What Is the Clean Hands Quest in ARC Raiders?

Clean Hands is one of the new quests added with the Frozen Trail update on October 8, 2026. It is given by the Nomadic Trader and sends you to the brand new Pendola Pass map to investigate a hidden Nomad Camp and recover a lost relic.

The story has you searching for an Equatorial Sundial that was left behind in an underground camp beneath the Railyard. Once you find it, you take it to the top of the Old Town Church to take solar readings, then extract it back to Speranza and deliver it to the Nomadic Envoy.

Unlike quests like Home to Roost, Clean Hands must be completed within a single raid. If you pick up the Sundial and then die or lose it before extracting, you will need to start over in a new match. Plan your run before you deploy.

For a full list of all available quests, see our ARC Raiders all quests complete list.

Before You Start – What to Prepare

A few things to sort out before you drop into Pendola Pass:

    • Equip a Safe Pocket augment. You must extract with the Equatorial Sundial in your inventory. If you die and it is not in a Safe Pocket, it stays on your body and the run fails. This is the single most important preparation step.
    • Bring heals and a solid weapon. Pendola Pass has hostile ARC machines throughout, including Bully Arcs and other dangerous enemies. You will be moving between two POIs, so expect some combat.
    • Use a Free Loadout if you want. There is nothing to extract with beyond the Sundial, so there is no need to risk your best gear unless you want to.
    • Know your extraction points. The Gondola is the main extraction method on Pendola Pass. Locate it on your map before going deep into the Railyard or Old Town.

    Clean Hands – All Objectives

    1. Find the Nomad Camp under the Railyard
    2. Search for the polluted item in the Nomad Camp
    3. Bring the Equatorial Sundial to the top of the Old Town Church
    4. Deliver the Equatorial Sundial to the Nomadic Envoy

Step 1 – Find the Nomad Camp Under the Railyard

After deploying into Pendola Pass, make your way to the Railyard POI. You can find it on the eastern side of the map, south of the Controlled Receiving Facility.

The Nomad Camp is hidden underground, so you are not looking for something visible from above. Approach the Railyard from the east. When you get close to the building, look along the eastern wall for two round openings — these are drainage pipe-style entrances that lead under the structure.

Pass through either opening and follow the passage inward. Keep going into the underground section and climb up to the elevated metal walkways. Once you reach the Nomad Camp area, the first objective will update automatically.

The camp itself has abandoned supplies, crates, containers, and connected walkways. Take a moment to loot the area if you want — there is usually decent scavenge here.

Step 2 – Search for the Polluted Item in the Nomad Camp

Search for the Polluted Item in the Nomad Camp
Search for the Polluted Item in the Nomad Camp

The item you are looking for is the Equatorial Sundial, hidden inside a yellow duffel bag near the center of the elevated walkways in the Nomad Camp. You do not have to search every container — head straight for the central section of the camp.

Look for a yellow bag sitting near a green barrel, surrounded by abandoned crates and supplies. Walk up to it and interact to search for the polluted item. The Equatorial Sundial will appear as a pickup after the interaction.

Pick it up and move it into your Safe Pocket immediately. Do not leave the camp with it in your main inventory slots. If you die before placing it in the Safe Pocket, you lose the item and need to restart the quest in a new match.

Step 3 – Bring the Equatorial Sundial to the Top of the Old Town Church

Now you need to carry the Sundial west across the map to the Old Town POI. Make sure you are heading to Old Town and not Old Hamlet — they are different locations. Old Town sits to the west of the map near the ARC Emperor corpse.

Bring the Equatorial Sundial to the Top of the Old Town Church

Once you arrive, the church is easy to spot — it has a tall steeple rising above the other buildings. That steeple is exactly where you need to go.

Here is how to get to the top:

    • Enter the church through any available entrance.
    • Find the spiral staircase inside and start climbing.
    • Keep going up until you reach a vertical zipline.
    • Grab the zipline — it takes you up to the top of the tower.
    • Once at the top, step onto the balcony and approach the railing.
    • Look for the yellow interaction prompt and interact to hold the Equatorial Sundial up and take readings.

Once the interaction completes, the objective updates. Keep the Sundial in your inventory — you are not leaving it here. You need to extract with it for the final step.

If you are new to Pendola Pass and still learning the map layout, our Pendola Pass map guide covers the key areas and points of interest in full.

Step 4 – Deliver the Equatorial Sundial to the Nomadic Envoy

The last step is straightforward: extract from Pendola Pass with the Sundial in your possession, then return to Speranza and hand it to the Nomadic Envoy.

Open your map and find an available Gondola extraction point — this is the standard extraction method on Pendola Pass. Travel to the activation console, call the Gondola, and board it when it arrives.

A few things to keep in mind for this final stretch:

    • Avoid unnecessary fights after using the Sundial at the church. The objective is to extract safely, not to clear the map.
    • Keep the Sundial in your Safe Pocket until you are back in Speranza. If another player kills you and you are not protected, the quest fails.
    • If for any reason you lose the Sundial before extracting, the quest will not complete. You will need to restart in a new raid.

Once you extract and return to Speranza, find the Nomadic Envoy (also referred to as Ermal) and deliver the Sundial. The quest is then complete and your rewards are granted.

For tips on extracting efficiently, see our extraction guide.

    Clean Hands – Rewards

Once you deliver the Equatorial Sundial to the Nomadic Envoy, you receive:

    • 5,000 XP
    • 1x Sextant
    • 1x Shield Recharger
    • 1x Battered Paperback

The Battered Paperback is worth holding onto. It is used for Research Workbench progression at your Outpost, so do not sell or recycle it without checking what upgrades you still need. The Sextant can be sold for extra coins if you have no other use for it.

    Tips for Completing Clean Hands

    • Safe Pocket is mandatory, not optional. Every other tip is secondary. If you do not have a Safe Pocket augment equipped, dying with the Sundial ends your run. Equip one before you deploy — no exceptions.
    • Do the Railyard and Church in one run. There is no multi-session option here. Plan your route from the Railyard east side entrance to the Old Town Church before dropping in.
    • Pendola Pass has aggressive ARC machines. The Bully ARC is particularly dangerous and appears on this map. Learn its behavior and keep your distance where possible on your way to the extraction point.
    • Loot the camp while you are there. The Nomad Camp is a decent scavenging spot. Grab anything useful before leaving — you are already there, and it costs nothing but a moment of your time.
    • Do not rush the church stairs. Players sometimes miss the spiral staircase or get turned around looking for the zipline. Take it steady and follow the path upward — it is linear once you are inside.
