System Shock 2 Remaster is Coming to Nintendo Switch!
Great news for System Shock 2 fans—Nightdive Studios just announced that the long-awaited remaster is finally on the way! And for the first time ever, the game is coming to Nintendo Switch. Yep, System Shock 2 is making its Nintendo debut!
Oh, and one more thing—it’s got a new name. What was originally called System Shock 2: Enhanced Edition will now be known as System Shock 2: 25th Anniversary Remaster. Fancy name, huh?
🕹️ Why the New Name?
This remaster was first teased way back in 2019 to celebrate the game’s 20th anniversary. At the time, Nightdive said it was coming “soon”… but let’s be real, six years isn’t exactly soon. 😂
Now, in February 2025, the devs finally dropped some big updates:
✅ New title – Now called System Shock 2: 25th Anniversary Remaster
✅ More platforms – It’s coming to Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC
✅ Switch 2 Compatibility – So if you’re planning to upgrade, you’re all set!

📅 When’s It Coming Out?
We don’t have an exact release date just yet, but Nightdive Studios will announce it on March 20, 2025, during the Future Game Show at GDC 2025.
So, yeah, we’ll finally know when we can play this classic again! The only weird part? By the time it launches, it’ll probably be closer to the game’s 26th anniversary instead of the 25th. Oh well.

🎮 Why Did It Take So Long?
Good question! Nightdive hasn’t given a straight answer, but here’s what we do know:
- They’ve been swamped – The studio put out five remasters in 2024 alone.
- Small team vibes – Nightdive has around 40 employees as of 2025.
- Game development takes time – Especially when modernizing an older game.
The upside? Nightdive makes killer remasters, so this long wait might actually mean a better, more polished game.

Still no word on pricing, but System Shock 2: 25th Anniversary Remaster is coming to:
