Tracks of the Beast is a Shani quest added in the Frozen Trail update that sends you back to Pendola Pass to scout two new ARC enemy types. The concept is simple — visit two locations, ping a Bully and a Skulker — but everything needs to happen in a single raid. Miss one ping before you extract and you are starting over. Here is exactly what to do.
Key Takeaways
- Quest comes from Shani — unlocks after completing Exploring Pendola Pass
- You get 2x Lure Grenade and 3x Adrenaline Shot for free when you accept
- Everything happens on Pendola Pass — all four mandatory objectives in one raid
- Head to Northern Tracks in the north of the map first, then southwest to Almatera Station
- Ping a Bully and a Skulker — no kills required, just tag them with a ping
- Two optional objectives: kill 3 Skulkers, and deliver a Skulker Targeter to Shani
- Mandatory rewards: 5,000 XP, 3x Showstopper, 1x Grappling Hook
- Optional rewards: 1x Skulker Targeter, 1x Wolfpack grenade (166 explosive damage, homing)
- Completing this quest unlocks Bait, Fetch, Blast (Apollo) and Belly of the Beast (Shani)
Before You Drop — What to Prepare
This quest has no required items to bring from your stash. Accepting it gives you 2x Lure Grenades and 3x Adrenaline Shots to take into the raid. The Lure Grenades are handy for drawing Bullies away from open areas before pinging them. The Adrenaline Shots are there in case a close encounter goes badly.
The one thing worth noting before you drop: all four mandatory objectives must be done in one raid. You cannot complete Northern Tracks in one run and then ping the enemies in another. Both location visits and both enemy pings need to happen before you extract. Plan your route accordingly.
Since both the Bully and Skulker are new enemy types introduced with the Frozen Trail update, check our Bully ARC enemy guide and Skulker ARC enemy guide if you want to know how to handle them before your run.
Step 1 — Head to Northern Tracks on Pendola Pass
Load into Pendola Pass and head to the Northern Tracks point of interest in the northern section of the map. If you cannot see it on your map, zoom all the way out — it sits at the very north of the map near the rail lines and abandoned train coaches.
Follow the rail lines and coaches into the area. Simply entering the vicinity is enough — there is nothing to interact with and no object to find. The quest updates automatically the moment you are in range. Move through quickly and keep heading to the next objective.
Step 2 — Find Almatera Station
From Northern Tracks, turn southwest and head toward Almatera Station. This is the destroyed station that sits in the northwestern section of Pendola Pass. One important thing: do not continue heading north after Northern Tracks. The quest description says “find the station at the end of the tracks” but the actual tracks extend out of bounds further north. Turn southwest instead.
The route takes you past Railroad Junction and Frozen River. Almatera Station is a ruined train station — wrecked buildings, derelict train cars, snow-covered debris. Again, just arriving at the location completes this objective. No interaction required.
While passing through the derelict trains, check inside for extra supplies. This area can have solid loot and it costs nothing to grab items as you move through.
Step 3 — Ping a Bully

With both location objectives cleared, you now need to ping the two new ARC enemy types. The Bully is a large, fast ground machine that patrols near points of interest. One almost always spawns close to Almatera Station or along the tracks north of it, so you usually do not need to wander far.
To ping: aim at the Bully and press the middle mouse button on PC (or the equivalent ping button on console). You do not need to shoot it, damage it, or kill it. Just tag it with the ping and the objective registers.
The Bully hits hard — a direct body strike deals 85 damage — and it can close the distance faster than it looks. Find a position with good cover and a clear line of sight, get the ping off from range, then move. Do not stand in the open waiting for it to get closer.
Step 4 — Ping a Skulker
The Skulker is the second enemy type to tag. It is significantly smaller than a Bully — low to the ground, fast-moving, and its pale shell blends into the snow on Pendola Pass. You might walk right past one without noticing it. Listen for its movement sounds while searching the open fields and snowfields around Almatera Station.
Same process as the Bully: aim at the Skulker and ping it. One ping, objective done. You do not need to kill it.
One useful note: if you accidentally kill a Skulker before pinging it, pinging the wreck can still register for the objective. So if one goes down before you tag it, aim at the remains and try the ping — there is a good chance it still counts.
Once both the Bully and the Skulker are pinged, all four mandatory objectives are complete. Extract and head back to Shani in Speranza.
Optional — Kill 3 Skulkers and Deliver a Skulker Targeter
There are two optional objectives that add bonus rewards on top of the base payout. Neither is required, but they are worth doing if you want the Wolfpack grenade.
Optional 1: Destroy 3 Skulkers on Pendola Pass. Skulkers are the easier of the two enemy types to fight. They are vulnerable in the central weapon turret and the thrusters — aim for those to bring them down fast. Weapons that use Heavy Ammo like the Bantam, Anvil, and Bettina are effective. Their gatling gun deals 12 damage per hit, which stacks up fast if multiple Skulkers are shooting at you, so avoid taking on more than one at a time in the open.
Optional 2: Deliver a Skulker Targeter to Shani. Skulker wrecks sometimes drop a Skulker Targeter item. If you find one while killing Skulkers for the first optional objective, put it in your Safe Pocket and extract with it. Then deliver it to Shani in Speranza. Combining both optional objectives in a single run is very doable — kill three Skulkers, grab the Targeter from a wreck if it drops, and extract.
Tracks of the Beast Quest Rewards
After extracting and claiming the quest from Shani’s desk in Speranza, you receive:
Mandatory Rewards
- 5,000 XP
- 3x Showstopper
- 1x Grappling Hook
Optional Rewards
- 1x Skulker Targeter (from delivering the targeter to Shani)
- 1x Wolfpack (Epic grenade — scatters into homing missiles, 166 explosive damage, 100m range)
The Wolfpack is genuinely worth going for. Homing missiles with 166 explosive damage each makes it a strong anti-ARC tool, especially on Pendola Pass where enemies can be spread across open ground. The three Skulker kills are not hard — if you are already fighting them for pinging practice, just keep going for the optional reward.

What Unlocks After Tracks of the Beast
Clearing Tracks of the Beast opens up two new quests:
- Bait, Fetch, Blast from Apollo
- Belly of the Beast from Shani
Both continue the push toward the Fallen Emperor on Pendola Pass. This quest is essentially the scouting mission that sets up those bigger encounters. For the complete picture of every available quest, our full ARC Raiders quest list has everything linked and tracked.
Tips for Completing Tracks of the Beast
- Do all four objectives in one raid — this is not optional. The game requires them in a single run. Do not extract early.
- Turn southwest after Northern Tracks, not north — the tracks continue out of bounds if you follow them north. Almatera Station is to the southwest.
- Use cover to ping the Bully — 85 damage per body hit is serious. Get a clear sightline, ping from range, and move. No need to fight it.
- Listen for the Skulker — its white color blends into Pendola Pass snow. Use sound to track it if it is not immediately visible around the station area.
- A dead Skulker’s wreck can still be pinged — if you kill one before tagging it, try pinging the remains.
- Grab the Skulker Targeter while doing the optional kills — same area, same enemies. Stack both optional objectives in one pass to avoid a second Pendola Pass raid.
- Use the Lure Grenades from the quest kit to reposition a Bully before pinging — draw it somewhere with better cover before committing to the tag.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to kill the Bully and Skulker to complete Tracks of the Beast?
No. You only need to ping them — aim at each enemy and press the ping button (middle mouse button on PC). No damage or kills required. The objective registers the moment the ping lands.
Where do I find Bully and Skulker enemies on Pendola Pass?
Both types patrol the area around Almatera Station and the stretch of track between there and Northern Tracks. A Bully is usually close to the station or along the tracks to the north. Skulkers move through the open snowfields nearby — listen for their sounds if you cannot spot one visually.
Can I ping a dead Skulker wreck?
Yes. If you kill a Skulker before pinging it, aim at the remains and try the ping. It can still register for the objective, so you are not necessarily locked out if one goes down before you tag it.
Where exactly is Almatera Station on Pendola Pass?
Almatera Station is in the northwestern section of Pendola Pass. From Northern Tracks, head southwest — do not follow the rail lines further north, as they lead out of bounds. The station is a ruined set of buildings and derelict train cars in the snow.
What is the Wolfpack grenade and is it worth the optional objectives?
The Wolfpack is an Epic grenade that splits into homing missiles dealing 166 explosive damage each, with a 100m range. It is a powerful anti-ARC tool on Pendola Pass, where enemies spread across open ground. The optional objectives — three Skulker kills and delivering a Skulker Targeter — are both manageable in one extra raid stop, so yes, it is worth it.
What quests unlock after Tracks of the Beast?
Completing Tracks of the Beast unlocks Bait, Fetch, Blast from Apollo and Belly of the Beast from Shani, both continuing the push toward the Fallen Emperor on Pendola Pass.
