All friendly animals locations in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced are listed here so you can unlock the A Friend to All trophy and achievement in one clean sweep. Despite the in-game description saying you need to interact with 7 animals, there are actually 8 distinct interactions required. None of them are missable and all can be done after the story ends.

• The trophy description says 7 animals but 8 interactions are needed to unlock it.
• The Monkey is the trickiest — it requires completing the Monkey Business local event in Havana (225, 568) and then interacting with Albert in the Jackdaw’s captain cabin.
• Most animals can be found in Kingston, making it the single most efficient stop.
• Turtles can be found on Abaco Island beach (584, 807) very early in the story.
• The Parrot is in a cage at Havana’s market square (211, 586) — easy to walk past.
• Nothing is missable — every animal remains available after finishing the main story.

How A Friend to All Works in AC Black Flag Resynced

The A Friend to All trophy and achievement unlocks when you interact with every friendly animal type in the game. You are not hunting these animals — doing so will not count. You need to walk up to each one and use the Pet or Feed prompt that appears when you get close enough.

The eight animals are: Monkey, Turtle, Dog, Pig, Chicken, Cow, Cat, and Parrot. The trophy text officially lists seven, which is misleading. Eight distinct interactions are needed. If your trophy is not unlocking, a missing animal type is almost always the reason — go back through the list one by one.

If an animal is not spawning at a location, fast travel away, hold the D-Pad Right to skip time until morning, then fast travel back. Everything should respawn after a time skip.

Animal 1 — Monkey (Havana + Jackdaw Captain’s Cabin)

The Monkey is the most involved of the eight. You cannot simply find one in the wild — you need to complete the Monkey Business local event in Havana at coordinates (225, 568), near the southeastern docks. The event marker appears on your map in southern Havana.

Head to the docks and board the Spanish ship. Eliminate the sailors mistreating the monkey and rescue it. After the cutscene, Albert the Monkey becomes available as a ship pet. Open your Inventory, click the sixth inventory slot beneath your outfit, and equip Albert.

Once Albert is equipped, board the Jackdaw and head into the captain’s cabin at the rear, below the helm. Albert will be sitting in the back left corner. Interact with him there. This interaction is required for the trophy — equipping Albert alone is not enough. You must actually interact with him in the cabin.

Alternate shortcut: You can also redeem the free Shipmate Monkey code (ASC-BFR-PMK-000) from the Animus Shop, equip it as your ship pet, and interact with it in the cabin to count this animal without needing to complete the local event. Either method works.

Animal 2 — Turtle (Abaco Island or Cape Bonavista)

Turtles appear along beaches all across the Caribbean, making them one of the easiest to tick off. The most reliable early location is Abaco Island at coordinates (584, 807) — right on the beach. You visit Abaco Island early in Sequence 3, so you can grab this interaction almost immediately after taking control of the Jackdaw.

Alternatively, fast travel to the southern synchronisation point at Cape Bonavista and swim to the nearby beach. A turtle is usually making its way toward the ocean. Walk up and interact to feed it. You cannot interact with turtles while they are in the water, so wait for one to crawl back onto shore if it has already entered the sea.

Animal 3 — Dog (Kingston or Nassau)

Dogs are among the most common animals in the game and appear in virtually every settlement. The most reliable single spot is the Kingston graveyard, where a black dog sits near a grave under a large tree at all times of day, regardless of weather or chaos in the area.

In Kingston, fast travel to the southern synchronisation point (617, 167) and head toward the docks — dogs also wander around the dock area where you spawn. If you are in Nassau earlier in the game, dogs roam around the dock areas there too. Interact with any dog to check this off the list.

Animal 4 — Pig (Kingston or Cat Island)

Pigs are more specific than cats and dogs. The most reliable location is Kingston. From the southern fast travel point at (617, 167), head right toward the beach and follow it to the general store. There is a small fenced pen next to the building with pigs inside. Interact with one to feed it.

Pigs can also be found on Cat Island. From the beach, follow the right-hand path inland until it forms a T-junction, then turn slightly right. The pig is in a paddock there. Chickens are also nearby on Cat Island if you still need that interaction. Note that Cat Island becomes accessible only after reaching a certain point in the main story.

Animal 5 — Chicken (Havana or Kingston)

Chickens are one of the most common animals in the game and appear in multiple towns. The easiest early location is Havana. Fast travel to the south-east synchronisation point and drop down from the haystack — chickens are usually nearby. Walk back and forth to trigger the Feed prompt if one does not appear immediately.

In Kingston, chickens roam around the marketplace and are also found near the pig pen. Chickens at coordinates (617, 167) are easy to grab while you are already collecting the pig, dog, and cow interactions in the same area.

Animal 6 — Cow (Kingston)

Cows are found in Kingston in a fenced enclosure on the east side of town at approximately (627, 166), between the Monkey icon and the Harbourmaster icon on the map. The enclosure is a short walk from the pig pen and dog spawn points.

Important: Do not get into combat or break the paddock fencing near the cows. Both will cause them to scatter and escape the enclosure, making the interaction impossible until they respawn. Stay out of combat and approach calmly to interact with one.

Animal 7 — Cat (Kingston, Havana, or Cat Island)

Cats appear in several major settlements. The easiest reliable locations are:

• Kingston marketplace — a cat roams the street just north of the central viewpoint.
• Havana southern docks — a cat often wanders along the wooden walkway near the docks.
• Cat Island — an orange cat roams the loading bay area, though the island has restricted access and enemies nearby.

The simplest method is to grab the cat pet from the Cat Distribution System local event at Great Inagua (819, 441), which becomes available after completing This Old Cove in Sequence 4. Climb onto the rooftops at the marked location, find Soot the Cat, and pet it to unlock it as a permanent ship pet. Once equipped, you can interact with it in the Jackdaw cabin to count the interaction without needing to find a wild cat at all.

Animal 8 — Parrot (Havana or Great Inagua)

Parrots are easy to miss because they do not wander around in the open. They are found in small cages. The most reliable early location is the Havana market square at coordinates (211, 586). Look for the bird cages inside the market — approach one and interact to feed the parrot.

Alternatively, once you fully upgrade the General Store at Great Inagua, a caged parrot appears in front of the store at (818, 440). The store upgrade becomes available after completing Sequence 4, Mission 2: Nothing Is True. Either parrot counts for the trophy.

• Monkey — Complete Monkey Business event in Havana (225, 568), equip Albert, then interact with him in the Jackdaw captain’s cabin. Or equip the free Animus Shop Shipmate Monkey and interact in the cabin.
• Turtle — Abaco Island beach (584, 807) or Cape Bonavista southern beach. Wait for it to leave the water before interacting.
• Dog — Kingston docks or graveyard (617, 167). Also found in Nassau around the dock areas.
• Pig — Kingston general store pen (617, 167) or Cat Island paddock via the right-hand inland path.
• Chicken — Havana (south-east viewpoint area) or Kingston marketplace near the pig pen (617, 167).
• Cow — Kingston east side fenced enclosure (627, 166). Do not enter combat nearby or they will flee.
• Cat — Kingston marketplace (north of central viewpoint), Havana southern docks, or equip Soot from the Cat Distribution System event at Great Inagua (819, 441).
• Parrot — Havana market square cage (211, 586) or caged parrot outside Great Inagua General Store (818, 440) after upgrading it.

Tips to Unlock A Friend to All Faster

• Do Kingston in one run. The Dog, Pig, Chicken, Cow, and Cat can all be found within a short walk of each other in Kingston, making it the most efficient single stop.
• Grab the Turtle on Abaco Island early. You visit Abaco Island during Sequence 3 naturally. Pick up the turtle interaction while you are there — it saves a return trip later. While on the island, also grab the treasure map on the SW shore. See our Abaco Island treasure map guide for full details.
• Use pets as a shortcut. Equipping the Shipmate Monkey (free code ASC-BFR-PMK-000) and Soot the Cat as pets and interacting with them in the Jackdaw cabin or manor bypasses the need to find wild versions of both animals.
• The Monkey is the only story-gated animal. All others can be found from the earliest point of free exploration. Plan your Monkey interaction last or trigger Monkey Business in Havana early in your playthrough.
• Skip time if animals are not spawning. Fast travel away, hold D-Pad Right to advance to morning, then fast travel back. All animals and events should respawn.
• Do not hunt these animals. Killing an animal gives you crafting materials but does not count as a friendly interaction. You need the Pet or Feed prompt — not a kill.
