What Is the Alpha Tango Delta Victor Puzzle?

While exploring the Iron Forest near the Kurin base in Stalker 2: Cost of Hope, you will hear a radio voice repeating the words: “Alpha, Tango, Delta, Victor.” These are NATO phonetic alphabet call signs — the kind used for radio communication to spell out letters clearly.

The transmission is coming from a ruined building just left of the Kurin base. A stalker named Murky was inside, broadcasting the signal on loop before something went wrong. Following the broadcast leads you to the building, through a vent system, into a server room, and eventually to a blue safe locked with a four-digit keypad. The words in the transmission are the clue to that code.

This puzzle is completely optional. It has no mission marker and no quest attached to it. It is easy to miss entirely if you do not pay attention to the radio. But the loot inside is worth the detour.

Where Is the Alpha Tango Delta Victor Building?

The building is located directly to the left of the Kurin base in the Iron Forest. It is a ruined structure sitting right next to the Freedom faction’s main camp. The best part: no key is needed to get in. The front door is accessible without any item or keycard.

You will know you are near the right building when you hear the radio voice. If you are already inside the Kurin base, step outside and look to the left — the building is right there.

How to Get to the Safe — Step by Step

Step 1 — Enter the Building and Go Downstairs

Walk through the front door and descend the ruined stairs into the basement level. At the bottom you will enter a dark corridor. Do not go off to the sides — head straight toward the white door at the end of the corridor.

Step 2 — Turn Right and Go Up the Stairs

At the white door, turn right. You will see another flight of stairs heading up. Climb them to reach a higher floor inside the building.

Step 3 — Enter the Ventilation Duct

At the top of the stairs, you will see an open ventilation duct in the wall. Climb into it.

Inside the vent, you have two directions:

• Go left → drops you into the main server room where the safe and Murky’s body are. This is the route you want for the Alpha Tango Delta Victor safe.
• Go right → drops you into a separate room with a smaller blue safe that requires a physical key, not a code. The Old Key for that safe is found in the bathroom at the far end of the hallway on the basement level.

Go left in the vent.

Step 4 — Deal With the Rats

The moment you drop into the server room, a swarm of rat mutants will jump you. They come fast and in large numbers. Before you climb into the vent, save your game. Have a grenade ready to throw into the room as you drop — it will thin the rats before you land. A shotgun also works well in the tight space.

Step 5 — Read Murky’s PDA

Once the rats are cleared, look for the dead body at the far end of the server room. This is Murky — the stalker who was transmitting the radio signal. He is slumped next to the blue safe. How to Solve the Alpha Tango Delta Victor Puzzle

The code is hidden in the server room itself. Each NATO call sign — Alpha, Tango, Delta, Victor — stands for a letter: A, T, D, V. The server racks around the room are labeled with those same letters, and each one has a number next to it.

Here are the server rack values you need:

• Alpha (A) = 9 — the A9 rack is found directly in front of the safe and keypad. Another A9 rack appears elsewhere in the room.
• Tango (T) = 5 — the T5 rack is located southwest of the safe, near the staircase leading out of the basement.
• Delta (D) = 2 — the D2 rack is among the server racks southwest of the keypad.
• Victor (V) = 7 — the V7 label is found on the ground beside a server rack near the center of the room.

Now read the numbers in the order the radio gives you — Alpha, Tango, Delta, Victor — which gives you: 9, 5, 2, 7.

What Is Inside the Alpha Tango Delta Victor Safe?

Opening the safe with the code 9527 gives you the following loot:

• GP37 Assault Rifle — a solid mid-game weapon, useful in the Iron Forest and beyond
• Chocolate Bar Artifact — a valuable artifact worth picking up
• Memory Card — worth 1,500 Coupons when sold
• Additional ammunition and supplies — ammo and other standard items

The GP37 and the Chocolate Bar artifact together make this one of the better optional safes in the Iron Forest. The 1,500 Coupon memory card is also a nice bonus on top.

The Second Safe — Small Blue Safe in the Right Vent Room

If you took the right path in the ventilation duct, you dropped into a separate room with a smaller blue safe. This one does not use a code — it uses a physical key called the Old Key.

To get the Old Key, go to the basement bathroom at the far end of the hallway on the lower floor of the building. The key is inside. Return to the small safe room and use it to unlock the second cache for additional loot.

Both safes are in the same building, so there is no reason not to grab both while you are there.

Tips for the Alpha Tango Delta Victor Puzzle

• Save before you climb into the vent. The rats in the server room spawn all at once. If you go in blind and get overwhelmed, you will lose progress.
• Throw a grenade left into the server room before dropping in. It clears most of the rats before you land and saves you a lot of health.
• Go left in the vent first for the main safe, then come back and go right for the smaller safe. Both directions are worth checking.
• Read the call signs in order. The radio says Alpha, Tango, Delta, Victor — in that order. Match the letters to the rack numbers in that same order. Rearranging them gives the wrong code.
• The code never changes. You can enter 9527 at any point without reading a single clue and it will work. Come back to it any time.
• Do not forget the Old Key in the bathroom for the smaller second safe. It is on the same floor and adds more loot for very little extra effort.
