Where Does the Bounce Music Disc Spawn?
The Bounce disc spawns in minecart with chest loot inside abandoned mineshafts, but only when that mineshaft has generated inside the sulfur caves biome. A mineshaft anywhere else in the world — even one right next to a sulfur cave — will never contain it.
This is what makes Bounce one of the harder discs to collect. You need two separate structures to overlap in the right way: a mineshaft generated inside the sulfur caves biome boundary. Neither structure is rare on its own, but finding them stacked on top of each other takes some searching. Once you are inside the right mineshaft, each chest gives you roughly a 42.1 percent chance on Java Edition 26.2 to roll the disc. That means even after you find the correct location, you may need to open several chests before it appears.
The disc is also non-renewable. Once you have looted every qualifying chest in your world, there are no more chances to get another copy naturally. Trading, commands, or creative mode are the only other routes.
What Does the Bounce Music Disc Look Like?
The disc has a black body with scattered yellow pixels across the top and a sulfuric yellow rim and center. The color scheme mirrors the look of sulfur cubes. In your inventory it shows the label fingerspit – Bounce. The track itself is in the chillwave genre, runs 3 minutes and 55 seconds, and starts slow before shifting into an upbeat, energetic section that fits the bouncy sulfur cube theme well.
If you use redstone, placing a comparator next to a jukebox playing Bounce outputs a signal strength of 8. How to Find the Bounce Music Disc — Step by Step
Step 1 — Find a Sulfur Cave Below a Sulfur Spring
The fastest way to locate the sulfur caves biome is to search the Overworld surface for sulfur springs. These are small pools surrounded by yellow sulfur and red cinnabar blocks with noxious gas bubbling from the water. Every sulfur spring generates directly above a sulfur cave. Once you spot one, dig down beneath it and you will drop into the biome.
Scan from elevated terrain or use an elytra to cover large distances quickly. Sulfur springs appear in any Overworld biome, so keep looking until you see the yellow coloring of one against the normal terrain. The gas rising from the pool is also visible from a reasonable distance.
Step 2 — Explore the Sulfur Cave for a Mineshaft
Once you are inside the sulfur cave, start exploring. You are looking for a mineshaft structure — the wooden plank corridors, support beams, torch-lit passages, and hanging rail tracks that make up an abandoned mineshaft. In a sulfur cave, these look out of place because the yellow sulfur and red cinnabar walls replace the usual grey stone.
Mineshafts generate in the same underground space as other cave biomes, so a sulfur cave can have one cutting through it just like a dripstone cave or lush cave would. The trick is that the mineshaft has to actually be within the sulfur caves biome boundary to qualify. If the mineshaft tunnels extend outside the biome, only the chests inside the biome portion can roll the Bounce disc.
Watch for these signs of a mineshaft inside the cave:
- Wooden planks and fence posts used as support beams
- Rail tracks running through tunnels
- Minecart with chest sitting on the rails
- Cave spider spawners (common in mineshafts — stay alert)
- Torches placed along the walls
Step 3 — Open Every Minecart Chest in the Sulfur Cave Section
The disc only appears in minecart with chest loot — the small chests attached to minecarts sitting on the rail tracks inside the mineshaft. Regular placed chests do not contain Bounce. Open every minecart chest you find while the surrounding biome is still sulfur caves.
Each chest gives you roughly a 42% chance. In practice this means you might find the disc on the first chest or you might open five before it drops. Clear the entire mineshaft section inside the biome before moving on. If you exit the sulfur caves biome boundary and the walls return to normal stone or deepslate, chests in that section will not drop the disc.
Watch out for cave spider spawners attached to the mineshaft walls. Cave spiders apply poison and can quickly overwhelm you in tight corridors. Bring a sword with Smite or Bane of Arthropods, and destroy spawners as soon as you spot them. A potion of healing is worth keeping in your hotbar for this reason.
Step 4 — If No Mineshaft Is Present, Move to the Next Sulfur Cave
Not every sulfur cave has a mineshaft in it. If you fully explore a sulfur cave and find no mineshaft passages, move on to the next one. Return to the surface, find another sulfur spring, and descend again. Each new sulfur cave is a fresh roll on whether a mineshaft overlaps with it.
How to Use Commands to Find the Disc Faster
If cheats are enabled or you have operator permissions, two commands dramatically cut down the search time. Run both and find where their results overlap on your map:
/locate biome minecraft:sulfur_caves — returns the nearest sulfur caves biome coordinates.
/locate structure minecraft:mineshaft — returns the nearest abandoned mineshaft coordinates.
Start with the biome command since sulfur caves are the rarer of the two. Once you have the biome coordinates, travel there and then run the mineshaft command from inside the biome to find the nearest mineshaft in that region. If the mineshaft is close to the biome center, it is likely inside the biome boundary and worth exploring.
On Java Edition, you can also open the debug screen with F3 and watch the biome name update in real time as you walk. It will display sulfur_caves when you are inside the biome underground. This lets you confirm which sections of a mineshaft are inside the qualifying area before you waste time opening chests in sections that will not drop the disc.

Use a Seed Map Tool

Bring Milk Buckets
The sulfur pools inside the cave cause Nausea on contact. Nausea warps your vision and makes exploring the mineshaft much harder. Keep two or three milk buckets in your hotbar to clear the effect immediately if you step into a pool by accident. Craft buckets from iron ingots and fill them from any cow before heading down.
Light the Cave as You Go
Place torches throughout the sulfur cave as you explore to stop hostile mobs from spawning in areas you have already cleared. This makes sweeping the mineshaft tunnels safer on return trips. It also stops more sulfur cubes from spawning in dark corners while you are focused on loot hunting.
Mark Explored Mineshaft Sections
Mineshafts are maze-like and easy to get turned around in. Place a distinct block like a colored terracotta block at each intersection you have already cleared. This stops you from doubling back through tunnels you have already looted and missing fresh chests in unexplored branches.

Bounce is the only disc added in the Chaos Cubed update, but fingerspit also contributed five new ambient background tracks: Ebb, Home, Memories, Nightly, and Shores.
