As you explore the Rhodes Hill Care Center in Resident Evil Requiem, you will notice several doors with a glowing blue digital lock displaying the number “1.” These Level 1 Security Point doors cannot be opened until you find the ID Wristband (Level 1), which is a key item required to progress through large sections of both the East Wing and the West Wing.

Getting the wristband is not complicated, but it does come with a dangerous surprise — the moment you pick it up, a massive creature called the Chunk will appear and start chasing you. Below is a full step-by-step walkthrough on how to reach the Level 1 ID Wristband, how to survive the Chunk encounter, and every Level 1 door location along with what is behind each one.

How to Get the Level 1 ID Wristband in Resident Evil Requiem

Follow these steps to reach the ID Wristband (Level 1):

Step 1: Get the East Wing Keycard

Before you can access the East Wing, you need the East Wing Keycard. Here is how to get it:

  1. Head to the 2nd floor of the West Wing and enter the Chairman’s Office.
  2. Find the Unicorn Trinket Box on a table. Examine it and shake it to reveal the Red Jewel. If you need help with this, check our Chairman’s Office puzzle box guide.
  3. Return to the 1st floor hallway past the Central Hall and place the Red Jewel in the door indentation to open the Parlor.
  4. Inside the Parlor, check the severed arm on the table to grab the East Wing Keycard.

Use the keycard at the locked door in the Central Hall to unlock the East Wing.

Step 2: Navigate the East Wing to the 2nd Floor

Once inside the East Wing:

  1. Make your way through the Examination Room on the ground floor. You will spot a safe inside a cabinet here — you can open it now or later using the Examination Room safe code.
  2. Head north from the Examination Room and follow the corridor south to find stairs leading up to the 2nd floor.
  3. Before going further, enter the Lead Researcher’s Office to save your game at the typewriter. This room also contains a puzzle box and several important files, so it is worth exploring fully before proceeding.

Step 3: Pick Up the Wristband

When you are ready:

  1. Exit the Lead Researcher’s Office and turn left down the corridor.
  2. You will see a headless corpse slumped on the ground in the hallway, with a blue glow on its wrist.
  3. Make sure you have a free inventory slot before interacting with the body.
  4. Interact with the corpse to pick up the ID Wristband (Level 1).

Warning: The moment you grab the wristband, a gigantic enemy called the Chunk will burst through a nearby wall and begin chasing you. Be prepared to run immediately.

How to Survive the Chunk Boss After Getting the Wristband

The Chunk is a large, aggressive enemy that will pursue Grace through the East Wing hallways. Here is how to handle the encounter:

  • Run downstairs immediately. The safest option is to retreat back down the stairs toward the Examination Room or the East Wing Lobby. The Chunk will not follow you into certain areas, giving you breathing room.
  • Do not try to fight it unprepared. On Casual difficulty, the Chunk takes roughly 1 Requiem headshot plus 15 S&S M232 headshots to kill, or 3 Requiem headshots. If you do not have enough ammo, skip the fight for now.
  • Killing the Chunk is optional but rewarding. Defeating the Chunk drops the Eye Spy Charm and unlocks the “Grace and Goliath” trophy/achievement. You can always come back for this fight later once you have more ammunition.
  • The Chunk patrols the area. If you run away, the Chunk will roam the 2nd floor hallways and may appear near the Blood Lab or other corridors depending on your progress. Keep this in mind when backtracking.

All Level 1 Security Point Door Locations

The ID Wristband (Level 1) unlocks several doors across both wings of the Care Center. Here is every Level 1 door and what you will find behind each one:

East Wing — Waiting Room Closet

Location: West side of the Waiting Room, ground floor.

What’s inside: Handgun Bullets, Scraps, a bullet for the Requiem, and the Blood Specimen (Converged) — a crafting material that lets you make 12.7x55mm Requiem ammo.

East Wing — Blood Lab File Room

Location: Accessible from the Blood Lab on the ground floor of the East Wing.

What’s inside: Green Herb, Scrap, an Empty Injector, and the Blood Specimen (Reversible) — used to craft both Stabilizers and Steroids.

Tip: It is recommended to visit the Examination Room before heading to the Blood Lab, as the Chunk may be patrolling the nearby hallway.

West Wing — Corridor Past the Parlor (Leads to Custodian’s Office & Garage)

Location: In the West Wing, past the Parlor and Kitchen area. Instead of entering the Kitchen, continue down the hallway to find the Level 1 Security gate.

What’s inside: This is the most important Level 1 door in the game. It opens up an entirely new section of the Care Center, including:

  • Custodian’s Office — A save room with a typewriter and item box. You will also find the Wrench here, which is needed to open the Cold Storage door.
  • Garage — Contains the Organ Transport Box, a key story item. Be ready to deal with an infected driving a vehicle when you approach it.
  • Stairs to the 2nd Floor Office — Leads to the Office area where you can find the Bar & Lounge safe code file and several other collectible files.

West Wing — Filing Room Closet

Location: Attached to the Filing Room on the ground floor of the West Wing.

What’s inside: An inventory upgrade pouch (Hip Pouch), which gives Grace 2 additional inventory slots. This is one of the most valuable items you can get early in the game — do not skip it.

  2. Check the Blood Lab file room for the Empty Injector and Blood Specimen.
  3. Head to the West Wing and open the Level 1 gate past the Parlor.

Once you have both the Artificial Heart and Artificial Lungs, you can return to the Examination Room to insert them into the corpse. This will reanimate the body, and after it collapses, you can collect the ID Wristband (Level 2) — the next security clearance level.
