Abaco Island — What You Need to Know First
Abaco Island sits north of Nassau in the Caribbean. Edward Kenway visits it early in the main story during Sequence 3. It is one of the first islands you get to explore freely, making it a natural place to pick up early treasure maps.
There are 22 treasure maps in total in AC Black Flag Resynced. Abaco Island is involved in two of them — one as the starting point and one as the destination. Before you can dig up any buried chest, you must collect the corresponding treasure map first. The dig prompt will not appear without it. Once a map is in your inventory, open the Codex or Treasure Map tab to review the clue drawing and confirm the coordinates.
Map 1: Treasure Map Found ON Abaco Island
Where to Get the Map — Abaco Island (581, 804)
Head to the southwest shore of Abaco Island at coordinates (581, 804). You will find a skeleton slumped against a palm tree near the beach. Loot it to collect the Salt Lagoon Treasure Map. This is easy to grab while passing through during the main story or hunting collectibles on the island.
The map itself shows a large rock formation near a beach. That is your clue for what to look for at the destination.
Treasure Chest Solution — Salt Lagoon (719, 607)
Despite the map coming from Abaco Island, the buried chest is not on Abaco itself. Sail northeast to Salt Lagoon. The dig spot is at coordinates (719, 607) on the northwestern beach, just south of a large tall rock formation. Look for green ferns growing near the base of the rock — the dig prompt appears right there. It is easy to miss if you walk past the rock without getting close to the fern patch.

The second map connected to Abaco Island starts on Andreas Island, just southwest of Nassau in the Eleuthera region. Head to the southern coast of the island at coordinates (543, 693). Look for a skeleton lying on the sandy shore near a rotting wrecked boat and a torch. Loot it to collect the Andreas Island Treasure Map (also called the Abaco Island buried chest map in some codex views).
You can pick this up naturally during the early main story missions involving Mary Read (James Kidd) on Andreas Island. Synchronising the Andreas Island Viewpoint also marks the map location on your map.
Treasure Chest Solution — Abaco Island (586, 811)
This map sends you back to Abaco Island. The buried chest is at coordinates (586, 811) in the northeast corner of the island. Head there and look for a semi-submerged shipwreck near the shore. The dig spot is in the grass on the ground behind the large rock near the wreck. Dig there to claim your reward.

Tips for Finding Both Dig Spots
- You need the map before you can dig. If you are standing at the right coordinates and see no prompt, check your inventory. The dig option only unlocks once the matching map is collected.
- Synchronise nearby Viewpoints. This reveals treasure map icons on the minimap and gives you a better lay of the land around each dig location.
- Salt Lagoon dig spot is easy to miss. Get close to the base of the large rock and look for the green ferns — the prompt appears right in that cluster, not in the open sand nearby.
- Abaco NE dig spot is near the shipwreck. Look for the half-submerged wreck on the northeast shore, then move to the grass behind the large rock formation just inland from it.
- Neither map is missable. Both islands remain fully accessible after the story ends, so you can return at any point if you missed either map or chest.
What to Do on Abaco Island While You Are There
While you are on Abaco Island collecting treasure, it is worth clearing the rest of the island’s collectibles in the same visit. There is a Viewpoint on the bowsprit of a wrecked ship on the southwest beach. There is also a chest in the sea off the south beach worth 1,000 Reales. The island also has a deer hunting spot near the centre, which feeds into Edward’s crafting upgrades if you need animal materials. Abaco Island is also one of the easier early stops to reach from Nassau without sailing into high-level fort territory. From Nassau, approach from the south and keep west to avoid running into restricted fleet areas near Gibara or Eleuthera if your Jackdaw is still lightly upgraded.
