The full global launch hits May 19 on Xbox Series X|S and PC, available day one with Game Pass. The Gemera alone is going to be one of the most talked-about cars in the game given how absolutely unhinged its spec sheet is in real life. Series 1 Festival Playlist — “Welcome to Japan” (May 21 – June 18)
The Festival Playlist kicks off on May 21, a couple of days after the full global launch, and runs through June 18. This gives players a window to work through the story mode and earn the first wristband before the playlist gates open — Playground has deliberately kept Trial events out of Series 1 to prevent anyone feeling rushed to sprint through the campaign.

The Mazda Furai at 60 points is the clear headline of this playlist. It’s one of the most beautiful concept cars ever built — a rotary-powered Le Mans prototype that Mazda actually destroyed during a photoshoot — and it never got made in significant numbers. Getting it as a 60-point unlock is generous, and Playground knows what they’re doing putting it front and center for Series 1 in a Japan-set game.
The lower tiers are stacked with JDM legends that any gearhead is going to want in the garage immediately. The Altezza RS200, the GT-R V-Spec, the STI S209, and the Evo IX MR together represent some of the most beloved Japanese performance cars of the 1990s and early 2000s. The Starlet Glanza V might be the sleeper pick of the group — it’s a lightweight, turbocharged city car that punches way above its looks in handling-focused events.
At 40 points, the Evo IX MR and the CR-X SiR are both going to be strong picks for players who like nimble, driver-focused machines. The Land Cruiser AT37 adds off-road versatility for anyone who wants to explore the rally and cross-country events Japan’s terrain offers. And the 1974 Corolla SR5 brings classic vintage style as a nice contrast to all the high-revving 90s iron surrounding it.
Time Attack Car Pack — 8 Circuit-Ready Machines
The Time Attack Car Pack is built specifically for Forza Horizon 6’s new dedicated circuit events, and it’s a great bundle if you want to go deep on Japan’s track-focused gameplay. It’s available for purchase on Steam or the Microsoft Store, but Premium and Ultimate Edition owners get it included at no extra cost.

These are all real-world time attack builds from actual teams that ran at events like the World Time Attack Challenge in Australia. The WTAC series is one of the most extreme forms of time attack racing in the world — cars built from the ground up to be the fastest possible lap time machines, often with elaborate aerodynamic packages and heavily modified engines. Having them in a Forza game set in Japan is a natural fit, and the pack is going to appeal strongly to anyone who wants to build a proper track-focused garage from day one.
The Minicab Time Attack Mitsubishi is the absolute wildcard of the group — it’s exactly what it sounds like, a kei van with a full time attack setup, and it’s one of the most iconic cars in Australian time attack culture. It’s going to be spectacular and chaotic in equal measure.
Loyalty Rewards and Barn Finds
Beyond the Car Pass and playlist content, Playground is rewarding veteran Horizon players through loyalty rewards. If your Xbox Gamertag has history with previous Forza Horizon entries, the cover cars from those games unlock automatically. That includes vehicles like the 2024 Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray, the 2016 Lamborghini Centenario LP 770-4, and the 2013 Dodge SRT Viper GTS among others — a nice free bonus for longtime fans.
Barn Finds are also back, and early reports suggest this could be the largest Barn Find roster in series history. To access them, you’ll need to collect all seven stamps in the Discover Japan Collection Journal first, so that’s going to be an early priority for completionists.
What’s Coming in Series 2
Playground has already confirmed the next content wave. Series 2 is called Horizon Decades and kicks off once Series 1 wraps in mid-June. Alongside the thematic shift to automotive history, Series 2 introduces a temporary Car Meet feature and 10 additional Series Reward Cars. The Trial mode also returns in Series 2 — it was deliberately excluded from Series 1 to avoid rushing players through the campaign — giving Horizon Legends something to grind once they’ve fully settled into Japan.
With a Japan setting that gives the game an entire new JDM-heavy catalog to pull from, Forza Horizon 6 is shaping up as one of the more content-rich launches the series has had at release. Between the Festival Playlist, the Car Pass, the Time Attack pack, and loyalty rewards, most players are going to be chasing vehicles for weeks before they even start worrying about the post-launch schedule.
