): 737 CP
  • Level 35 (weather-boosted wild CP maximum): 799 CP

Tinkatink is boosted by Cloudy and Snow weather, so if either of those are active in your area, you may encounter the higher-level 799 CP Hundo variant. These figures apply if you’re Trainer Level 30 or above, which covers the vast majority of active players. If you’re below Level 30, your wild CP cap will be lower.

One extra note: if you catch a Tinkatink as a reward from a Field Research task, a perfect Hundo will show as 368 CP — so don’t discard that one assuming it’s weak.

A perfect Tinkaton matters most for your 4-star Pokédex entry, and for PvP where bulk and IV spreads interact differently depending on the league (more on that below).

How to Get Tinkaton With Gigaton Hammer

This is the main event. Evolve Tinkatuff into Tinkaton any time during the event window or up to four hours after it closes — so you have until 9pm local time — and your Tinkaton will automatically learn Gigaton Hammer as its Charged Attack.

Here’s how the evolution costs break down:

  • Tinkatink → Tinkatuff: 25 Candy
  • Tinkatuff → Tinkaton: 100 Candy

You’ll need 125 Candy total for a full evolution. With 2x Catch Candy running throughout the event, plus Pinap Berries stacking on top of that, farming enough Candy for multiple evolutions is very achievable during three hours of boosted spawns. Aim for at least two or three Tinkaton if you can — one for each PvP league you want to use it in.

Why Gigaton Hammer Actually Matters

Gigaton Hammer isn’t just a nice novelty — it’s a legitimately strong move, and the reason competitive players should pay close attention to this Community Day.

In terms of raw stats, it sits alongside Precipice Blades and Origin Pulse, two of the most powerful Charged Moves in the game, both of which are exclusive to Legendaries. Gigaton Hammer costs 60 energy and deals 130 damage with no drawbacks whatsoever — no self-debuffs, no conditions. Every other Charged Move that deals 130 or more damage costs more energy to fire off.

In Great League, Tinkaton with Gigaton Hammer becomes a significantly broader threat than it was before. It beats everything that Flash Cannon can handle, while also adding wins against Medicham, Lickilicky, Shadow Feraligatr, Shadow Scizor, and Clodsire — matchups that Tinkaton’s previous moveset couldn’t manage. Tinkaton is already the third bulkiest Fairy-type in Great League, behind only Carbink and Azumarill, and Gigaton Hammer makes that bulk even harder to play around.

In Ultra League, Tinkaton becomes arguably even more dangerous. It can reach 2500 CP — unlike Klefki, which tops out at 2204, or Mawile, which barely crosses 1850 — and with Gigaton Hammer in the mix, it starts claiming wins against threats like Corviknight, Feraligatr, and Virizion that it previously couldn’t handle. The game’s lore of Tinkaton bringing down Corviknight with its hammer? That actually plays out in the 0-0 shield scenario.

For both leagues, pair Gigaton Hammer with Fairy Wind as your Fast Move, and consider Bulldoze as a second Charged Move for Ground-type coverage against Fire and Steel types that resist your other options.

Tinkaton doesn’t have the Attack stat to compete in Master League, so don’t worry about building for that format.

Special Research: A Ton of Tinkatink

A paid Community Day Special Research called A Ton of Tinkatink is available for $1.99 USD (or the regional equivalent). It rewards three Tinkatink encounters with Special Backgrounds, a Premium Battle Pass, a Rare Candy XL, and additional Stardust. Tickets can be purchased in-game or through the Pokémon Go Web Store, and you can also gift tickets to friends at Great Friend level or higher.

There’s also a Community Day Ultra Box available for $1.99 USD that bundles the event ticket with five Ultra Balls — worth picking up if you’re planning to stock up anyway.

Community Day-themed Field Research tasks will be available at PokéStops throughout the event, rewarding Stardust, Ultra Balls, additional Tinkatink encounters, and the chance at a Tinkatink with a Special Background. Spin as many stops as you can during the three hours.

Quick Tips Before You Head Out

A few things worth keeping in mind to get the most out of the event:

Start your Incense at exactly 2pm so it runs for the full three hours. Use Pinap Berries throughout — with 2x Catch Candy already active, every Pinap nets you a big Candy haul per catch. Mega Evolve a Fairy or Steel-type Pokémon before the event starts to earn bonus Candy on every Tinkatink you catch. Stock up on Poké Balls beforehand by spinning stops — Field Research tasks during the event will hand you Ultra Balls, but you’ll want to start with a solid supply.

Finally, if you want to find other players in your area, the Campfire app is worth checking — it shows local community meetups and Community Day events near you.

Happy hunting, trainers. May your hammers be bronze and your IVs be perfect.
