If you’ve been waiting for an excuse to jump back into Dead by Daylight, Behaviour Interactive just handed you a pretty good one. Starting April 28, the ever-popular 2v8 game mode is returning to The Fog, and it’s coming packaged alongside a full Attack on Titan crossover expansion. The whole event runs through May 19, giving you just under three weeks to get your mech-sized titan fix in.
What Is 2v8 and Why Does Everyone Love It
For anyone who hasn’t played it before, 2v8 flips the standard Dead by Daylight format on its head in the best way possible. Instead of the regular four survivors versus one killer setup, you’ve got eight survivors going up against two killers. Maps are scaled up to accommodate the bigger player count, the hook system gets replaced with Cages, and perks get swapped out for a class-based system. The whole thing is louder, faster, and significantly more chaotic than a normal match — and the player base has loved every single time it’s come back.
This is actually the eighth time 2v8 has run since it first debuted in July 2024. What started as a bold experiment has become one of the most requested recurring features the game has, and Behaviour has been steadily refining it with each iteration. They’ve expanded the map pool, added more killers to the playable roster, reworked survivor classes, and continuously adjusted balance based on data and community feedback. The fact that previous crossover themes — like Ghost Face in May 2025, Resident Evil in early 2025, and the Konami Silent Hill/Castlevania combo in November 2025 — have all anchored their own 2v8 runs shows how well the format works as a home for big collaborative events.

The Attack on Titan Cosmetics
The original Attack on Titan collection dropped back in 2022 and it immediately became one of the most beloved cosmetic releases in the game’s history. All ten outfits from that initial run will be back and available to players, so if you missed them the first time around or slept on picking them up, this is your chance.
On top of the returning content, a wave of brand new cosmetics is landing alongside this event. The headline addition is the Attack Titan Legendary Outfit for The Trapper, which transforms him into a towering titan — which, honestly, feels like the most perfect cosmetic crossover you could dream up for Dead by Daylight. The Trapper is already one of the most visually imposing killers in the game, and dressing him up as a massive titan is just chef’s kiss.
Three new very rare survivor outfits are also dropping — and just to set expectations upfront, very rare cosmetics in Dead by Daylight are exactly what they sound like. Getting all three will require some luck. Jake Park gets Levi’s iconic Cleaning Outfit (the domestic version of one of the most beloved characters in the entire series), Yui Kimura gets Mikasa’s Dark Uniform from the time skip, and Thalita Lyra gets Sasha’s uniform. All three are strong choices thematically, and they’re going to look great running around on the expanded 2v8 maps.
Beyond those very rares, a larger wave of survivor outfits is also coming. Renato Lyra, Adam Francis, Mikaela Reid, and Haddie Kaur are all getting the Queen’s Ball Attire Outfit, while Feng Min and Meg Thomas will be picking up the Heart of Freedom Outfit. That’s a solid spread of characters covered, making sure a decent chunk of survivor mains will have something to collect during the event. The Attack on Titan-themed lobby is also making its return, so the atmosphere is fully committed to the crossover from the moment you boot the game up.
Balance Tweaks Coming to 2v8
Behaviour has never treated any 2v8 iteration as a “just put it back and walk away” kind of situation, and this one is no different. A couple of killer-specific adjustments are going live for the mode, and they reflect exactly the kind of data-driven refinements you’d expect after running this thing eight times now.
The Deathslinger is getting buffed, with reduced penalties for both reloading and missing shots. If you’ve played Deathslinger in previous 2v8 runs, you know how punishing his kit can feel when you’re in the flow of a fast-paced match and your shots aren’t landing cleanly. Smoothing that out should make him a more consistently viable pick. The Oni, on the other hand, is getting toned down slightly. His Demon Mode has proven to be a bit too dominant, so there’s now an increased uptime reduction after he successfully downs a survivor while powered up. The idea is to keep him strong but stop him from being an unstoppable force the entire match when he gets rolling.
On the survivor side, some meaningful quality of life updates are coming to the Cage system. The bleed-out timer will now pause briefly whenever a Cage relocates, which gives surviving teammates a bit more breathing room to coordinate a rescue rather than watching their friend slowly run out of time while the Cage moves to the other side of the map. Cage relocation time is also being shortened to keep match pacing feeling snappy and active. Both of these changes address real friction points that players have flagged over multiple 2v8 runs, and they should make the survivor experience noticeably better.
Two New Maps Added to the Rotation
The 2v8 map pool is growing again with the addition of Temple of Purgation and Ironworks of Misery. Both have been specifically adjusted to accommodate the 2v8 format — larger layouts, extra generators, and the general structural tweaks Behaviour makes to ensure maps work well with ten players rather than five. The rotation already had a strong lineup going into this, and adding two more options keeps things feeling fresh across a three-week event window.
Quests and Rewards
No proper Dead by Daylight event would be complete without some quest-based goodies, and the Attack on Titan 2v8 is no exception. A set of Attack on Titan-themed quests will be live throughout the event, with an Attack on Titan Badge, Banner, and Charm available to earn by working through them. Not ground-shaking stuff, but a nice bonus for anyone who’s going to be logging time in the mode regardless.
The whole package — 2v8 returning with fresh balance updates, a full cosmetic revival for one of the most popular crossovers in the game’s history, brand new very rare outfits, new maps, and quest rewards — makes this one of the better event packages Dead by Daylight has put together in a good while. If you haven’t touched the game recently, April 28 is a solid day to get back into The Fog.
