How to Change Outfits in Aniimo — Step by Step

Changing your outfit in Aniimo takes just a few seconds once you know where to go. Here is exactly how to do it:

Step 1: Open the Pause Menu

Press Esc on PC, the Options button on PS5, or the Menu button on Xbox to open the main pause menu. This works at any time during your playthrough — you do not need to be at a specific location.

    Appearance Settings Aniimo
    Appearance Settings Aniimo

    Step 2: Select Appearance

From the pause menu, select the Appearance option. This opens the full cosmetic screen where all your clothing, accessories, hairstyle, and Aniimo customization options are stored.

Note: The Appearance menu unlocks after you receive the Institute uniform during the Institute Initiation Quest early in the story. If you cannot find it yet, keep progressing through the main story.

Step 3: Go to the Character Tab

At the top of the Appearance screen, you will see several tabs. Select the Character tab. Inside it, you will find three sub-tabs:

    • Clothing — tops, bottoms, shoes, gloves, socks, and full outfit sets.
    • Accessory — items like hats, bags, and decorative pieces.
    • Hairstyle — switch to any hairstyle you have unlocked.

    Step 4: Equip Your Outfit

Browse through the items in each tab. Any item you already own is available to equip right away — just select it and it goes on your character instantly. There is no cost to swap clothing you already have.

For locked items, the bottom right of the screen will show how to unlock them — whether that is through a story quest, an event, the Curio Corner Shop, or Lumin Crystals.

Step 5: Save an Outfit Preset (Optional)

You can save up to four outfit presets in Aniimo. Use the Outfit button at the bottom left of the screen to save your current look as a preset. This works for both your character and your Aniimo, so you can quickly switch between looks without rebuilding them each time.

How to Customize Your Aniimo’s Look

You can also change how your Aniimo look, not just your character. In the same Appearance screen, switch from the Character tab to the Aniimo tab.

From here, click the Switch button at the bottom to choose which Aniimo you want to customize. Then select the accessory you want to put on it. You can also adjust the position of accessories on the Aniimo’s body using the Adjust option on the right side of the screen.

Aniimo cosmetics are mostly accessories and Appearance Packs — opening a pack gives the accessory item that your creature can wear.

How to Change Your Hair and Deeper Appearance

Outfit swaps use the Character tab. But if you want to change your hairstyle design, face, makeup, or body proportions, you need the Design tab at the top of the Appearance screen.

    Under Design, you will find:

    • Face Adjust — tweak facial features like cheekbones, jawline, eyes, and nose. Requires a Redesign Card to use after character creation.
    • Hairstyle Design — choose a hairstyle and customize color, highlights, gradient, and strand shape. Switching styles is free. Changing hair color requires a Hair Saloon Card (costs 300 Glimmer at the shop).
    • Clothing Design — deeper outfit customization tools including dyeing individual pieces.

Important: Changing your face, makeup, or body proportions after character creation costs a Redesign Card. Hairstyle changes and outfit swaps are completely free. Gender cannot be changed after character creation.

Outfits in Aniimo are modular — full sets are divided into tops, bottoms, gloves, socks, and shoes. You can mix and match pieces from different sets freely. Dresses fill both the top and bottom slot as one item. Some tops also include a built-in backpack that can be toggled off.

How to Get More Outfits in Aniimo

There are several ways to unlock new outfits in Aniimo — both free and paid.

    Story Quests — Free Outfits

The fastest way to get a free outfit is simply by playing the main story. The first big quest takes you to Bloomville, a town built around flowers and fragrances. When you participate in the Bloom Festival, the village elder gives you and Nicole the Bloomville outfit set — a linen-textured outfit with matching floral headwear. You can expect this around character level 20.

Other story quests reward outfits later in the game too, so it is worth pushing through main content before assuming an outfit requires payment.

Daily Login Events and In-Game Events — Free Outfits

Aniimo is a live-service game that runs regular events with mini-games and challenges. At launch, the daily login event rewards an outfit for signing in over multiple days. The Sunlit Meadow limited outfit is tied to check-in milestones alongside story progress and Homeland features.

Always check the in-game events and announcements tab for active outfit rewards before they rotate out. You can also grab free cosmetics through Twitch Drops. See our full guide on all Aniimo Twitch Drops and how to claim them.

Homeland / RV Upgrades — Free Outfit Set

Your Homeland is your farming and production base, unlocked by completing the World Inside The RV prologue quest. As you level up your RV inside Homeland, you earn the Leisurely Everyday outfit set. Getting every piece requires raising the RV to level 14, which takes time and materials — but it is entirely free to earn through gameplay.

Curio Corner Shop — Free Currency Outfits

The Corner Shop inside the main Shop menu sells individual clothing pieces every day for Voxel Coins, a free in-game currency. Four items are available daily. The selection is randomized, and you get one free refresh every 24 hours. You can lock an item you want so it stays on the shelf through future automatic refreshes.

Look for pieces like Denim Swagger, Autumn Lane Daydreams, and Street Chic Trend costing between 100 to 400 Voxel Coins each.

Exchange Tab Vendors — Credits and In-Game Currency

The Exchange tab in the shop connects you to world vendors including the Outpost vendor, Lumen, ChillBeanz, Mysterious, Super Claw, Animart, and Wolfie’s. Fashion items here are bought with Credits (the main in-game currency) and some pieces are restricted to specific body types. Lumen specifically sells Aniimo accessories for Voxel Coins.

Aniilog Leveling Rewards — Free Cosmetics

When you submit catch data to the Research Console at the Outpost, you level up your Aniilog and earn rewards — including cosmetic items. Keep catching and submitting to unlock these over time.

    Paid Outfits — Lumin Crystals

The Appearance tab in the main Shop sells premium outfit sets for Lumin Crystals, the game’s real-money premium currency. At launch, the available paid sets include:

    • Razor Edge — 1,280 Lumin Crystals
    • Frostwolf Spirit — 1,280 Lumin Crystals
    • Seaside Heartbud — 980 Lumin Crystals
    • Cute Flame Whisper — 680 Lumin Crystals
    • Lulu Starlight — 380 Lumin Crystals

One purchase of a set dresses either character style. New paid outfits are added with future updates. All outfits — paid or free — are purely cosmetic and have zero effect on stats, combat, or any gameplay system.

Tips for Managing Outfits in Aniimo

    • Check the Corner Shop every day — the selection refreshes daily and you can snag individual pieces for free Voxel Coins.
    • Save outfit presets early — set up your four preset slots so you can switch looks in seconds.
    • Mix and match freely — you are not locked into wearing a set as a complete set. Mix tops, bottoms, and shoes from different outfits.
    • Dye outfits for free — changing the color of your clothing costs nothing. Hair color requires a Hair Saloon Card (300 Glimmer).
    • Do not use a Redesign Card by accident — confirm the preview before applying. Face, makeup, and body changes cost a Redesign Card; clothing and hairstyle style changes do not.
    • Complete story quests before buying outfits — several free sets are tied to main story progress that many players miss.
