Where Each Chapter Takes Place
The game starts in rainy Iceland in the prologue: Against the Odds. Chapter 1, The Needle’s Eye, introduces you to all the core gameplay systems during MI6 boot camp training on Malta, where you get familiar with hand-to-hand combat, stealth, climbing, and driving. Chapter 2, A Night Out, is the first real mission for Bond’s new team — set in a London nightclub where you blend in with the dancing crowd, eavesdrop on conversations, meet informants, and hack a target.
Later missions take Bond to locations including Monaco, Tokyo, and Dubai, with difficulty scaling as the campaign progresses. The final chapter, For England, brings the story to its conclusion.
How Long Does 007 First Light Take to Beat?
007 First Light will take roughly 13 to 15 hours to complete if you focus only on finishing the chapters. If you are aiming for 100% completion, which also includes grabbing every collectible in the game, it may take an additional 3 to 4 hours.
The story is split into 17 linear chapters and takes around 20 hours for players who explore thoroughly. The TacSim online mode offers additional content beyond the main campaign.

All 007 First Light Challenges — What They Are and How They Work
There are various challenges available across all chapters, which can take a few extra minutes to complete. You can complete them from the mission itself, which also earns you various in-game rewards.
Each chapter has its own set of challenges. These are optional objectives that push you to approach missions differently — going full stealth, avoiding combat, completing certain actions in a specific order, or finding alternate routes. Each mission is filled with collectibles and challenges, so replaying them is advised so that you can pursue every avenue of success and unlock unique outfits for TacSim.
Challenge Rewards Per Chapter
Completing all challenges in a chapter unlocks an exclusive outfit for Bond. Here is what each chapter rewards:
- Against the Odds — Complete 8 challenges → Iceland Outfit
- A New Home — Complete all 12 challenges → Malta Training Outfit
- The Past Never Dies — Complete all 24 challenges → Mauritania Outfit
- Knightfall — Complete all 24 challenges → White Tux
- Time to Die — Complete all 25 challenges → Polar Outfit
- For England — Complete all 16 challenges → Track Suit
There is also a global reward: the Agent Outfit is unlocked by finishing every main story challenge and completing all 15 Global challenges. This is the ultimate completionist reward for challenge hunters.
Tips for Completing Challenges
- Read challenge requirements before starting a chapter so you know what approach to take.
- Use Chapter Select to replay specific checkpoints. You do not need to redo an entire mission.
- Some challenges are mutually exclusive in a single run — for example, a stealth challenge and a combat challenge in the same area. Plan which ones to tackle first.
- Some challenges, like Something to Prove and Cressida’s Way, can be completed together in the same run if you plan your route carefully.
All 007 First Light Collectibles — Complete Breakdown
007 First Light contains 92 collectible locations in total: 36 Cards, 23 Intel, 14 Mementos, 10 Postcards, and 9 Legacy Items. Finding all collectibles unlocks the “A Collector’s Habit” trophy and achievement.
The good news: nothing is missable — everything can be collected through Chapter Select. All collectibles are saved instantly when picked up. You can quit out immediately after grabbing one without needing to reach the next checkpoint.
Playing Cards (36 Total)
Playing Cards are the most numerous collectible in the game. Finding all 36 Card locations unlocks the “Casino Royale” trophy and achievement. They are scattered throughout every chapter and are often hidden slightly off the main path or tucked behind environmental obstacles. In Chapter 4 you unlock the Q-Watch, which highlights collectibles in yellow when pressing L1/LB near them — use this to spot cards you might otherwise walk past.
Intel / MI6 Files (23 Total)
Intel files are documents and dossiers found throughout missions. They provide background lore on characters, locations, and events tied to the story. Intel can be found in security rooms, on desks near vents, and in restricted areas throughout the campaign. Collecting all 23 unlocks the “For Your Eyes Only” achievement.
Mementos (14 Total)
The Mementos are a little easier to collect than some other sets due to their relatively limited supply. They are spaced relatively evenly throughout the campaign. Once you have them all, you’ll unlock the “Recovered Assets” achievement and check off another requirement for the overarching “A Collector’s Habit” achievement.
Mementos are small personal objects — things like a Pillow Mint, a Diving Watch, or a Satellite Part — that add flavour to Bond’s world. Most are found near chairs, desks, or tables in rooms slightly off the critical path.
Postcards (10 Total)
Finding all 10 Postcard locations unlocks “The World Is Not Enough” trophy and achievement. Postcards are tied to the game’s global locations and are generally found in more open, explorable areas of each chapter. They are easier to spot than Intel files but require you to leave the main route briefly.
Legacy Items (9 Total)
007 First Light contains 9 Legacy Item locations. These are the rarest collectibles in the game and the most meaningful for Bond fans. Each one is a nod to classic Bond history — real-world items inspired by the films and novels, such as the Cruciform Key, Dagger Shoes, and Concert Poster. They feel like a playable museum of 007 history. Players who sweep for other collectible types sometimes miss Legacy Items entirely, so keep a separate eye out for them.
Useful Tips for 100% Collectible Completion
- Use the Q-Watch from Chapter 4 onwards. It highlights collectibles in yellow when pressing L1/LB nearby. Always have it equipped when exploring.
- Get the Laser Strap in Chapter 9. The laser lets you break certain locks and objects required to reach some collectibles. Always keep it in your loadout from that point on.
- Track by type, not by chapter. There is no collectible tracker by chapter — only by type when pressing the Touchpad/View button. Use this to see exactly how many of each type you still need.
- Nothing is permanently missable. Every collectible can be grabbed via Chapter Select, so do not stress if you forget one during a first playthrough.
- Follow a per-type guide. Tracking each of the five types separately — rather than trying to get everything in one pass — keeps things manageable and less confusing.
TacSim Mode and Extra Challenges
TacSim is the sandbox and online challenge mode in 007 First Light. Escalations unlock after Chapter 6: A Night Out, and Operations become available only after finishing the main story.
To earn TacSim-related trophies, you need to finish 3 Escalations to reach Tier 3 (each taking 1 to 3 minutes), finish 1 Operation, and reach Clearance Level 3. If you are not automatically Level 3 after the other TacSim tasks, replay the shortest Escalations and complete their challenges for fast XP. TacSim is also where you wear and show off all those challenge-reward outfits you earn from the main campaign.
