Discover where to find Prickly Pear in Arc Raiders, the best farming locations on Dam Battleground and Buried City, and how to use this stamina-boosting resource effectively.
In Arc Raiders, stamina management can literally mean the difference between escaping a dangerous encounter and becoming someone else’s loot. Whether you’re being chased by hostile raiders or fleeing from an aggressive ARC machine, running out of stamina at the wrong moment is a death sentence.
This is where Prickly Pear becomes invaluable. It’s not just another forageable resource cluttering your inventory—it’s a tactical survival tool that provides immediate stamina boosts when you need them most. Plus, it has multiple uses beyond emergency consumption, making it worth collecting whenever you spot it.
The best part? Prickly Pear is relatively abundant on both starting maps, so once you know where to look, keeping a stock of this desert fruit becomes second nature.
Before we dive into locations, let’s clarify how harvesting works because it’s a bit different from other forageable items.

Important mechanics to know:
This means you’ll need to visually scan the ground near each cactus plant rather than simply interacting with the plant itself. Look for the telltale loot indicator showing an item is available for pickup.
The Dam Battleground map has decent Prickly Pear distribution, though availability varies from raid to raid. The cacti are there, but whether they’re bearing fruit is randomized.
Best spot: South of Research & Administration Building ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
This is your most reliable farming location on the Dam map. The area south of the Research & Administration building has multiple cactus plants in close proximity, and the building itself is packed with high-value loot anyway.
Why this location works:
The beauty of this spot is that even if the Prickly Pears aren’t spawning, you’re right next to Research & Administration, which justifies the trip regardless.
The Buried City map is essentially cactus central. The entire outskirts are dotted with Prickly Pear plants, giving you numerous opportunities to harvest the fruit.
Best spot: Dune’s End (Northeast Corner) ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
If you need Prickly Pear and want the highest probability of success, Dune’s End is your destination. The northeast corner of Buried City has excellent cactus density with strong spawn rates.
Strategic considerations:
The trade-off is that it’s somewhat remote from extraction points, so plan your route accordingly. Don’t get caught in the far corner with no safe extraction path back.
Scan thoroughly around each plant. The fruit drops on the ground near the cactus, not on it. It’s easy to run past a plant thinking “no fruit here” when there’s actually a Prickly Pear sitting two feet away.
Check during your normal looting routes. Don’t make dedicated Prickly Pear farming runs—that’s inefficient. Instead, incorporate cactus-heavy areas into your standard loot paths so you’re gathering multiple resources simultaneously.
Harvest everything you see. Even if you don’t need Prickly Pear immediately, grab it anyway. It’s 200 XP toward your leveling progression, takes minimal inventory space, and has multiple valuable uses.
Revisit previously farmed areas. Since loot respawns between raids, areas you’ve cleared before can yield new Prickly Pear on your next run. Don’t assume a location is “farmed out.”

Prickly Pear has surprising versatility, making it worth stockpiling rather than using immediately. Here’s the breakdown:
Pop a Prickly Pear during combat or chase situations for an instant temporary stamina increase. This is clutch when:
Think of it as your emergency escape button. I always keep at least two in my quick-access slots for exactly these moments.
Combine Prickly Pear with other ingredients to create Fruit Mix, which provides both health AND stamina boosts. This is significantly more valuable than consuming Prickly Pear alone.
The crafting investment pays off during high-stakes situations where you need comprehensive restoration rather than just a stamina bump. If you have time to craft before raids, prioritize making Fruit Mixes over hoarding raw Prickly Pears.
Scrappy the Rooster is your loot-collecting companion back at base, and certain training upgrades require Prickly Pear as a component. These are one-time investments that permanently increase your post-raid rewards.
This is arguably the best long-term use of Prickly Pear. The passive rewards from an upgraded Scrappy accumulate over dozens of raids, providing far more value than consuming the fruit for temporary buffs.
My recommendation: Save your first few Prickly Pears for Scrappy upgrades, then use extras for immediate consumption or crafting.
If you’re swimming in Prickly Pear and don’t need them for other purposes, salvaging yields three Assorted Seeds per fruit. These seeds have their own crafting applications and trade value.
This is typically your lowest-priority use case, but it’s good to know the option exists if you’re managing inventory space and need to convert resources.
Here’s how I prioritize Prickly Pear consumption based on situation:
Priority 1: Scrappy Upgrades Use your first 5-10 Prickly Pears for training Scrappy. The long-term ROI justifies delaying other uses.
Priority 2: Craft Fruit Mix If you have the recipe and other ingredients, convert Prickly Pear into Fruit Mix before raids. The dual buff is superior to raw consumption.
Priority 3: Emergency Field Consumption Keep 2-3 in accessible inventory slots during raids for emergency stamina needs. These can save your life.
Priority 4: Salvage for Seeds Only salvage excess Prickly Pear after you’ve covered the above needs and have surplus inventory.
During PvP engagements: If you’re trading shots and need to reposition frequently, that stamina boost lets you maintain mobility advantage. Staying mobile = staying alive.
Escaping ARC machines: Some ARC enemies are relentless pursuers. A well-timed Prickly Pear can give you the stamina to outrun them to safer zones or extraction points.
Looting under pressure: Found yourself in a hot zone with valuable loot but hostiles nearby? Consume Prickly Pear before engaging so you have stamina reserves for both fighting and escaping if necessary.
Long-distance rotations: If you’re crossing large portions of the map to reach specific farming locations, Prickly Pear lets you sprint more and walk less.
Using Prickly Pear too conservatively. Don’t hoard them so obsessively that you die when one could’ve saved you. They’re reasonably common—use them when appropriate.
Ignoring crafting opportunities. Raw Prickly Pear is good; Fruit Mix is better. Learn the recipe and craft when possible.
Not prioritizing Scrappy upgrades. Immediate gratification is tempting, but those permanent passive rewards compound over time.
Walking past cacti without checking. Even if a plant looks fruitless, scan the ground around it. The fruit can blend into the terrain.
Prickly Pear works best as part of a comprehensive survival approach:
Don’t rely solely on Prickly Pear for stamina management—it’s one tool in your survival toolkit, not a silver bullet.
Expand your Arc Raiders knowledge:
Prickly Pear might seem like a minor resource at first glance, but smart players quickly recognize its value. Whether you’re using it for emergency stamina boosts during tense firefights, investing in Scrappy upgrades for long-term gains, or crafting superior consumables, this desert fruit punches above its weight class.
The key is knowing where to find it efficiently (south of Research & Administration on Dam Battleground, Dune’s End on Buried City) and using it strategically rather than hoarding it indefinitely or wasting it carelessly.
Remember: stamina management separates survivors from casualties in Arc Raiders. Keep Prickly Pear in your toolkit, and you’ll extract successfully more often than not.
Now get out there and start harvesting those cacti. Your stamina bar will thank you.
