Pokemon Scarlet and Violet have one more unmissable event on the horizon before the Gen 9 games start winding down for good. Starting June 25, trainers get their last-ever shot at catching a Mightiest Mark Hisuian Decidueye through a 7-Star Tera Raid, and once it’s gone, it’s gone for good. Here’s everything you need to know to make the most of it.
- The last-ever Hisuian Decidueye 7-Star Tera Raid starts June 25 at 4:00 PM PT / 7:00 PM ET.
- The event runs for one full week, ending Thursday, July 2 at 3:59 PM PT / 6:59 PM ET.
- Hisuian Decidueye the Unrivaled is a Grass Tera Type with six perfect IVs and the Mightiest Mark.
- Players can only catch it once per save file, but can farm it repeatedly for items afterward.
- Best counters include Ceruledge and Skeledirge, with Skeledirge’s Unaware ability being particularly powerful here.
- Hisuian Typhlosion follows July 2, and Hisuian Samurott wraps up the series on July 9.
Why This Hisuian Decidueye Raid Is a Big Deal
Pokemon Scarlet and Violet have been running 7-Star Tera Raids since the game launched in late 2022, cycling through starters, fan favorites, and cross-generational visitors like Mewtwo. But after nearly four years of support, The Pokemon Company is winding things down, and these Hisuian starter raids are officially the final stretch before the Gen 9 games go quiet.
The last ranked season update for Scarlet and Violet came back in April 2026, with competitive play fully transitioning to Pokemon Champions. What’s left now is a 30-week farewell tour of Tera Raids featuring all starter Pokemon one final time, and Hisuian Decidueye’s slot falls on June 25. After this week is over, there are no more reruns planned. For anyone who missed the first two appearances of this raid back in October 2023, this is genuinely the last chance.
There’s also a specific reason to want this particular version of the Pokemon. Hisuian Decidueye normally cannot be obtained in Paldea at all without transferring it over from Pokemon Legends: Arceus through Pokemon HOME. For players who haven’t played Legends: Arceus or simply want a Mightiest Mark version with perfect IVs and no HOME transfer required, this raid is the only option.
Hisuian Decidueye Raid Details
Hisuian Decidueye the Unrivaled will appear as a Grass Tera Type, losing its usual Grass/Fighting typing for the raid. It comes with six perfect IVs and the Mightiest Mark, and can be caught in any Poke Ball on the first successful raid completion. After that first catch, players can continue farming the raid for items but won’t get another catch encounter on the same save file.
When looking for the raid on the map, find a black sparkling Tera Raid crystal with a Grass-type icon, which looks visibly different from normal colored raid symbols. The raid rotates through the map on a daily basis, so if one isn’t showing up immediately, checking back the next day or downloading the latest Poke Portal News from the Mystery Gift menu should refresh the spawn.
How to Unlock 7-Star Tera Raids
Players who haven’t yet unlocked 7-Star raids need to clear a few steps first. Completing the Academy Ace Tournament in the postgame is mandatory, followed by completing around ten 4-Star or 5-Star Raids. Once those conditions are met, Jacq will call with a message that officially unlocks Black Crystal Tera Raid Battles. Anyone who hasn’t hit that point yet can still join online via Link Code, though 7-Star raids are genuinely difficult and jumping in underprepared is a rough experience.
Best Counters for Hisuian Decidueye the Unrivaled
Hisuian Decidueye’s behavior in this raid follows a predictable pattern that makes the right counters very effective. On the second turn after resetting stats, it will use Bulk Up to boost Attack and Defense, and later adds Swords Dance on top for even more physical punch. It also has the Scrappy ability, which means Normal and Fighting-type moves will hit Ghost-type Pokemon, so the standard ghost immunity doesn’t apply here.
Skeledirge
Skeledirge is arguably the strongest solo counter available. Its hidden ability, Unaware, allows it to completely ignore Hisuian Decidueye’s stat boosts from Bulk Up and Swords Dance, meaning all that setup turns are essentially wasted. Torch Song gives it a way to stack Special Attack boosts of its own, and its Fire typing resists Grass moves cleanly. Skeledirge also has access to Slack Off for reliable healing to stay alive through the raid’s toughest phases.
Ceruledge
Ceruledge hits hard with Fire and Ghost-type moves, deals supereffective damage against Hisuian Decidueye, and can use Bitter Blade to recover HP from every hit it lands. It’s a solid choice for players who prefer a more aggressive approach rather than outlasting the boss.
Other Options
Munkidori, Clodsire with Unaware, and specially defensive Fire-types like Arcanine can also handle the raid effectively. Clear Smog is worth noting here as well, since it’s considered an attacking move in raid mechanics and can strip Hisuian Decidueye’s stat boosts even through its shield, where moves like Haze and Taunt don’t work.
What Rewards Can You Get From Hisuian Decidueye Raids?
Beyond catching the Pokemon itself on the first completion, farming subsequent raids is worth doing for the item drops. Guaranteed rewards from the raid pool include Exp. Candy L and XL, Protein and Calcium vitamins, Grass Tera Shards, TM159 Leaf Storm, and the rare Ability Patch. Random reward pulls can include Rare Candies, PP Up items, money items like Nuggets and Comet Shards, and additional Grass Tera Shards. Players looking to build a competitive team or stock up on training items will get solid value from multiple runs.
The Full Hisuian Starter Schedule
Hisuian Decidueye is just the first of three final Hisuian starter raids wrapping up Scarlet and Violet’s last big event run. Here’s the full schedule:
- Hisuian Decidueye — June 25 to July 2
- Hisuian Typhlosion — July 2 to July 9
- Hisuian Samurott — July 9 to July 16
All three Hisuian starters are otherwise unavailable in Paldea without a Pokemon HOME transfer from Legends: Arceus, making each of these raids the only in-game way to get Mightiest Mark versions on a Scarlet or Violet save file. Players who want all three should plan their schedule accordingly, especially if they also intend to transfer any of them to Pokemon Champions once they’re caught.
For the most up-to-date event schedules and full reward tables, Serebii’s Tera Raid event tracker is the best place to stay on top of things, and the official Pokemon site will have full event details once the raid goes live on June 25.
More Gaming News Worth Checking Out
There’s plenty else going on across gaming right now too. Halo fans should check out the newly confirmed Halo: Fall of Reach audio drama coming November 10 with the original voice cast. Indie fans should look into Dinoblade, a Dark Souls-style game where dinosaurs fight with swords in their jaws, launching PC in July. The Ori director also recently criticized Xbox Game Pass’s content strategy, and the Nex Playground console that outsold the PS5 is making its UK debut.
