Persona 6 leaks are coming in fast, and the community can barely keep up. Less than 24 hours after protagonist character designs surfaced through Xiaohongshu — a source with a strong track record for Atlus leaks — a separate image has quietly emerged online showing what appears to be a Persona 6 confidant character nicknamed “Sam.” Known Atlus leaker Lolilolaio has since weighed in to validate the image, and with Summer Game Fest and the Xbox Games Showcase just days away, the timing of all of this is almost certainly not a coincidence.
Who Is “Sam”?
The leaked image shows a female character with long, dull blue hair and two distinct outfit designs. The first is a black dress with a black bow — a more formal or dressed-up look. The second is a more casual streetwear aesthetic: high-waisted black pants, a black corset-style top, and a blue denim jacket. The name “Sam” appears to be either a nickname or a shortened version of her full name, which hasn’t been confirmed yet.
Visually, Sam reads as older than the typical Persona high schooler. Whether that means she’s a senior student — a year or two above the protagonist — or a young adult in an extended supporting role isn’t clear from the image alone. The blue hair and dual-outfit design are consistent with the kind of concept art Atlus produces for major supporting characters, and the style lines up cleanly with the visual language of the protagonist designs that leaked separately.
Known Atlus leaker Lolilolaio drew attention to the image on ResetEra after it went largely unnoticed amid the larger protagonist leak wave, noting it was “funny that nobody paid attention to this one. They should.” That’s about as pointed an endorsement as you get from someone in their position — not a flat confirmation, but a strong signal that the image is legitimate.

The Bigger Picture — What Else Has Leaked
Sam’s design didn’t surface in a vacuum. The past week has seen a significant flood of Persona 6 material emerge from multiple directions, and taken together it’s the clearest picture the community has ever had of what P6 actually looks like.
The most significant leak before Sam was the protagonist character designs, which surfaced via Xiaohongshu — the same Chinese social platform that has leaked accurate Atlus material in the past. The images showed two protagonists: a blonde-haired male and a black and red-haired female. A file list shared alongside the designs revealed the female character’s full name as Yoko Kusakabe, which — if accurate — suggests she is a fixed party member rather than an alternate protagonist selection. Push Square noted that Atlus has previously stated dual protagonists are expensive to produce properly, which slightly favours the interpretation that the male character is the selectable protagonist and Yoko is a companion.
The same file list revealed additional character names, transcribed by ResetEra members from the original source. Those names are what drew Lolilolaio’s attention to the Sam image — the confidant character appears to be one of the names on that list, which is part of why the leaker flagged it specifically.
Wccftech reported that while an AI-generated group shot initially raised doubts about the leak’s authenticity, the individual character design sheets look genuinely consistent with Atlus’s known production style. The combination of the Xiaohongshu source’s track record and Lolilolaio’s corroboration has shifted the community’s read from “probably fake” to “probably real.”
What Is Persona 6 Actually Going to Be?
Beyond the character designs, earlier leaks and insider reports have built up a reasonable picture of what Persona 6 is aiming to be as a game. The consistent reporting across multiple sources over the past couple of years suggests:
- Significantly larger in scale than Persona 5 — multiple sources have described P6 as a much bigger step forward than P5 was from P3 and P4, with Persona 3 Reload described internally as a technical test bed for systems being developed for the new game.
- A high school setting — consistent with the series’ pattern, though the specific location hasn’t been confirmed. Earlier leaks pointed to a Japanese setting rather than overseas.
- Confidant system returning — the Sam leak itself is confirmation that Social Links or Confidants remain a core mechanic, not a departure that fans had occasionally speculated about.
- A 2027 release window — multiple leakers have pointed toward 2027, with a September 2027 date specifically circulating. Vice reported that the protagonist leak corroborated this window. Given that Persona 5 released in September 2016, a September 2027 release would continue the series’ affinity for autumn launches.
Persona 4 Revival First — Then P6
One important piece of context for when Persona 6 will actually arrive: Persona 4 Revival is expected to come first. Atlus’s remake of P4 has been in the rumour cycle for even longer than P6 has, and based on how Atlus structured Persona 3 Reload as a precursor to new mainline content, P4 Revival is the more likely near-term announcement. The current expectation in the community is that P4 Revival will be formally revealed at or around the summer 2026 showcase season, with P6 getting either a teaser or a full reveal at the same events — but launching well after Revival.
2026 is also the Persona franchise’s 30th anniversary year, which gives Atlus a strong incentive to make meaningful announcements before the year ends. Revealing both P4 Revival and a proper P6 teaser during the same summer showcase window would be an appropriate way to mark the milestone.
Could It Be at the Xbox Games Showcase?
The rumour that Persona 6 will make an appearance at the Xbox Games Showcase on June 7 has been circulating since the protagonist designs leaked. Vice specifically noted this as an unconfirmed rumour, and it should be treated as speculation rather than insider information. That said, Persona 5 Royal came to Xbox Game Pass, and Atlus’s relationship with Microsoft has warmed considerably over the past few years. An Xbox Showcase appearance for either P4 Revival or P6 — or both — is plausible enough to keep on your radar.
Summer Game Fest on June 5, the Future Games Show on June 6, and the PC Gaming Show on June 7 are all additional candidates. One of these events is almost certainly where the community will transition from leak territory to official announcement territory. Based on everything that’s surfaced this week, that moment feels very close.
Neither Sega nor Atlus has commented on any of the recent leaks, and no official confirmation is expected before a proper reveal. But for fans who have been waiting since 2016 for the next mainline Persona game, this week has felt like the walls are finally coming down.
