All Blade Locations In Resonance A Plague Tale Legacy (Plunderer Trophy)

    By Lilly Daniels · August 30, 2026 · 16 min read
    Rusty Sword

    TL;DR – Quick Summary

    • There are 8 blades in the base game. A 9th pre-order bonus blade (Hero’s Blade) exists but does not count toward the Plunderer trophy.
    • Blades 1 and 2 (Rusty Sword and Falchion) are automatic story unlocks — no searching needed.
    • Blades 3 through 8 are found in Heroes’ Graves — hidden crypts unlocked by solving bull pillar light puzzles off the main path.
    • All blades are found in Chapters 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 7, 9, and 10. Chapters 3, 8, 11, 12, 13, and 14 have none.
    • None are missable — every blade can be collected via Chapter Select after finishing the story.
    • You also need the Adaptable trophy — kill at least one enemy with each blade. Do this the moment you equip each new one.
    • The Broken Spear in Chapter 9 is unique — its tomb is already open with no puzzle required. Just enter and collect.
    • The Xiphos in Chapter 10 has a hidden gem under a vase — smash all vases first before attempting the light alignment or the puzzle cannot be completed.

Collecting all blade locations in Resonance A Plague Tale Legacy is required for both the Plunderer trophy (collect all blades) and the Adaptable trophy (kill at least one enemy with each blade). Six of the eight blades are hidden in secret Heroes’ Graves — underground crypts locked behind bull pillar light alignment puzzles positioned well off the main story path. This guide covers every blade in chapter order with exact locations, navigation directions, and full bull pillar puzzle solutions so you don’t miss a single one. If you’re also tracking the second symbol route in Chapter 5 where the Greek Sword is found, our second symbol guide for Chapter 5 covers that full detour in detail.

    How Heroes’ Graves Work

Six of the eight blades are locked inside Heroes’ Graves — hidden underground crypts reached via a bull pillar mechanism. Each one works the same way:

    • Find the bull pillar — a large carved stone pillar with three coloured gems (red, green, blue) on its face. It’s always off the main path in a dead-end area or hidden camp.
    • Find the lit floor plate nearby — stand on it and hold R1/RB to raise the sphere in Light Splitting mode.
    • Rotate each coloured beam (using face buttons to rotate, D-pad to switch between beams) until each one aligns with the matching coloured gem on the bull pillar.
    • When all three gems light up simultaneously, the axe symbol carved into the floor opens — revealing a staircase into the crypt below.
    • Drop down the stairs and open the large chest to receive the blade.

No two bull pillar puzzles are identical in terms of where the floor plate is positioned — always look for the circular stone floor plate with an eye or axe symbol near the pillar to find the correct standing position. The platform you need is never on the same level as the pillar gems themselves.

    Blade 1 – Rusty Sword (Chapter 1)

    Rusty Sword

    Chapter: 1 – Blood Ties
How to get it: Automatic story unlock. Sophia receives it during her Chapter 1 combat training with Ezra at the start of the game. It is counted in the blade tracker from the moment the chapter begins. No action needed.

Ability: None. The Rusty Sword is the bare starter weapon — standard stats, no passive technique.

Tip: Get your Adaptable kill with this blade in Chapter 1 during the training sequence or the Fighting Pit finale. Don’t waste time returning for it later.

    Blade 2 – Falchion (Chapter 2)

    Falchion Heros Blade
    Falchion Heros Blade

    Chapter: 2 – Felons
    Sub-Chapter: 2 – The Carnival
How to get it: Automatic story unlock. After stowing weapons at the barrel before entering the carnival, Sophia recovers them from the boat near the church after the carnival section ends. When she interacts with the barrel by the boat, the Falchion is awarded automatically as a story reward. If you have the Heritage Pack pre-order DLC, the Hero’s Blade also unlocks here at the same moment — but that blade does not count toward Plunderer and has the same ability as the Falchion.

Ability: Wider Dodge Window. Extends the invincibility frames on Sophia’s dodge roll, making dodges slightly more forgiving on timing.

Tip: Switch to the Falchion and get one enemy kill in the next combat encounter before moving on. The Chapter 2 enemies after the carnival are perfect for this.

    Blade 3 – Kopis (Chapter 4)

Chapter: 4 – From Hell It Rose
    Sub-Chapter: 3 – Puzzles and Traps
Objective when found: Progress through the Trial

How to get it: This is the first Heroes’ Grave blade and it is almost impossible to miss — it sits directly on the critical path rather than in an optional detour. After working through the full spike trap sequence in Chapter 4 (including the large room where Leni shines a mirror to show you the safe path) and escaping the falling ceiling spikes section, you’ll squeeze through a gap. On the other side, look for a pedestal with an axe symbol. Interact with it to open the tomb entrance in the floor. Drop down and open the large chest inside to receive the Kopis.

No bull pillar puzzle required. The Kopis tomb opens via a simple pedestal interaction — there is no three-colour beam alignment needed. It’s the only Heroes’ Grave blade that works this way.

Ability: Stagger Blow. The final hit of Sophia’s normal attack combo inflicts a powerful stun blow that deals bonus damage to the enemy’s Stun Bar. Pairs naturally with the Aegean Deflect skill.

    Blade 4 – Greek Sword (Chapter 5)

Chapter: 5 – Desolation It Wrought
    Sub-Chapter: 3 – The Four Symbols
Objective when found: Find the second symbol

How to get it: This blade is in the optional detour before the second symbol trial — the abandoned camp area reached via the “O with 3 lines” gate from the Central Temple. The route is as follows.

From the Central Temple’s four-pedestal room, take the exit with the “O with 3 lines” icon above it. Cross the bridge, go left, and drop down the cliff to a soldier camp. Defeat the enemies. Do not go through the big green gate at the top of the camp. Instead, go in the opposite direction to find an abandoned camp with a large bull pillar. Climb the rocks or ledges on the left side of this area to reach the top of the ruins. Four greenish floor plates are visible on the pillars above.

Stand on the floor plate at the far end of the left pillar (the one near a bird’s nest and Resonance Point). Raise the sphere in Light Splitting mode and align the three coloured beams with the bull pillar gems below.

    Solution:

    • Red beam → Left gem on the bull pillar
    • Green beam → Middle gem on the bull pillar
    • Blue beam → Right gem on the bull pillar

When all three gems light up, the axe symbol opens in the camp floor below. Drop down the revealed stairs and open the chest inside to receive the Greek Sword.

Ability: Spinning Slash. Sophia’s critical strike is completely replaced by a wide circular sweep that damages all nearby enemies simultaneously. Excellent for group fights — the most impactful ability change of any blade in the game.

    Blade 5 – Sica (Chapter 6)

Chapter: 6 – What Lies Beneath
    Sub-Chapter: 5 – The Architect
Objective when found: Follow Daedalus’ Shortcut

How to get it: After the cutscene where Sophia approaches a petrified person near a cliff and unlocks Daedalus’s Key, use the key to open the first green gate in the next corridor. You’ll reach a dark corridor — this is the story path. Instead of following the story path forward, turn left through a small tunnel. This leads to an optional puzzle chamber with a bull pillar and lit platforms.

Three lit platforms are visible. Jump onto the first lit platform on the left. Raise the sphere in Light Splitting mode and align the beams.

    Solution:

    • Green beam → Below the bull pillar (aimed at the gem on the lower face)
    • Blue beam → Below the platform you’re standing on
    • Red beam → The pillar at the back-right of the room — the light reflects off a mirror behind it back toward the bull pillar’s third gem

When all three gems light up, the axe symbol opens a staircase. Go down and open the chest to receive the Sica.

Ability: Focus Rush. Every enemy killed with the Sica equipped adds to Sophia’s Focus Gauge. Chain kills to build Focus fast and use Focus Attacks more frequently than with any other blade.

    Blade 6 – Khopesh (Chapter 7)

Chapter: 7 – Death It Sowed
    Sub-Chapter: 2 – The Whole Damn Army
Objective when found: Reach the Black Temple

How to get it: After navigating a dark underground section in the sub-chapter, you emerge into a large open area with broken pillar stumps scattered across it and a skull head on the ground. From the exit of the underground section, go to the other side of the area from the story path. A bull pillar is visible near the large skull head on the ground.

Look for the metal circle in the ground near the skull head — this is the floor plate. Stand on it. Raise the sphere in Light Splitting mode and align the three beams with the bull pillar gems.

    Solution:

    • Align all three coloured beams with their matching gems on the bull pillar. The skull head area gives you a clear line of sight to all three. Rotate each beam until all three gems are simultaneously lit.

The axe symbol opens a crypt in front of the pedestal. Drop down and open the chest to receive the Khopesh.

Ability: Deep Bleed. The final hit of Sophia’s normal attack combo inflicts a bleeding wound that deals ongoing damage over time. Against durable enemies like Brutes and bosses who take many hits to stagger, the ticking DoT adds meaningful free damage across long fights.

    Blade 7 – Broken Spear (Chapter 9)

Chapter: 9 – Night Has Come
    Sub-Chapter: 4 – Hunted
Objective when found: Follow the Lights to the Palace

How to get it: This is the only Heroes’ Grave blade with no bull pillar puzzle. The tomb is already open. At the very start of Sub-Chapter 4, a man runs toward Sophia and is immediately grabbed and killed by the creature. The moment you regain control, immediately turn left and take the leftmost path. Do not follow the story path forward — the creature’s appearance creates urgency but this detour is safe. Climb up the ledge on the left. The Heroes’ Grave entrance is right there — two lanterns flank the entrance to protect you as you approach. Walk in and open the chest. The Broken Spear is inside with no puzzle required.

Ability: Shield Pierce. Sophia’s sprint attack (hold sprint then attack) passes through enemy guards and shields completely, dealing full damage regardless of whether the target is blocking. This is the most situationally powerful blade in the game during Chapters 9 through 13 when shielded soldiers become the dominant enemy type.

Warning: This is the most time-sensitive blade in the game to find. The creature appears and tension is high — many players sprint away from the creature and miss the left turn entirely. The moment you see the man get grabbed, stop, turn left, and climb before continuing.

    Blade 8 – Xiphos (Chapter 10)

    Chapter: 10 – Parallel Paths
    Sub-Chapter: 2 – In the Plunderers’ Wake
Objective when found: Find a Way Inside the Mountain

How to get it: From the start of Sub-Chapter 2, go to the far right corner of the area. Find a cave opening there. Go through the cave — at the far end, use the Grapnel to climb up. At the top is another bull pillar area. This is the final Heroes’ Grave in the game.

Critical step before the puzzle: destroy all vases in the area. One of the vases is concealing the blue gem needed for the light alignment. If you don’t break it, the blue beam has no visible target and the puzzle appears unsolvable. Smash every vase you can see before touching the pedestal.

Once the vases are cleared, use the pedestal in front of the bull statue to activate the light platforms. Get onto the light platform in the right corner. Raise the sphere in Light Splitting mode and align the beams.

    Solution:

    • Red beam → Left gem
    • Green beam → Middle gem
    • Blue beam → Right gem (the one that was hidden under the vase)

When all three gems light up, the crypt opens in front of the pedestal. Drop down and open the chest to receive the Xiphos. Collecting the Xiphos completes the full set of 8 blades and unlocks the Plunderer trophy/achievement.

Ability: Parry Break. Every successful parry deals dramatically increased Stun Bar damage — enemies can stagger after a single parry chain. The trade-off is significant: Sophia loses the ability to block entirely while the Xiphos is equipped. Only timed parries protect her. The highest-ceiling blade in the game for experienced players who have mastered parry timing.

    Plunderer and Adaptable Trophy Tips

Collecting all 8 blades unlocks Plunderer. Getting at least one enemy kill with every blade unlocks Adaptable. Both trophies are closely linked and the most efficient way to earn both is to manage them together during your playthrough.

    • Switch to each new blade immediately when you collect it and get one kill before moving on. The next combat encounter after any Heroes’ Grave is the perfect opportunity. Don’t continue to the next chapter with an untested blade — it creates cleanup work later.
    • If Adaptable doesn’t unlock after getting kills with all 8: Check whether you have the Heritage Pack DLC installed. The Hero’s Blade (the 9th DLC blade) can sometimes interfere with the trophy trigger. Try uninstalling the Heritage Pack from your console’s game content management, then repeat a kill with the blade most recently tested.
    • None of the blades are missable via Chapter Select. If you finish the story without collecting the Greek Sword, Sica, Khopesh, Broken Spear, or Xiphos, simply use Chapter Select to return to the relevant chapter and collect them. After collecting a missed blade in Chapter Select, you can quit to the main menu immediately — it will save to your profile without needing to complete the full chapter again.
    • Track your progress in the Sophia menu (pause → Sophia → Blades). Every blade has a named entry in the tracker. If one is missing by name, it’s simple to identify which chapter to revisit.
    • The Broken Spear’s window is the tightest of any blade — not because it’s missable, but because the creature appearance creates urgency that distracts players into sprinting past the left turn. Make a conscious note before Chapter 9 Sub-Chapter 4 begins: when the man gets grabbed, turn left first.

    Frequently Asked Questions

How many blades are in Resonance A Plague Tale Legacy?

There are 8 blades in the base game. A 9th blade called the Hero’s Blade is available as part of the Heritage Pack pre-order DLC, but it shares its ability with the Falchion and does not count toward the Plunderer trophy. Blades 1 and 2 (Rusty Sword and Falchion) are automatic story unlocks. The remaining 6 are hidden in Heroes’ Graves — underground crypts unlocked by solving bull pillar light alignment puzzles positioned off the main path in Chapters 4, 5, 6, 7, 9, and 10.

Are any blades missable in Resonance A Plague Tale Legacy?

No. All 8 blades remain available after the story ends through Chapter Select. When you collect a missed blade in Chapter Select, you can quit to the main menu immediately after picking it up — it saves to your profile without needing to finish the chapter again. The only blade that feels time-pressured is the Broken Spear in Chapter 9, because the creature appears dramatically at the start of that sub-chapter — but it is simply a navigational challenge, not a permanent miss. Turn left the moment the man gets grabbed and it’s yours.

What is the Xiphos bull pillar puzzle solution in Chapter 10?

Before solving the Xiphos bull pillar puzzle, you must smash all vases in the area — one of them is concealing the blue gem needed for the light alignment. With the blue gem exposed, use the pedestal in front of the bull statue to activate the light platforms. Stand on the lit platform in the right corner and align the beams: Red to the left gem, Green to the middle gem, and Blue to the right gem (the one that was under the vase). When all three gems are simultaneously lit, the crypt opens in front of the pedestal. Drop down and collect the Xiphos from the chest.

What is the difference between the Plunderer and Adaptable trophies in Resonance A Plague Tale Legacy?

Plunderer requires collecting all 8 base game blades — it unlocks the moment you pick up the 8th blade (the Xiphos in Chapter 10). Adaptable requires getting at least one enemy kill with every blade in your collection. It does not require collecting the blades in any particular order, but it does require switching to each blade and actively killing an enemy with it. The most efficient approach is to switch to each new blade immediately after collecting it and get one kill in the next combat encounter before moving on. If Adaptable fails to unlock after confirmed kills with all 8, try uninstalling the Heritage Pack DLC as the 9th bonus blade can occasionally interfere with the trigger on some platforms.
