Star Wars: Hunters is Shutting Down in October 2025
Well, it’s official—Star Wars: Hunters is shutting down. The game will go offline on October 1, 2025, with its final updates dropping in April. While it had its fans, it seems like it wasn’t quite the hit that Zynga and LucasFilm were hoping for. Some players are disappointed, while others are looking ahead to future Star Wars games to fill the gap.

A Short but Bumpy Ride
First announced in 2021, Star Wars: Hunters had a pretty rough journey. It went through multiple delays to improve quality and was pitched as a long-term live-service game—something that could entertain players for years, kind of like Overwatch. Despite mixed reviews, it seemed to have a solid foundation to build on.
Now, though, Zynga has confirmed the game is shutting down. On April 15, in-app purchases will be turned off, and players will have a chance to max out their Arena Passes before the servers officially go dark in October.

What Happened?
From the outside, there weren’t many signs that Star Wars: Hunters was struggling. But in reality, it was up against some of the toughest competition in live-service gaming. With so many other options out there, the game just didn’t take off the way it needed to.
The announcement comes as a 30-day notice, giving players some time to enjoy what’s left. The game originally launched on June 4, 2024, and later got Early Access on PC in January 2025. It was even set to hit Steam, but its store page has mysteriously vanished.
What’s Left Before the Shutdown?
If you’re still playing, you’ll have a little more time to enjoy the game.
- Season 5 is getting a 3-week extension
- Events and shop bundles will be re-run
- Ranked mode is also being extended
- Final content update arrives April 15, featuring a new Support Hunter, Tuya, available to all players
Even though some fans thought the game had potential, it’s now joining the growing list of live-service games that didn’t make it, like Concord and XDefiant. Once October 1 hits, the servers will go offline for good, and Star Wars: Hunters will be unplayable.
For now, players can enjoy the last few months, but it’s clear that Star Wars: Hunters just wasn’t able to survive in the ultra-competitive live-service world.
